a homesickness for a home to which you cannot return, a home which maybe never was; the nostalgia, the yearning, the grief for the lost places of your past.
Too many people on this site think being a woman or gender minority automatically means they’re experts on gender/patriarchy/cissexism without ever learning about experiences outside their own or looking into any analysis of how any of it works. Same with being lgbt+ and thinking they’re experts on sexuality/heterosexism. It’s bonkers lol. Do you know everything about mammals because you are one? Does being a carbon-based life form make you a chemist? I’m being hyperbolic with these comparisons but my point is, you can live in a system and be impacted by it all your life without ever knowing anything beyond the tiny microcosm of your own subjectivity. You actually do have to show some curiosity and willingness to question your gut reactions to really develop a meaningful analysis and act in accordance with it. Which is a lifelong process. “I’m gay so I know everything about what it means to be gay” is a pathetic outlook lol
Imo, The mindset of the modern American reactionary is that of the estranged parent. It's a person who cannot allow themself to understand that yeah, they were a shit parent, and their kids aren't talking to them because they were a shit parent. It's the two-time wanna-be small business failure who cannot allow themselves to believe that they failed, and that there may have been consequences to their choices.
I think it has something to do with why transphobia is the popular cudgel now. This idea of the "trans cult" that took their kids away gives shape and form to the storm of negative emotions in their life. Its something to focus all their emotions on. Comparing trans people to pedophiles gives them the justification they need for righteous anger. By framing their anger as "you were keeping them safe" it allows them to feel like they were right all along.

"Black Autistic people can have a variety of complicated relationships to masking and code-switching. Pretending to be neurotypical by one culture's rules is wearying enough. Having to do it in a variety of different ways, using different dialects and mannerisms depending on the setting, is an entirely different level of social performance."

The Inaugural Eight Seconds Juneteenth Rodeo
Photographer Ivan McClellan held his first annual Eight Seconds Juneteenth Rodeo in Portland, Oregon in June 2023 🥳. He’s been documenting Black American cowboys and cowgirls all around the country at some of our oldest rodeos, trails and elsewhere for years. Our long-standing tradition dating back to the 1800s. It’s only right Ivan got his own.
This photoset is just some of the photos Ivan’s released thus far. He’ll prob release them all in a new book.
If you’re new to his work, I’ve posted his photography on this site before. (HERE)

Keiajah Brooks, whose speech in front of the police went viral, is being harassed by tariq nasheed and his ashy hotep followers for being intersectional...this is why I’m over black women constantly risking their lives for these niggas lmao
don’t blame states that go red on people not voting and blame it on literal generations of gerrymandering and voter suppression and the whole ass electoral college that y’all barely have a grasp on.
black people in the south vote blue and get shadowed out by white people that vote red. and then the state turns red. and then people yell at black people and nonvoters, all while ignoring radicals/leftists/progressives in southern states working harder than your average Blue state citizen to flip senate/house/local seats in any way they can. and then those blue state citizens will make jokes about innocent people dying in hurricanes and natural disasters and dying at the hands of the very structures they claim to be against. im so damn tired.
