Bob Marley is undeniably one of the most iconic names in modern history. Known for introducing Jamaican music to the mainstream and popularizing the Rastafarian religion more worldwide, Marley was a global influence who unfortunately was lost in his prime. Before his death at the age of 36, Bob Marley and the Wailers released a plethora of albums with songs that will be sung far into the future.

"No Woman No Cry", although not his most popular song, was the first to break into the top 40 on the UK charts. Coming off the breakthrough 1975 album "Natty Dread", "No Woman No Cry" is one of Marley's many inspirational songs reminding everyone that there are better times to remember and strive for in the future.

Cemetery Sun has been up and coming for a little while now, and "Upside Down" is one of their two new fantastic singles ushering in a new age of prosperity for them. Most of their music has been singles, as well as a short self titled EP from 2016. Mostly being defined by the pop-punk and electro alt rock genres, lead singer Josh Doty and Cemetery Sun produce crazily catchy tunes for all listeners. "Upside Down" leans more towards the pop side of their music, but it's still a phenomenal track and a testament to their skill as artists.

This song is a bit different than normal, but it's really something amazing and special. A few years ago Martin Molin of Wintergatan released a video of himself cranking this fabulous machine, and made an entire piece of music using marbles. The video has since gone viral with over one hundred million views, and is the best way to experience the marble machine. It's also available on Spotify as well for more convenient listening.

Clyde and Gracie Lawrence, alongside 6 close friends, came together to make a new age style soul-pop group like no other. Primarily led by Clyde's clever songwriting and backed by Gracie's powerful vocals, Lawrence's music is a powerful dose of feel-good grooves. With 2 full albums, "Breakfast" and "Living Room", behind them the Lawrence siblings look to continue promoting their new style of pop.

"Superficial" is Clyde's not-so-subtle way of writing about growing up, and becoming someone with certain levels of fame (for both the band and his work in movies). "Superficial" shows off all that Lawrence has to offer, ranging from fantastic vocals to a tremendous brass section and piano chords. Clyde's genius truly shines in all of his work, with "Superficial" being a possible best.

Sir Sly produces some of the most melodically pleasing, yet simultaneously haunting, music available out there. Rather fitting that their debut album is titled "You Haunt Me", featuring their first single "Ghost". As amazing as "Ghost" is, we're not here to talk about it today; today is all about Sir Sly's 2014 smash hit "Gold".

Driven by a deep, pulsing synth and gentle guitar strums paired with Landon Jacobs' haunting vocals, "Gold" truly glitters when the chorus hits with a simplistic piano line and willowy arias in the background. This style is similar to that in Sir Sly's more recent hit, "High" which is also well worth a listen. With their outrageously popular sophomore album to back them, Sir Sly is flying high and taking the world by storm on their tour. Be sure to keep an eye out for them, because they're sure to keep getting bigger.

Catfish and the Bottlemen have been working nearly non-stop since 2014, and are on the verge of releasing their 3rd studio album "The Balance" ahead of a world tour. According to frontman Van McCann, the band had 3 albums written back when their debut album "The Balcony" released; since then they've just been along for the ride. With "The Balance releasing in 10 days Catfish have released 3 singles leading up to it, with "Longshot" being their first new music since 2016.

"Longshot" echoes sounds of Catfish and the Bottlemen from half a decade ago, but also displays the band's growth in talent and performance style. Although it's not quite as popular as their breakthrough single "Kathleen", Catfish's "Longshot" is the perfect song to usher in a new era of alternative/indie rock hailing from the U.K.

No band can go from mellowed out grooves to mosh pit inducing rock like Nothing But Thieves. Conor Mason shows off his silky smooth vocal range one moment, and the next he's rocking out alongside fellow band mates. It's this powerful sound that put Nothing But Thieves on the charts during the era of their self titled debut album, and they have continued it on to "Broken Machine", their sophomore effort.

"Sorry" may not show off the widest range Nothing But Thieves has to offer, but it certainly packs one hell of a punch. It follows a similar style as the lead, hit single "Amsterdam" with a gentle start leading up to a climactic finish. Every song they release showcases Mason's phenomenal vocals, and "Sorry" is perhaps the best place to get hooked for any new listeners.

Bear Hands will always be a semi-hidden gem in the alternative scene, as they've had success with the singles "Agora" and "Giants", but can't seem to stick. Nonetheless, Dylan Rau continues to write, sing and perform with a style rather unique to Bear Hands. With a steady beat, catchy riffs and punchy vocals, Bear Hands offer up an inimitable listening experience.

"Bone Digger" is perhaps the best example to define the niche sound/genre that Bear Hands belongs to. A faint synth and a leading drum line back up Rau's vocals all the way to the chorus, where the guitar enters and the synths pick up to the catchiest damn tune I've ever heard. While it's certainly a rather small niche they operate in, Bear Hands brings something special to the table with all their music; including their latest 2018 EP "Blue Lips".

Continuing the trend he started with "Patience", Kevin Parker keeps the new music coming with a wave of jabby piano chords and his ever wistful vocals on "Borderline". These two singles are Tame Impala's first new music in the nearly four years since the release of "Currents" in 2015. Everything about "Borderline" seems like it could be off "Currents" yet also maintains its own sense of sonic identity with its 70's style. Whenever Tame Impala decides to release the album that "Patience" and "Borderline" belong to, it'll be a great day for anyone appreciative of great music and talent.

