Moving Forward
I've said my sappy piece both in the server and slightly on the slideshow, but for everyone else, I love you all and your muses and I want to continue writing. My plans going forward are to continue on with all the replies I owe across all three of my blogs (Anaxagoras, Dainleifs, and Kinich), and whether or not they are responded to is the other mun's decisions. I'm certainly happy to continue any threads until they reach their conclusions, and I will be here if anyone wants to pick up new ones. In short, business as per usual. Perhaps the other two may be put to rest eventually, when I am satisfied that I have done my part with them, but Anaxagoras is too dearly important to me to let this be the end.
It may take me a while because of school but I will be replying to everything I owe no matter what. Eventually.
For now, the offer of my boys will remain with blogs formerly affiliated with GH, but as time goes on, and if anyone decides to reach out, perhaps I will consider it. And to my dear friends of the Hymns, you know where to find me.
In the next life, may the truths of the universe rest again in my hands. That is all I have to say. May our next meeting be among the stars!
a whale of a time
Commission Board: Elation | @seiljager
It was not often that Xiao left Liyue.
He would not have left at all, if he had noticed this earlier, and this would have not been his problem, had it not originated in Liyue, but both of these things were true, and so now here he was.
Just as often as the buried remains of old gods seeped through the land, corrupting those who walked upon it, those that were laid to rest in the sea would surface upon Liyue’s shores, brought by the tide or by animals— in this case, a whale who had devoured these remains and in turn grew to four times its normal size. Xiao had been preoccupied with other matters and hadn’t been able to exorcise the god’s remains before the whale escaped the waters of Liyue and swam towards Fontaine. As such, it was his responsibility to track it down and deal with it. Not that it was an easy task—the ocean was deep, and Xiao did not swim.
And so he watched and waited, on the shore of a small island near where he’d sensed the whale last. The tide lapped at his boots.
Being in foreign soil, the easiest way to remove the threat would be to simply lure it back to Liyuean waters, using himself as bait. Tainted with karma as he was, he still held the power of an Adeptus, which he could use to his advantage alongside the whale’s primitive greed—
His senses alerted him to the approach of the whale, and he stood ready, spear grasped tightly. And then he heard something else.
It was a boat. Some mortal fishermen had found the whale before him. But it was no matter; Xiao would simply warn them to stay away and if they had enough sense, they would listen.
He teleported onto the deck of the boat. (There was a yelp and a clatter behind him, but Xiao paid this no mind.) Xiao gave the humans standing around a cursory scan, assessing who looked the most capable of efficient communication.
“You,” he said, approaching a young man clad in green. “Tell the captain of this ship to stop pursuing this whale. It will put you in grave danger.”
“I’m aware of the danger. That’s why they hired me,” Kinich says sternly, arms crossed tightly over his chest as he stares warily at the new presence upon the ship, “If it was that easy to reason with the captain, I doubt I’d be here. Clearly someone already warned him and he thought the best course of action wasn’t to stop, but to hire a bounty hunter. Besides, he’s already paid me. Can’t exactly argue with that.”
He couldn’t, but Ajaw certainly could. Ajaw, who had been making his complaints about being forced out to sea to hunt extremely loud and clear since they had set off from the port. Ajaw, who was still complaining even now. Good thing Kinich had long since learned how to be able to tune him out, after all the years they had been bound by contract. The same could not be said for the crew members he was currently bothering.
“I don’t know about the rest of the crew, but if things go south, I can handle myself,” He smirks slightly, giving a dismissive shrug of his shoulders. He’d been handling himself since he was a mere seven years old, hunting and killing animals far larger than himself just to survive another day without his parents around to care for him - though his father had barely cared for him when he was still alive, “Of course, I could be convinced to make them turn around right now. That is, if you can pay me the amount given by the captain plus ten percent.”
WHEEEEE || Mavuika & Kinich
Leisurely meeting at the Scions of the Canopy's settlement || @seiljager || Commission Season: Elation
Just how long has it been since she last fired a grappling hook, swung on a bungee and reminded herself what it was like to be a member of Scions of the Canopy?
Mavuika catches herself realizing she hasn't actually tried that ever since re-emerging from the Sacred Flame. Becoming the Pyro Archon in an era she didn't truly belong to, she found her home tribe a completely different place than what she remembered, and thus felt her connection to it somewhat... severed. She became the Archon of all tribes equally, which was of course supposed to be true for every new coming of Kiongozi, but was particularly accurate for her, for her tribe of origin was no longer the same.
