Mateo: Only you would visit a city only to end up living there
Bei: It was not necessarily intentional. But I suppose it all works out.

Mateo: Incredible.
Mateo: only you
Bei: Only me?

“I know this is going to sound weird, but can you kiss me?” Sam asked, having gone up to a random stranger on the street. They were a little shaken up but hoped this would work. “There’s someonethat wont leave me alone and I’m hoping kissing someone would help. If not I completely understand.”
Bei pivoted when he heard someone speaking, and an eyebrow arched at the request. What the hell was it with Chicago? Really? He cleared his throat and glanced around, trying to find the person in question before he focused back on the one before him. “I suppose I can, yes. But I can also just set the person straight that won’t leave you alone if you’d like.”
Bei had been focused on his phone, trying to follow google maps to a local coffee shop when he accidentally bumped into someone. He fumbled for his phone, grabbed it surely in his hand just in time to keep it falling from the ground, and glanced up. “I am so sorry. I didn’t hurt you- right? I need to start paying attention to where I’m going and stop staring at this damn phone all the time...”

Peter laughed lightly. “That’s why it’s free,” he said and the shrugged when the man asked him for more help. “Yeah, the Purple goes directly to the Loop from here. No stops. It’s your best bet.” Peter brightened up when the man said he’d like for Peter to walk him. “Just come on, we’ll get you on the right train. Do you have an L pass?”
“...that is an incredibly fair point.” Bei couldn’t help the quite laugh that echoed Peter’s own. A beat later the laughter fell off and the smile faded. “An... L pass? I take it that’s what gets you on the train. I just figured I’d buy a ticket at the station. Is that not a thing in Chicago?” His brows furrowed before he cleared his throat and stepped aside, then thought better of it and turned to face the other. “I’m Bei, by the way. Thank you, again, for helping a hapless new guy.”
zao-huang:
Watching Bei Zao could sense the hidden meanings under those words. He hoped Chicago wouldn’t be too much for his brother. He was so happy to have him back but he didn’t want to force him in to an environment that made him stressed. “It can be busy at times but there’s quieter places around the city.” After Bei got out he locked the car and lead him into the restaurant. “We’re not leaving the city, just needing to size up because of wanting to all be together.”
“Quieter places, huh?” He spoke softly as he climbed out of the car and shut the door after himself, glancing around. “That I would definitely be interested in discovering. Places to hide away from the crowds and noise are my favorite.” He glanced to Zao and smiled fondly before following into the restaurant. “Ahh- that makes sense. You know, I’m happy for you. I probably didn’t say that- but I am. I just never expected to see you in a... throuple.”
micahberry:
“Noted. To be honest, I thought of Zao experimenting with a different type of style.” Micah giggled just a bit as he picked up on the teasing. The other man seemed good natured, so he didn’t take offense. “No problem.” He hummed as he led Bei around the block and to his parking spot. Micah unlocked the car and let Bei in first before getting in and handing his phone over after unlocking it. “If you know the address, I can pull it up on GPS.”
“My brother... experimented with something less tame?” That actually earned a laugh from Bei and he shook his head slowly. “No- I don’t see that happening anytime soon. But who knows- I’m sure he’s changed quite a bit since I last saw him. What with the two boyfriends and all.” He offered a genuine smile before he tugged out the address from his pocket. “Uh... yeah. I think this is it.” He managed as he handed it over to Micah. “You sure you don’t mind?”
ambrosesinclair:
“Oh, sorry. I’m Ambrose,” the redhead stretched out a hand. “Zao and I are good friends.” He smiled up at the other. “Could you tell me where you were trying to go? I can’t promise that I’m the best at directions but I’ll do my best.”
“It’s alright. It’s been happening a lot. It’s nice to meet you, Ambrose.” He shook the other man’s hand with a firm grip then dropped his hand back to his side. “I’m trying to get towards Michigan- downtown. I have the address on me somewhere...” He started to pat his pockets, searching for the paper that he’d scribbled on before he left his hotel room. Eventually he produced it, glanced at it’s contents, then held it out.
donovanbros:
“ trust me, i was in your shoes not so long ago. literally two months ago, ” he smiled. “ it’s honestly a maze, but belmont is not too far. just a few blocks. but you definitely were going the wrong way, ” he chuckled. “ it will take some time, but eventually you will get a hang of it, ” bailey smiled. “ i’m bailey. ” he extended his hand to the other.
