also need to share that the playoffs have been ROUGH. obviously starting with the stars but every other team i picked to root for basically got knocked immediately so now i'm just begging for the canes (who i expect to win the conference finals barring some divine miracle) to do what the avs somehow couldn't do. i'm not superstitious enough to believe in the prez cup curse quite yet but the avs have absolutely disappointed me beyond measure after being in my finals prediction

oh yeah also sorry for being quiet lol i forgot about this blog & have been on tiktok a lot more. i did go see the avs beat a bunch of AHL rookies my team into the ground back in november and it was very very fun, would love to go to a stars game where they win someday but it just wont be the same if its not a home game...

honestly the carter hart trade rumours have me hoping and praying for the (least likely but) best possible outcome of him getting booted to AHL or lower, but considering vgk personell already saying they don't care about optics and them keeping the grip on him that they do. our next option might be waiting for another injury & watching his team completely avoid him Again. which i would still be fine with

VERY excited for the upcoming preseason game i'm seeing. last time i saw a game in person i didn't know squat about the game itself (or the players) but now i know marginally more. And my husband is going with me too so :D that and we're also seeing they might be giants the day before.... it's going to be an exhausting two days but i'm HYPED

on one hand it would be satisfying to see the jets win just based on how good they've been doing this season. but on the other every day i think about how i missed the 2019 playoffs and i think we should just do that again. wildcard sweep

ok ramblings on things i have picked up from the games i've been catching this season

i must have some sort of ability to miss when literally every "great" player does well because every time i've witnessed any of the current "greats" on-ice (aside from ovechkin and mcdavid) they've been whiffing every single pass and SOG. the first time this was ever interrupted was when mackinnon threaded the needle in the four nations final. my jaw actually dropped that was fucking crazy

i already knew the stars kind of used the first period as an extended warmup and just never put full effort into it (from an endurance perspective it works but it's also a huge problem if the other team doesn't do the same) but as the season went on i noticed they just. haven't changed that strategy. they always wait until 2nd or 3rd period to get it into gear. and the other teams regularly take advantage of this.

keeping up with the ducks after always paying attention to the stars is crazy but also refreshing. man a lot of stars fans really like to brag about the singular stanley cup win from almost 30 years ago. but ducks fans are just happy to win a game. and hey despite being on the lower end of the rankings i've seen the ducks do some impressive shit

that being said i do not understand the hype around gibson, maybe he was better in past seasons but every game i've seen from him he's been disappointing. dostal however. i would trust with my life. (if i make jokes about gibson sucking though it is all in jest. i do not wish any ill upon this man. ignore i have an rpg maker project titled JOHN GIBSON MUST DIE. the title is deceiving)