Her visits to the Scions of the Canopy were either idle walks in delusional hope that she would find some leftover signs of the house she remembered (and she did find one, the manual left behind by Hine - which faithfully fulfilled its destiny as Sacred Flame fuel not long after), or patrols to check on their safety and defenses, same as what she did for all the other tribes.
As such, today's occasion has something of a special meaning for her.
"You know, I haven't actually done this in... five hundred years." There is a short burst of laughter accompanying her words, though there may be a noticeable hint of sadness concealed in it. "I'm excited to try and pick it back up. That said - I know how to stay safe, so don't worry about me, but I hope you can forgive me if I stumble and fall like a newbie."
She fiddles around a little with the new grappling hook on her wrist. "They... make those a bit differently than back then. It's lighter for sure. How did this work again?..."
“Has it really been that long?” Kinich knew that it had, but he couldn't help but to be surprised she hadn’t tried it at least once in the current era. He can’t even begin to imagine his life without the grappling hook that had particularly been attached to him since he was seven years old. It wasn’t only a connection to his tribe, but it represented the freedom he had been granted on that day. To lose something that was such an important connection for them… Mavuika must feel terrible, “I’m sure you’ll pick it back up quickly. It’s second nature for us. And don’t worry, I’ll make sure to stay close so I can spot you.”
He’s so used to speeding ahead of all of the others, of keeping them behind him. From the days when he would run away from his father, proving himself to be faster and stronger, able to escape for fleeting moments of freedom. To when he had first become a courier and did everything those older than him were able to do but faster. Even when he does have a few rare moments like this, where he messes around with a grappling hook with tribe members around his age - though he’d never easily been able to connect with them - he still outpaces them and runs far ahead where they can’t catch him out of habit.
Perhaps it would be nice to take a more leisurely pace, let someone else have the lead, and have fun with said person. Honestly, he felt far more comfortable with Mavuika than he ever had with the kids he had grown up with.
“You make the first move, whenever you’re ready. I’ll follow right after.”
wrong medicine, bro.
non-commisson > "let's put our skills together ifa 💪 and definitely not feel any feelings" with Kinich
call it pessimistic thinking, but seriously - hard not to be a little of that when the kid's saurian companion has showed no signs of improvement . . . diagnosed with something akin to histoplasmosis - something like that. he doesn't know how the iktomisaur got it. current running theory is that it was nibbling on things he wasn't meant to. poor little guy. . . uh, shoot, what's his name again?
. . .
something.
it's a normal visit, Ifa and Cacucu need to check on the little guy to check if the medicine really isn't working, because there's no way it's not at least helping the saurian's cough or fatigue. good thing that the trip here from his own clinic isn't too long. normally - Ifa would prefer that the saurians are brought to him, and that is what they've been doing. unfortunately, the little saurian has gotten too tired to even get out of its bedding.
when he gets there, though, he just didn't expect there to also be kinich ( and ajaw ) standing nearby the place the iktomisaur is resting. he sees them - but not the girl who is the iktomisaur's companion.
the vet goes forward anyway with a chill smile.
“ 'sup, bro! ” he greets with a nod and friendly wave. “ didn't expect to see you here. commission for someone nearby? ”
and Cacucu - the round saurian follows up with a loud “ sup, bro!! ” before beelining towards the pixelated companion that follows kinich.
again, the vet looks around for the iktomisaur's human companion. she is . . . still not there. huh, odd. it's the scheduled time, ain't it? at least there's decent company, in the form of one of natlan's heroes and the yellow-green rat saurian.
@seiljager
Kinich hears Ajaw yelp in annoyance at Cacucu’s greeting, the dragon desperately trying to get away until a hand grasps onto his tail at record speed, before he processes the man standing in front of him. And if Cacucu was here then…
“Hey bro,” He says with a deadly serious look on his face, “I wish I could say that, but not technically on the job until I’ve been paid.”
The client had been here a moment ago, promising to be just right back because she didn’t have the proper amount of money on her. Which she should have, given that she had intentionally called him all the way out here. And everyone in Natlan knew that it was no secret that Kinich was strict with his compensation and conditions before he accepted any commission properly.
“Not surprised to see you, though. Treating sick Saurians is more your thing than mine, I usually just hunt them,” And how diligent he was. As long as Kinich had known him, he had never thought of him as anything less than a vet who truly cared for the Saurians that he was treating. Ifa was a good man. Shame both of them never really had the time to meet up, “It’s not often our work aligns enough that we end up on the same job, or that it aligns enough to see each other for that matter.”