Bei reached out and took the offered hand, giving it a firm shake before he withdrew his own. “Bei. It’s a pleasure to meet you, Bailey.” He flashed the other a smile and tucked his hands into his pockets. “Honestly, I don’t understand how one can ever learn city streets. I lived around New York most of my life and still got lost all the time. It’s... Well, I’m pretty awful when it comes to directions.” His hand moved then to scratch at the back of his head. “So not that far, huh? Exactly how off am I?”
dick-vergara:
Curious. Dick had always known that the town he lives in is a small one and people are bound to cross paths with each other, but he had to ask, “I’m sorry if I’m being nosy but are you somehow going to work for or with Dr. Sutton?” He had an inkling, but Richard would rather not assume, besides there are other clinics in the area.
“Dr. Sutton?” Bei tipped his head a bit, eyeing Richard curiously before it clicked and he laughed, shaking his head. “Oh- oh. Vet- no. Not veterinary... veteran. Different type of vet.” Bei finally managed, clearing his throat. “I do not have steady enough hands to be any sort of medical professional, animal or otherwise. But if you know this Dr. Sutton, and you recommend him, I now know where to take my dog.”
dick-vergara:
An interview. So the man definitely couldn’t afford being late then. Dick nodded along to the man and took his hand with a boyish grin as he introduced himself. “Richard,” it was curt and as he opened the door for Bei, he motioned for the man to get in. “I hope you have the address with you? Would be better the sooner I got you there man.”
“It’s truly a pleasure to meet you, Richard.” Bei replied while slipping past the other male and into the car. He settled into the seat and as he reached for the seat belt and looked back up. “Yeah... yeah. I got it. It’s one of the vet centers downtown- so hopefully shouldn’t be that hard to find... right?” A nearly defeated sigh escaped him. “At least for anyone but me. Chicago is a rat maze to me, I swear.”
peterbrisbois:
Peter’s interest perked when the man said he was late. “Well, depending on where you are going, the Purple line might get you there faster,” he offered until the man waved him off. Peter ducked his head and sheepishly. “I wasn’t reading, nobody reads the RedEye, it was just distraction to keep people from talking to me.” He shrugged and started to back off. “Purple runs express to the Loop right now. You should consider it.”
“The RedEye... I can’t imagine many people would read it with a name like that.” Bei made a face before he cleared his throat and looked down the street. “So... the purple line, huh? That... Right. I can do that. I can...” He took a few steps away before he paused and closed his eyes, letting out a breath. Just ask for fucking help, he growled at himself before he turned back to face the other. “If you’re sure I’m not interrupting your...” He gestured to the paper once more. “...intellectual stimulation, then yeah. I could use someone to walk me there. Because I am lost. And late. And I really can’t afford to be either of those things at the moment.”
micahberry:
“That makes sense. Our boyfriend, Pip is also a twin, just a heads up. His brother has a different hair cut from what I’ve heard.” Micah mused. “Okay. Follow me.” He motioned to the other to follow. “I don’t mind at all. It’s probably way faster than waiting, anyway. Where is it that you’re headed to, if you don’t mind me asking.”
“Well, it appears visual stylistic disparities don’t seem to make that much of a difference to the general public.” He replied, a playful tone in his voice as he teased Micah. Because Bei was certain he and Zao dressed and styled themselves in completely different ways, yet Micah... He nodded his head a beat later. “I have to get downtown. I’m afraid I’m late for an... appointment and I’m beyond lost. So help would be... amazing.”

Mateo: So you're staying here rather than in Brooklyn?
Mateo: Extended how?
Mateo: What things?
Bei: I'll be living in Chicago now, yes.
zao-huang:
“You missed me! I know you did.” Grinning at his brother he drove to the restaurant and parked outside. Sitting back he looked over at Bei and smiled softly. “You’ll like it here. It’s a lovely city and the community is very supporting.” He knew his brother had seen some bad stuff and he wanted to make sure he was supported and got any help he needed. “You should get a place near us. We’re hoping to move soon.”
“I did miss you. And I’m sure you’re right. Chicago seems...” Bei searched for a word that could some up the way he felt about Chicago. One that was positive. One that was optimistic. One that was... well, none of those things. “...crowded. Very, very crowded.” He watched as people walked by along the street in front of the restaurant where Zao had stopped. After a beat he shook his head and looked down at the clasp of his seat belt so he could undo it and get out of the car. “Moving?” His eyes lift to meet his brother’s. “Where are you guys moving to? I swear if you say out of Chicago after I just got here...”