Mutemeth is one of the most sonically jarring yet simultaneously harmonious bands around. With 5 full length albums and a brand new EP, "Voice in the Silence", to boot, Mutemath have been making waves for just over a decade and regardless of member reformation don't appear to be slowing down, according to Meany. "Vitals" is Mutemath's 3rd album, and perhaps their most popular influenced.

"Best of Intentions" is by far the most impressive track in terms of showing of Meany's vocal range, and the entire ensemble's skills. It boasts groovy synths straight out of the 80s, and funky tunes that are made for the dancefloor. "Vitals" in it's entirety is comprised of similar tunes, but also paints itself as a story adapting from track to track.

Mutemath has undergone some 'changes' lately, and not just their remixed EP. Most members have decided to pursue family or their own projects, so Paul Meany is taking Mutemath in his own direction, as well as launching a solo project, 1PM. Whatever music Mutemath or 1PM puts out in the future is bound to be beautiful, so keep your eyes and ears open.

Arkells is undeniably one of the most energetic and passionate groups out there, with Max Kerman and Co. putting their hearts and souls into every song. Hailing from Arkell Street in Hamilton, Ontario, Arkells have been cranking out jams since their debut album "Jackson Square" in 2008. Things really started to pick up for Arkells with their 3rd studio album "High Noon" which was produced by Tony Hoffer (Beck, M83, Saint Motel).

While "Leather Jacket" was the smash hit single off of "High Noon", a close second favorite is "11:11". Although it's by no means the most explosive song on the record, "11:11" shines through with some of Arkells most succint lyricism and smooth rhythms.

As an aside, Arkells is honestly one of the most enjoyable bands around in terms of their music and live performances. "11:11" is one of my personal favorites, but their entire discography is well worth the time; from "Jackson Square" to "Rally Cry" Arkells never miss a beat.

Death Cab for Cutie started off with Ben Gibbard inviting his college roommates to play some of his music live, and over 20 years later they're still around doing just that. "Thank You for Today" is Death Cab's 9th studio album, and Gibbard's first since turning 40; this reflects onto the even more mellow and wistful sound than usual. As a whole, "Thank You for Today" has a sound reflective of "Plans", Death Cab's 2005 album featuring the worldwide hit "I Will Follow You Into the Dark".

"Northern Lights" highlights many parts of Death Cab's latest evolution, including entrancing harmonies and wondrous combinations of guitar and piano chords. Although critical reviews of "Northern Lights" and it's album are rather mixed, anyone fond and familiar with Ben Gibbard's work will surely be pleased by Death Cab for Cutie's newest addition to their discography.

If there was ever a band to define the Indie genre it would be The Shins. James Mercer and Co. have been making music since the turn of the century, and have embraced the heart and soul of the indie-pop genre all the while. It all began with the hit single "New Slang", and their success has continued all the way up to their latest release, "Heartworms".

"Heartworms" is The Shins' 5th studio album, and received very well rounded reviews across the board, attesting to the staying power of their skillful sound over the past 2 decades. The first song off the album, and the last single before "Heartworms'" release, "Name For You" maintains the intoxicating melodies that The Shins are known for. Even after nearly 20 years of production, James Mercer still manages to please with his iconic vocals and catchy chords.

Dreamers have seen somewhat of a meteoric rise in the past 2 years since the release of their debut studio album "This Album Does Not Exist". With the smash hit "Sweet Disaster", frontman Nick Wold had helped Dreamers find their way onto the radio and into the mainstream. Since then Dreamers have been touring and preparing for the launch of their sophomore effort "Launch Fly Land", titled in conjunction with the 2 EPs released in 2018.

"Screws" is the lead track off the first EP "Launch", and is also the most popular song in the "Launch Fly Land" phase of Dreamers' discography. It features what could be called that 'classic' Dreamers sound; a simple and steady, yet always anthemic, drum/synth beat alongside Wold's seemingly yearning vocals. Dreamers brings something new to the table with every piece they put out, and they show no signs of coming down from their current high any time soon.

There's hardly a more prolific band with an iconic sound than Supertramp. With their masterful use of the harmonium, harpsichord, and brass, Supertramp made a name for themselves amongst a plethora of other popular bands in the 70's and 80's. "Give a Little Bit" was the breakthrough song that gave them a platform, with the album "Breakfast on America" shooting them to stardom.

Featuring some of their most famous hits such as "The Logical Song", "Take the Long Way Home", and the titular track "Breakfast in America", Supertramp's 4th studio album is their best selling with over 4 million copies sold, 2 Grammy awards, and being certified quadruple platinum. With such boppy songs such as "Breakfast in America", the single and album as a whole were destined for greatness the moment it was conceived by it's creators Roger Hodgson and Rick Davies.

Circa Waves started all because of a few spur of the moment decisions made by frontman Kieran Shudall way back in 2013. He wrote, recorded, and uploaded the band's first demo for their debut EP "Young Chasers" all in one day, but didn't have a band name. Circa Waves was the first thing that came to mind, and thus a band was born. Since then, a new full length album has been released every 2 years almost exactly; even up until yesterday when Circa Waves released their 3rd album, "What's It Like Over There?"

"Times Won't Change Me" is the 4th single released leading up to the album, and it's arguably the best because of its insanely catchy tune. Starting with a constant piano chord, leading into an anthemic drum beat and vocals, "Times Won't Change Me" dares anyone who listens to it NOT to sing along.