Ajaw decides now is a great time to join the conversation and proudly pipes in with, “What’s taking that girl so damn long???!!! Right back means RIGHT BACK don’t you know!!!”
Kinich sighs, “You know I hate to agree with Ajaw… but she has kept us waiting a while. We’d been here at least thirty minutes before you showed up. You think something might have happened to her?”
It wasn't just exactly just a few jumps he had shown the children. It was jumping upside down, left side, up side. Climbing and jumping the tall mountains in one go due to the strength that his legs have. There were plenty of things to say about Ma Feima, but when he truly felt like it he does not hold back from entertaining the people. The scions of the canopy do not fear extreme challenges. But some of his actions were meant for people who wanted to-. But in a cool way, it was not the ...most sanest of actions he would show to children, in honesty.
He regrets showing off a bit.
"You weren't here for the first part."
He had jumped, dangerously, foolishly at the highest peak but stopped his descent when he noticed children at the bottom. the children awed and aaah because he did it all alone without any tools and just his body. but that was... it was a good thing he noticed that other people did exist outside of him, in that moment. Perhaps it was because he was lonely that he did not notice the cliffs. Or too distracted by anything else.
He walks in tandem with the other, memorizing routes as he goes along. He suppose he can delay another day, with so many young innocent minds nearby.
Maybe he can challenge this Natlan Archon, see if he can finally get that challenge he dreams of.
"I heard that each clan is different within Natlan, and I was wondering what specialty this clan has, I"m a bit of a traveller and aim to try all the specialties before I head ....to whatever counts as home." a change of topic!
“Can’t be that bad,” Kinich awkwardly adjusts his grappling hook, remembering the days where he had been without it, younger than most of the children still hanging around. It was odd how free he had felt when he had learned he was able to outrun his father, was able to climb higher in the trees than him, and was able to escape him, “You’d be surprised how many kids around here know what they’re doing when it comes to stuff like that.”
“Yeah Kinich here loooooooves throwing himself off those cliffs headfirst!!! And he doesn’t even die! It’s not fair!!!!” At the sound of his voice, Kinich is rather disappointed. He had hardly seen Ajaw today, and he would have preferred for it to stay that way. That shrill voice is just so grating….
Kinich clears his throat, yanking on Ajaw’s tail in a desperate attempt to shut him up, “As true as that may be, that wasn’t the point. If you’re looking for our speciality, it’s pretty much that.”
He glances at the cliffs above, at the Yumkasaurus running about both above and below. He sighs, starting to realize that the lifestyles they led here weren’t exactly the easiest thing for any foreigners to wrap their heads around. Speaking of… Kinich glances back towards the older man, wondering to himself where he was from. Liyue perhaps?
The young bounty hunter stops before his tribe’s totem pole, and speaks again, “While we are certainly known for our love of extreme sports, and our tribe is a popular tourist destination for them, our true specialty is communications and exploration. Many people here are part of the Adventurer’s Guild, or are couriers and hunters, myself included. I’m usually busy with some commission or another.”
Kinich laughs softly before continuing, “If you ever need a message delivered across Natlan or something done, we’re the people to turn to. Not really any place that’s too hard to get to when you have a grappling hook and no fear of falling.”
@seiljager
"Hup!"
A nation so different from china it boggles the mind! The Nation of fire, called Natlan where people dress different, think different but live their best lives! more honesty then the royal courts of china itself. Though it seems that despite coming from different nations... children remain the same, easily amused by extra acrobatics. though his was a bit more extreme, jumping easily from one cliff side to the other, and then another, and then another without any help from the animal companions around.
it seems that Ma Feima was amusing children by jumping around the cliffs with just his leg strength.
"Please do not try this at home, for only those who have practice for years can accomplish this, unless one of you is a hidden genius somewhere?"
He lands on the ground neatly, undamaged.
"Whew...now that is done, would anyone direct me to the market. I'm feeling rather hungry."
Kinich finds it amusing that he would say ‘don’t try this at home’ in the midst of the Scions of the Canopy’s territory. Some of these kids had been able to use a grappling hook before they could walk. Some of these kids had put themselves in far more dangerous situations for a bit of fun more times than they could count on their hands, Kinich included. Though he wasn’t exactly a kid anymore.
