sorry for a bit of radio silence, fellas! i’m working on a couple of things rn, one of which is about tuvok’s brain (oh, the horror)! which made me try to draw some voyager people i hadn’t drawn before, so here are some working skeks!! & some style explo & outfit design ideas and what not
I love me ~A~ woman .
Selenis Leyva and the first time she saw herself on TV. Representation DOES matter.
I made these with pencil and colored them in PS while binge watching the entire new season <3
Blessing ya feed with Selenis Leyva pictures I JUST found.
“See what I did there? Communicated with you non-verbally.”
selenis FUCKING leyva
wanna know who the most underrated Orange is the New Black character is? fuckin GLORIA MENDOZA aka SELENIS LEYVA
- she’s a protective mama to all the latinas and is endlessly supportive and helpful
- she looks out for her family above all else, survived abuse, tries to make her sons be their best selves and takes no shit
- she helps out people who need her help even if they’re not her family (the weepy white woman, poussey, etc.)
- she is unapologetic in her practice and respect for her and other latina cultures, and seamlessly expresses her culture into a prison setting (while remaining real as shit)
- in real life she is a huge advocate for the LGBTQ community, particularly trans people as she has a trans sister. like i would bet MONEY that selenis leyva and laverne cox helped to write their plotline in OITNB season 3 in order to bring to attention issues trans people face in prisons
LIKE I LOVE THIS WOMAN LOOK AT HER BEING ALL CUTE IN POLKA DOTS
I LOVE HER I LOVE HER I LOVE HER
When I search the OINTB tag on here you know who the fuck I barely see. The absolute Queen that is GLORIA MENDOZA. I mean she is the head matriarch of Spanish Harlem. She looks out for not only her girls but the entire prison. This woman COOKED DINNER FOR THE INMATES IN THE MIDDLE OF A RIOT. SHE FED THEM.BECAUSE TO HER , EVERYONE IN THERE IS FAMILY. She took on the role of mother to “woe is me Daya”.She stole the gun to keep daya out of further trouble and even felt guilty for daya’s dumbass decisions. She deadass risked her life to free those guards for her child and she struggled with the decision. Can you imagine?!? RESPECT THE QUEEN THAT IS GLORIA MENDOZA.
FUCKING THIS👏🏼👏🏼FINALLY GLORIA MENDOZA GETS RECOGNIZED FOR THE AWESOME MATRIARCHAL BADASS SHE IS💞
Until I get there, I need you to fight.
gloria 👏🏻 mendoza 👏🏻 is such 👏🏻 an underrated 👏🏻 character 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Sometimes our only choices are between shitty and shittier, but whatever we end up doing, we gotta own it. Somehow find grace in it.

I am so sorry I haven't been posting as of late. I'm not sure if it's depression or mood swings but they're affecting me. Anyways I might openly talk about it to my mom when the times right. I just need a little bit of luck & motivation.
TIENE OJO
imagine person A of your otp is a latino and person B isn’t and person C is their kid.
Person B says they feel weird and their kid screeches and yells for person A “mAMA/pAPA, TIENE OJO MAMA/PAPA” and they scurry away to the kitchen and they come back with an egg but instead of doing the right thing they just smash the egg on person B’s head and whisper “you’ve been cured” and walk away and person B doesn’t know what the fuck just happened while person A is wheezing
GLORIA AND RED I SWEAR
The amount of times I have seen “this was well executed” and “her death made sense” and “it was necessary for the plot” is one too many. A black lesbian character was killed in a disturbing way. They painted that cop as innocent and ruled her death an accident. They spent an episode trying to get the audience to sympathize with a white man who just killed a black woman. What was the statement they were trying to make? That cops accidentally kill people every single day? Because this isn’t raising awareness on police brutality or on #BlackLivesMatter, it’s just making excuses for a murderer, justifying her death. The last thing we needed was them presenting police brutality as an accident, when news outlets already justify & humanize white policemen who kill black people. If they wanted to make a statement, then they shouldn’t have pulled the same shit the media does every single time a cop kills someone. All they did was add to the problem by trying to justify the white murderer instead of actually using their outlet to shine some light into police brutality and the racism that exists in the system.
It was disgusting, and I really hope the lack of outcry is because people haven’t watched it yet. He killed a peaceful, ray of sunshine, woud never hurt anyone, black woman who was just trying to help her friend. OITNB may claim to have progressive storylines that mimicks reality and her death might not have been because she’s black or lesbian, but that doesn’t mean that her death isn’t just adding to the amount of WLW (or POC) we have seen die on TV. It doesn’t erase the fact that we have seen too many WLW die after they find someone to be happy with.
Poussey Washington deserved happiness. She deserved love. She deserved better. She deserved not to be murdered.
