We are The Taboo Club.

Forming in 2018, The Taboo Club are entirely of their own, comprising of and expressing the values of its individual members to create something heart-breakingly cathartic- a sound that commands attention and welcomes intimacy.

A consortium of artists based in and around the West Midlands, The Taboo Club write as one unit to compose music that blends, breaks and banishes musical conventions across many genres by embracing the gothic sensibilities of world music and art to create a sound that can only be described as cinematic.

Hey folks,

So yeah, I’m back on bass duties in a brand new project I have been playing in for the past 9 months or so.

I’ve honestly not been so invested or excited about anything like this before, and I can’t wait to share what we have been working on together with you all.

We all write collaboratively as 5 independently minded musicians, each channelling our own idea and influences.

So those of you who know me well enough will hear my Interpol/Post-Punk stylings coming through on bass, but it’s against and playing along with jazz, blues, latin, folk, soul and even world music. I guess the easiest way for me to describe the music is Goth Jazz.

The scariest part of creating art is putting it out into the public domain; what was once yours and something you have put everything into has suddenly become everyone else's. However, it's that fear and overcoming it which is what makes creating and sharing art so worth doing no matter what form it is in.

It's why we're very humbled to share a video that Olivia Galiatsatos (from North Carolina in the US) has created using 'My Detainer' from our last EP, projecting her own ideas, perceptions and narrative upon our own. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
