I don't see what that has to do with anything? If Anitam had enforced its caste laws, we might not have FTL. I don't see what lineality in other countries has to do with it.

It’s official: the greatest green of our age isn’t even green. If the caste apologists had had their way – if our existing caste laws had been enforced successfully – then we wouldn’t have FTL right now.
If you’re a caste apologist, then you get to just shut up forever, because you tried to prevent us from getting planets.

Because being mildly foolish is not, in fact, a sin worthy of seeing the only thing worth caring about ripped from your arms and taken into the grasping claws of strangers.
Because credits, when properly implemented, need to be fungible in order to work properly, and the economic ramifications of them suddenly being static are enough to make the most emotionally durable economist tremble.
Because rape exists, and forcing modestly incautious victims of it through the most harrowing experience possible- again- is the act of a tyrant and a madman, an idiot and a sadist, of one who cares not what inner light he extinguishes.
Because getting rid of aftermarket credits wouldn’t actually remove the involved genes from the gene-pool, unless you’re suggesting implementing the system of Tapa- and the merest suggestion of introducing that abomination to civilized regions is enough to make me quiver in rage and I suggest you reconsider it, should it be your opinion.
Because sometimes your spouse dies before you can conceive, or you have a messy break-up, or your life situation changes suddenly or any of the myriad other reasons you can’t use the credit you’ve worked your whole life for, not this spring.
Those are reasons to let people sell them, not to let people buy them. The government could just issue refunds.
Refunds could lead to the amount of credits issued to stop corresponding to the amount of children being born. Aftermarkets lead to a child being born for each credit. Selling credits is an important part of the whole equation.

Okay, what hack translated the extended version of Spoiled Egg? The last verse has nothing to do with the original Tapap words, and it goes against the whole mood of the song, it’s about disassociating and feeling aimless and depressed. Where is this aggression coming from? We do have internet in Cene, this is no longer “artistic liberties”, this is ruining the whole song, plain and simple.
The lyrics are actually pretty good, when taken by themselves, which is the most baffling thing. They even got the original Cenemi singer back, and while I don’t usually like her this song plain fits her.

Credit countries are full of evil people bdecause credit systems create evil. Giving to charity makes you less able to have children in a credit country. They are NOT EUGENIC they breed SELFISHNESS. We should REFUSE TO TRADE WITH non-permissions countries!

I think that when a lot of people are trying to make ethical or policy decisions, they miss just how beneficial FTL would be.
Like, FTL could end the suffering of empty springs. It could allow billions of happy new lives that could not have otherwise existed. Even a tiny increase in the chance of getting FTL dwarfs any other possible choice we could ever make.
So take the obvious example: child allocation. A lot of Voans support the Voan system because it “reduces suffering.” But even if using credits instead increases the chance of developing FTL from 1% to 1.0001%, that difference is still worth it because FTL is that important. Likewise, when politicians are deciding what caste to set the marginal credits at, it’s clear they should be green – purples, even brilliant purples, aren’t going to invent FTL.
But this is relevant in other areas as well! Rather than spending money funding research into Ancient Nredani Literature or the evolution of the grey dialect of Medieval Tapap, we should be funneling as much money as we can into FTL research. There are probably some other fields where additional funding is worth it, but only because they could help us get FTL sooner. For instance, genetic engineering could help us make smarter greens, which would make them more likely to invent FTL. Honestly, there are lots of sources of funding we should look at cutting to make more room for FTL research. The public art subsidy is nice and all, but if we lose some pretty buildings to increase by a tiny fraction of a percent the odds of FTL, it’s worth it.
More or less any decision you make can be analyzed through the framework of ‘will this help us get FTL faster.’ Should you vote for the candidate you like or the candidate that’s going to fund the universities? Should scientists spend time playing video games? Should you donate money to disaster relief? What should criminal penalties be for different castes? These answers are easy when you keep in mind that FTL is literally the most important thing we could ever do.
We don’t know if FTL is even possible, and even if we had it we don’t know if there are seasonable planets, and even if there are we don’t know if there is enough of them for the exponential growth we’d have. And we don’t know what we’d run into in space, worst case scenario is that the universe has already been taken over by a group of aliens who have incompatible pollution sense and they’ll murder us all for being polluted by their standards.
On the other hand, we do know that hypovernal people exist, we know that they can be just as happy as everyone else, and it’s very likely that research would at least lead to a way of making springs midler.
So sure, let’s put more money into the pipe-dream of FTL, but let’s not forget that it isn’t the only option.
It’s weird that I miss cooking for a living, considering I still cook for the whole family and can invite people over if I need the rush. Maybe it’s the fact that in the kitchen we used to work as a unit, while at home I have my wife and children who definitely aren’t professionals?
Or that I now have a second child who choose the beautician track, so my wife can talk shop with the two of them and I have nobody who’s actually interested in cooking.

For the sake of the meme I’m going to answer as if I was alternate caste and also incapable of giving birth, as just writing “still a surrogate and a house spouse” wouldn’t be fun.
Blue: Real-estate or coasting along with a portfolio, I’m definitely not fit to be a politician.
Green: I’d most likely end up writing for one of those television shows where they have large teams writing each episode. Knowing me it’d be a surrealist humour show that’s full of visual and verbal puns.
Grey: Most likely some kind of rescue work, like firefighting or flood rescue.
Orange: One of those jobs where you have a long-lasting relationship with one or a few people, like an assistant to an elderly or disabled person or a private nanny.
Yellow: Editor for someone who writes fiction. Or perhaps for one of those anthology magazines.
(Purple: I was a cook before I became a surrogate, that’s what I’d continue.)
Today in “My Family are the Bluest Blues”, one of my older relatives was delightedly telling us the story of the time she decided to travel around in a purple wig to get a sense of what life was like among “the common people.”
She was impressed by how friendly and articulate they all were! Which I’m sure has nothing to do with the fact she looked oddly similar to the local senator, and spoke with the bluest accent imaginable. (Hell, knowing her she might not have even remembered to dye her eyebrows).
I don’t like the implication here that purples aren’t usually friendly and articulate, Especially if they’re working in a customer-facing job.
