okay i got sick of waiting for answers so i hopped onto some international versions of amazon and here is what i found:

australian amazon only sells books?? what the fuck

same for chinese amazon but that’s not as surprising

german microwaves have a potato button, but only when there are buttons. most of these things have dials. like… what. only weird fancy american microwaves have dials. also i saw a yogurt button.

indian microwaves seem to generally feature a ‘stuffed veg’ button instead of a potato-specific button. there is also a rice button. but do you know what else is standard. A GODDAMNED CHICKEN TANDOORI BUTTON. FUCK ME.

german and indian microwaves both had beverage buttons, which was not a surprise, but they also both had pizza buttons, which WAS a surprise. the indian microwaves called it a bread snack but it was clearly a picture of a pizza. why is the pizza button more universal than the potato button??

japanese microwaves have rice buttons and not potato buttons. no surprises there. the big surprise is that they also favor the dial. for that matter india had a lot of microwaves with dials, too. what gives. why the dials. where are your flat, easy to clean buttons.

according to italian amazon, in italian you call a kitchenaid stand mixer a “robot da cucina”. that is the cutest fucking thing i have ever heard. but back to microwaves. once again i’m seeing a lot of dials. you know these aren’t real ovens, right? why are you adjusting the strength so much. keep it on high and hit the one minute button. stop complicating things with dials. a lot of these are just rebranded german microwaves, so there is a potato button, and also a yogurt button.

see above for spain. y’all just have the same microwave. spain’s amazon is a lot less intuitive than every other country’s. i don’t know why. spanish amazon, please fix your menu system. it is wrong.

This concludes my fact-finding mission. Australia, why are your microwaves so mysterious.

I think one of the biggest misconceptions about magick and spell casting is the idea that you have to include words in your spells, and that’s just not true. If your intent is clear in your own mind, then that’s all you really need. The tools, supplies, and incantations are only there to boost your innate power.

I guess that all depends on what style of magick you practice. In Egyptian Heka a lot of emphasis is placed on the use of words and the power they have. Even shown in the stories of the gods. 

It can also be seen in the importance of providing the deceased with a voice in shown in the ‘Opening of the Mouth’ ceremony. The voice being needed so that the deceased can practice magick and assure survival in the afterlife.

These damn crows

The past few days, these crows won’t leave me alone. Every time I do a spell. Every time.

Like today I did a protection spell and was burying a package and of course, the crows fly to me.

One has been flying to my window at night when I would do my ritual before sleeping.

And another smashed into my house window.

I’m a bit superstitious okay? Is this a familiar? These crows? Or am I cursed? xD Help.

You’re not cursed.

Crows are really smart creatures, and intelligence often leads to curiosity. If there’s a large population of crows near where you live, they may just be curious about you. Another explanation is that crows are always around you (because there’s just a lot of crows), but that you only notice it when you’re doing magic. Or it may just be a complete coincidence.

My policy is to always look for mundane explanations to mystical seeming problems. “When you hear hooves, expect horses, not zebras.”

My wife always attracts crows, always. Now im not saying its anything esoteric but there must be something about her that attracts them. I myself am more of a magpie kind of guy, they are smart like the crow but have a cheeky attitude to go with it.