Add onto that that they all knew this land better than any foreigner, and even a five year old could probably keep up with this old man. Of course, many children were simple minded, and the fact that they knew they could keep up if they wanted to certainly didn’t dim their amusement as they watched him.
Chuckling softly to himself, Kinich steps forward, holding out a hand to the older man, “I’d be happy to take you there, but-”
One of the kids clings to his side and chimes in with, “But Big Brother Kinich doesn’t do anything for free!” The others gathered nod along with them, having known Kinich as the person he was for their whole lives. Why would they expect anything different from him now?
He sighs, shoving the kid lightly off of him as he says, “You really think I would charge someone for showing them to the market? Don’t listen to them, that’s far too simple a task to demand any substantial amount of compensation anyway,” He clears his throat, glancing back at the man as he turns towards the market, “And for the record, if these kids went home and told their parents what you said, they’d probably laugh and encourage them to try to leap across the cliffs. The Scions of the Canopy fear no extreme challenge after all.”

Fireworks: Well Kinich is actually super reliable and will totally bring the fireworks back without setting any of them off. Ajaw, however, is a totally different story. He makes no promises for whatever Ajaw does. // Hyacine
A Cool Cat's Attitude Problem: I simply think it would be funny for Ajaw to make the problem worse actually. // N/A
Path Ethics: Uh, Kinich doesn't know anything about all this path stuff, but he sure can help try to decode the messages? Of course, not for free, but if he can help in any way, he's willing to try. Requires Sea of Quanta Muse // N/A
Addtional Plots: If anyone simply wants to bother him, they are always free to do so. And if anyone wants to kick Ajaw with him, he’s more than happy to provide the Ajaw for kicking.
Contact for Plotting: While you can use Kinich’s Tumblr IMs, I would prefer if you simply just dm’d me on Discord at lightorflight, or @’d me in the plotting channel if you’re in the server! Easier for me to keep track of, and I’m more likely to see it in a timely manner.
You Bet Jurass I Can Park Here
AU | On god we're getting this park shut down
“Dude, you gotta stop accepting jobs with a potential death count, no matter how big the paycheck is,” Kinich yelps as the chill of a can presses itself against his neck, or rather, is pressed there by his rather bothersome (strictly business) partner. He swats it out of Ajaw’s hand, taking away the other man’s weapon of mass destruction with an eye roll and a soft growl of annoyance in his destruction. Ajaw sits down next to him with far more force than necessary, making the wood of the boat deck creak as he sighs, “Okay, okay I get it ‘Nich. Don’t talk to me before I’ve drank my canned coffee and all that.”
“You’re such an asshole; you know that right?” Kinich groans out, cracking the can open with a little too much strength. As he takes a long sip, he glances around the company on this boat. Ajaw is the only one he even recognizes, a fact that was against his better judgement. Because if he had good judgement he wouldn’t have been working with this absolute dickwad for the past seven years. Because if he had good judgement, he wouldn’t be on a boat to a remote island off of Costa Rica to hunt down samples of dinosaurs or to observe them in a “natural” habitat or whatever the fuck they were doing here anyway, “Look, so long as you’re being a dick about it… I decide what we do and negotiate our paychecks, you just show up and do your job as hired muscle - which by the way, you are a pitiful excuse for. But if you want to complain, once we’re done with this, you can pick our next job. And do the negotiation too.”
Ajaw opens and closes his mouth a few times like a fish struggling to breathe on land, falling silent as he quickly averts his gaze to the deck below. If there was one thing Kinich knew how to do when Ajaw was complaining, it was shutting him down. The silence, the only sound being the rushing of the waves below the boat, is beautiful for the small moment that it lasts before Ajaw opens his big, ugly mouth again.
He shouts at one of the fellow hired hands on board, a young woman who seemed to be in the same business as the two of them, “Hey you! What ‘ya staring at? Move along! It’s rude to snoop! Leave me and my boytoy here to our private conversation!”
Kinich sighs, sliding his sunglasses down his nose to get a better look at the woman the idiot was yelling at. He calls over to her himself, with a dismissive shrug in Ajaw’s direction, “Don’t listen to him, he never knows what he’s talking about. But I am curious, what’s someone like you doing all the way out here? Is it the money? Can’t blame you if it’s the money.”
