Coming to a painful realization that the man I'm in love with, though he likes me, is simply not attracted to me. Im a big gal and im working on it, but sometimes I feel like he's grooming me to be attractive enough to actually date.
He's my best friend and while he is flirty when we talk long distance, and a lot when I come to visit, I can tell he simply isn't going to feel sexual attraction towards me.
He's asked me if I would like to try dating (again. I had asked him out long distance a long while ago but it didnt last) when i moved back to town and I was (am) estatic.
However, it was only after i told him I had secretly seeing someone that he asked. He had made some comments like he had never been able to keep a relationship for very long but that we had been friends for like 5 years.
So I feel like he wants me to be single for when he does decides I've lost enough weight to bw attractive and also like he feels stuck with me or something.
Dont get me wrong, he actively seeks my company and we have a great time together; we flirt a bit and make dirty jokes around each other. Maybe I'm being self conscious or whatever and maybe i just have high expectations of a whirlwind romance where i am the only object of his desire, like he is for me.
I dont blame him for his feelings, I mean its not like he can help it either; its nature! I'm trying to be a healthier, sexier me and god its hard not to use his affection as a motivator. It should be for me that I become active.
He does get rather jealous when i mention any other guys, even like fictional men, such as sebastion from Stardew Valley! Like he wants me for me, but just isnt attracted to me. I should talk to him about it instead of letting it fester in my head.
If we are going to be together, we simply must talk about these things. I love him so very much and ive only had eyes for him for years and I think my imaginings of what I want with him is getting in the way of the reality.
I juat needed to put the words out i guess.
