Love how when you dig down into it, Portal 2 is a ghost story. Glados is the ghost of a murdered woman who turned around and murdered everyone else back and now she's trapped forever in an empty decaying facility. This is what does it for me. The blending of scifi and horror, the ghost in the machine. I'm gonna marry a dead murderous lesbian in a supercomputer
Cave Johnson is a ghost whose eons-old voice keeps playing in massive, sunken halls, echoing off condemned experiments, giving instructions to the memories of other subjects
He references his own death and, more casually, the sure deaths of a lot of people in the same position as the player
And you never meet Doug ingame, he’s absolutely dead by the sequel, but in portal 1 you have his notes and drawings hidden away, out of sight, like cave paintings in a futuristic age, the only evidence you have that any humans beside yourself exist. You can’t find him but he leaves remnants that are the only thing in the whole game like companionship.
Portal’s aaabsolutely haunted.

Awakening
There wasn’t much to see on the surface, so to speak. Deep in the abyss, beyond where the rays of the sun could no longer reach, so dark and unknown that those who dwelled on the surface named it after the one who held dominion over the underworld. There seemed to be nothing but barren rock and the slow descent of organic debris from higher in the water column.
If one were to look closer, however, they would see that even in the depths of the abyss there were the signs of life. The slow, methodical motion of an immense crab over the rock, towering over its prey like a scene written by Wells. The slight shimmer of a soft-bodied something slipping away into its hiding place, amorphous and sparkling with bioluminescence. The silent shadow of a near-blind shark gliding over the landscape, turning stillness and silence to something deafening as it searched with its senses for the sparks of heartbeats and muscles.
The sudden, slow heaving of flanks so expansive as to be mistaken for part of the cliffside, clouds of silt rising at its sides and puffing out of long-dormant nares.
For the first time in the lifetime of the sea life around it, a consciousness had awoken, great eyes blinking open and powerful muscles shuddering as they stretched, shaking loose silt and grit. To the mind within the immense body, it had been little more than a night’s rest. Its limbs pushed against the floor of the cave, carrying the creature’s body up and out, before extending to effortlessly glide into the open sea.
Seishin was awakening.

Although not as well Suited as Cloverfield, Hydegin and Seishin’s fusion is a force to be reckoned with while they can hold themselves together. With both the predatory instincts and bloodthirst of Seishin and Hydegin’s intelligence and calculating mind, in addition to a stature threatening to usurp even Ghidorah’s, there is little that can escape their wrath if they have the misfortune of bringing It upon themselves.
The fusion inherits both members’ purple hues, with a primarily lavender body. Their legs are a much deeper purple, verging on black, as are their segmented necks. The heads, however, retain Seishin’s white. The spines on the fusion’s tail bioluminesce as well, their glow matching the beam weapons fired from each of the three split-jawed heads, of which the center is the most powerful.