@trutheist
And a Glow Within You Dies
Commission | When tomorrow comes, you will know that the morning thaws the ice
Fools! Bumbling, greedy fools! Once again, bandits have slipped past the Millelith’s watch and vanished into the Chasm’s depths to loot what they believe to be relics of the past and treasures that they believe would make them fortunes. It has been well over a week, and not everyone has returned yet. Now, even their desperate comrades have come crawling back, begging for a rescue party. Be careful, though. They say that once you step in, you will only see illusions you wish to never face again.
The bottom unseen in the pitch black darkness that Kinich stares into must be a long way down. And he can’t help but want to throw himself into it without any of the assistance those surrounding the pit are offering. And despite not being terribly familiar with Liyue’s terrain. Kinich’s work took him all over Natlan, but he tried not to leave the protection of the flames of his homeland if he could help it. Liyue was awfully far; far from the phlogiston that carried the fiery spirit of his people.
But a job was a job, and the mora was mora all the same, no matter how far from home he was.
A piercing voice cuts through the quiet fog of his thoughts, an overeager dragon taking a chance to batter his tiny fists against the young man, “KIIIIIIINIIIIICHHHHH you can’t possibly be thinking of jumping in there like this! And if you are, I hope you hit your head and die on the way down!”
Ah, Ajaw… praying for his downfall as per usual. Kinich scoffs softly, grabbing the dragon’s tail and yanking as hard as he can to shut his loudmouthed companion up.
“As much as I’d love to do exactly that, I’m not sure our friend here would appreciate being dragged along like that,” He turns an emerald and amber gaze on a rather small woman who had arrived at the mouth of the Chasm shortly after he did, and while he’s not certain of her purpose here, he can see her foreign nature clear as day. No need to drag her into the thrill seeking nature of a Scion of the Canopy on what seemed to be a simple search and rescue - though, it was one with a pretty paycheck attached to it, “You seem like you’d prefer to take the more cautious route down instead of jumping in head first.”
@eternalthrone
In the Grave of the Ocean
Commission | Thar she blows
Sailors from Fontaine are coming to Nasha Town talking about a massive whale in the waters. Short of men brave enough to set sail for the waters, they wish to invite adventurers to join their crew for this perilous voyage! Should you be successful, not only will you be rewarded with gold and mora, but a wonderful tale to share, too! Will you answer their call?
Hunting was hunting, no matter if it was on land or in the sea. And hunting just so happened to be one of the things that Kinich did best. Nod Krai was a haven for adventurers and those seeking commissions, and Kinich certainly couldn’t deny that it was the appeal of those commissions - and the money they would bring in - that had brought him to Nod Krai for at least a little while. Lucky him that he found a job suited to his specialties almost immediately after arriving.
With how desperate the crew was, the price that they were offering was more than a pretty mora. He couldn’t exactly turn down such a generous offer. He didn’t even have to argue, he’d set his price and they’d agreed instantly. Most likely out of that same desperation.
And so here he was now, standing the deck of a terribly understaffed boat, as his sharp eyes are fixed to the waters below, searching for even the smallest telltale sign of their quarry. Ajaw, as per usual, is bothering someone. Go figure.
Kinich can hear him yelling from halfway across the ship, the squeak of his voice carried by the wind, “YOU CAN’T BE SERIOUS!!! Who the hell comes on a hunting trip just to read a book the whole time???!!!”
He should probably intervene. The young bounty hunter turns on his heel and walks towards Ajaw and whoever he is yelling at this time. Grabbing his companion by the tail and yanking him away, he observes the stranger that Ajaw was bothering with the calculating gaze of a practiced hunter and all the wary of a wild animal. A man much taller than he was, a couple of years older if he had to guess with a glance. With a sigh, Kinich says to the other man, “Just ignore him. He doesn’t know how to do anything but cause trouble.”
@silentintuition
He is Insurrection, He is- [T-REX Noises]
AU | Let's get eaten with Papa
The heel of a steel-toed boot taps anxiously against the floor of the helicopter as it lands upon the helipad, but it is not because the man whom it belongs to is nervous. The exact opposite, in fact. He’s all too anxious to get started with this job, anxious of the excitement more than anything else. The paycheck for this job was a pretty penny, provided he came back with thorough proof of violations to health and safety codes.
After that ride though, he’s fairly certain he’ll be getting what he’s owed and more. He thinks he deserves that bonus for Ajaw, his overly excited chihuahua, peeing in his lap during the flight. Shame he had to bring him with him, he much rather would have left him at home, but no one was available to watch him. So along with Kinich he came on this job.
