Welcome to Segovian Artisan: The First (Tiny) Steps
Hello! I’m a long-time Magic: the Gathering fan who recently got into miniature painting. Around the end of 2020, I wanted to brush up on my basics and get more intentional about learning new techniques. Since practicing a lot of different techniques on a variety of miniatures can get expensive quickly, I started looking around at what I already had that I might be able to use. It didn’t take long to remember that years ago, I had collected the Magic board game “Arena of the Planeswalkers” and its two expansions, and they came packed with different miniatures.
As I sorted through them, a few more thoughts came together and sparked a new idea. I’d recently been wanting to write more regularly as well as paint, it was almost the new year, and there were 12 planeswalker models. What if I grouped the models by planeswalker and wrote a weekly blog where I chronicled my progress?
Thus, Segovian Artisan was born. It’s March now, and the blog is still going strong, but I kept thinking that this project might be interesting to the Magic crowd here on Tumblr. Figuring it’s worth a shot, I’ve decided to start linking my weekly blog posts here, as well as finished photos and other content. I hope you’ll enjoy this project as much as I am!