The young man adjusts the sunglasses perched in his hair, tugging them down over his eyes as he walks confidently towards the island, dropping Ajaw on the ground to sniff around on his own four feet. Already he can say the walkway from the helipad to the island seems fine enough, but in an emergency, it surely wouldn’t hold the weight of hundreds of panicked park guests. He notes it down for later, to add to his report just in case.
There’s one other thing he can tell immediately, as he stares ahead towards the park, sighing to himself under his breath: “This is gonna be a long day…”

Target Acquired (Plotting)
Everyone be quiet and maybe Ajaw won't realize there are people here to bother <3
Seek the Black Raven: He has been hired to hunt down the treasure, by who can be determined. Perhaps it is your muse, or perhaps it is an unknown third party. The world is our oyster. Either way, since he's here to do a job, he's gonna do his job and then get out. (And deliver the treasure to his client, of course. Provided he can find it.) // N/A
Whales: Once again, he has probably been hired, but this time by the crew themselves. Hunting is his expertise, and even though whales are a bit larger than the Saurians he usually hunts, he will still fulfill the commission requirements to the best of his abilities // Alhaitham
Bandits in the Chasm: Sigh. Some idiots really don't know what's best for them; do they? Kinich will join the rescue team, but certainly not for free. And the payment better be good for going into a place as dangerous as this. // Cerydra
Heliobus Possession: He's not debating this kid, in fact, maybe he'll just let Ajaw free to deal with it. Dragon to... dragon possessed by a ghost? Whatever. Ajaw's problem now. He doesn't like talking that much anyway, let alone debating. Perhaps he might finally find something Ajaw is good at? Requires Sea of Quanta Muse // Huohuo (feat Mr. Tail)
[SNOWBALL]
The once feared Silver Wolf of the Urals too would join in the festivities of a snowball fight. Bronya was (and still is) well experienced with a sniper tucked in her hands, and even more experienced with moving silently through snow. As such, each step she took to pelt those least expecting was done with careful consideration. Her feet hardly made a sound with each step taken in the snow.
Seeking out a target, Bronya’s eyes set on a young man with dark hair, and a floating companion at his side. ‘Perfect.’ Silently, Bronya packs together two snowballs of a decent size. Then, after making absolutely sure she was far enough away, Bronya quickly threw the two snowballs in quick succession, pelting both of the unexpecting victims with a sudden ball of frost. Giggling to herself like she had been thirteen years old once more, Bronya began to sneak off once again, to pelt more victims like the assassin she once was.
Kinich yelps as snow drips down his back, though a laugh also escapes him seeing Ajaw getting flung to the ground by a snowball of equal size. The bounty hunter glances around a few times while his companion is distracted trying to haul his tiny body out of the snow, trying to see who may have hit them. But there's no one to be found. A mysterious assassin then. Ah well, didn't matter.
It was just a little bit of snow. He could handle it.
Though...
"KINICH!!! DON'T JUST STAND THERE. HELP THIS ALMIGHTY DRAGONLORD UP AS HIS ESTEEMED SERVANT!!!! DON'T LET ANYONE SEE HIM BEING SO PATHETIC!"
It seemed there was someone else who couldn't.
[ SNOWBALL ]
The first projectile sailed past her coat by a hair's breadth, bursting against a Silvermane Guard's greaves in a spray of powder. The poor man jolted like he'd been shot, kids shrieking with laughter as they ducked behind makeshift forts of piled snow and overturned crates. In seconds, the Administrative District had a full-scale battlefield on its hands.
Kafka watched from the sidelines, breath fogging the frigid air, lips curled in a lazy, amused smile as she tracked the chaos. Spying Donnie standing off to the side, a glimmer of mischief had her dipping down to scoop up a handful of snow. It packed together with a satisfying crunch, cold seeping into her palms as she shaped it with care.
She took her aim over the heads of the shrieking children, then let the snowball fly—straight toward the back of her target's head—and then stepped to one side, gazing at the poor man beside her in lightly feigned shock as if he'd launched the assault on the event organizer himself.
Kinich raises an eyebrow, watching the snowball the woman throws fly with a soft laugh. Ajaw is off somewhere, chucking snowballs of his own at strangers to his heart's content. Kinich on the other hand, is happy enough watching from the sidelines. Perhaps if Mualani had been here, indulging in the fun, he would have been more willing to join in. But as it was, he was just fine where he was.
"Nice throw," He says with a nod of acknowledgement to her, "You've got good aim."
[ HUDDLE ] - There's not much to be said for privacy at a time like this, and as what little warmth the sun can offer fades away, you've been advised to hunker down with someone you don't so much mind in your personal space. Or at least try learning not to mind them… Nothing a little bit of sharing body heat can't fix, right?

take it upon the prinzessin to know how to deal with people - even with those who refused to believe her majestic descent . . . currently, although slightly peeved from the sheer disrespect recieved by some uncouth and downright devious individuals who claimed she was - an underworlder - whatever that meant. apparently, that was an insult about those who lived underground in this world. she doesn't understand why insulting one's place of residence is something here. that's akin to insulting a natlanese individual for being natlanese and living in natlan. is that not stupid?
“ krieger! ” calls the prinzessin to a raven-haired man who sits by a fire pit - he seems to be talking to himself? upon closer inspection - she sees a companion. it looks odd. or, they? she? he? whatever this boy's familiar is. “ the prinzessin der verurteilung gives thee high tidings! one hopes thee to fare graciously in the turmoil? thou and thy familiar beareth the flecks of lassitude's fingerprints - doth the inferno see thee to health? ” she looks at his hair. it looks . . . quite nice, actually. a perfect mix of unkept yet giving him a unique silhouette to be enhanced by the flame's light.
“ mein fräulein is asking if you and your small companion are doing alright. ” Oz translates, tilting his head at the brightly colored, square lizard. why does it look like that????????????? is it a manifestation of a vision?
"SMALL COMPANION?????" Ajaw lets out an afronted screech, right into Kinich's ear. This was exactly why he needed to keep him locked in a box. A box far, far away from Kinich preferably. At the rate they're going, he's gonna be deaf before thirty, "You will address the Almighty Dragonlord K'uhul Ajaw by his name, you hear me??!! And stop talking weird too!!"
Kinich holds back a laugh, "You're one to talk, Ajaw. Have you ever actually listened to the things you say?"
He thinks he already knows the answer to that question, which is: a very firm no. He doubts Ajaw ever even has a concious thought in his head before speaking. As long as he's known him, the so called 'Almighty Dragonlord' has been spouting nonsense and yelling far too close to Kinich for his comfort.
The Saurian hunter glances up at the young woman properly, nodding a polite hello, though his face remains calm and still, in lieu of Ajaw's manners, "It's far colder here than in Natlan, but I'm holding up. Care to sit for a little while?"
Ajaw, who has no regards for the peace of others, can't help but to pipe up again, "Wait did she call me your familiar??? KINIIIIIIIIIICH, TELL THEM YOU'RE MY SERVANT, NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND!!!"
Kinich doesn't think he will. Not today at least.
That One Time You Wish A Dragon Could Breathe Fire
global warming Commission with Kinich
"Huh? You expect us to what??"
Citlali crosses her arms, her tone dripping with frustration. How could these guards be asking for the help of some tourists? Her and Kinich have only just got here at the front gates, and this is the thanks they get for helping out a few guards in a fight? Unbelievable. Just as she is about to speak her mind, her voice freezes, hesitating.
Wait what if Kinich wants to help out? I know he is always looking for commissions and tasks to do. Maybe we can help out just this once...
"Ugh. Fine, we can help you guys out and take out some of these monsters, but don't expect it to be free okay?!? We expect proper compensation as well as information on the festival and key places to visit."
She turns to Kinich, eyes looking for acceptance, "How does this sound to you?"
@seiljager
Kinich chuckles softly, “Couldn’t have said it better myself. Though I prefer to settle on my price beforehand. 50% upfront and 50% after the job is done sounds fair; doesn’t it? Of course, if the client wishes to pay the full price upfront, can't say I’m gonna argue.”
Defeating a large group of monsters… while easy enough for him, it was still quite a bit of work. And factoring in Citlali’s help, making sure she got a fair enough cut of her own… it was quite a hefty price. Furthermore, he doesn’t exactly know what mora would equate to the currency of this world. Perhaps that would best be left until the job was done, when they weren’t working on a timer and could have a moment to think over everything with a clear head.
“But… just this once, I’d be fine with negotiating compensation after the fact,” He says calmly, crossing his arms over his chest as he glances up with a level stare at the guards, “For now, just direct us where to go and we’ll take care of these monsters for you. Though… you might want to note that my help doesn’t come cheap. Got that?”
