Three missed calls.
You swung off the fire escape of a bodega on 9th and landed in a crouch that would've looked totally cool and awesome if you weren't currently panicking about your phone buzzing in the pouch sewn into the suit's hip.
Babe where ARE you??
party started 40 mins ago and Megan is being weird and wont tell me where you are
if you dont answer in 5 min im calling aunt may
Nothing about tonight had gone to plan. The plan had been: patrol twenty minutes, stop nothing scarier than a Citi Bike thief, be back by 8:15, shower, wear the shirt Daniela picked out, show up fashionably late like a normal person. Instead the Citi Bike guy had a mean friend with a knife, then a trash-can fire happened that escalated way past reasonable, and now it was 8:52 and you were blocks out wearing a suit under a hoodie that smelled like smoke.
You ducked into an alley, checked both directions twice, and started peeling the suit off, typing one-handed.
so so sorry. Megan asked for help with some errands. 10 min i swear
Megan had needed help with exactly nothing. Megan was currently, per her last text, "I KEEP AVOIDING DANI LIKE A LUNATIC HURRY UP BEFORE SHE TORTURES AN ANSWER OUT OF ME."
You stuffed the suit in your backpack, yanked on a plain grey tee that fit different now, in a way that still made you feel a little caught-out every time you saw it in a mirror, and checked your reflection in the dark laundromat window.
Phone buzzed again.
and put on the shirt i left on your desk not the grey one. if I see you wearing the grey one I’ll burn it once we get home
You looked down. Grey one.
"How does she…?" You muttered, already jogging.
——
Megan was exactly where she'd promised, looking suspicious and off-putting by the bar.
"Dude." She sagged with relief. "She's asked me four times. I told her you got stuck on the Q train cause someone lit the tracks on fire. The Q doesn’t even run today! I don't know how much longer that holds."
"I know Meg, I’m sorry. I owe you my whole life."
"You owe me Shake Shack, minimum. She's on the balcony."
Daniela was leaning on the railing, her cup untouched and hair loose from dancing already. Her arms were crossed and eyebrows furrowed which meant that you’re fucked.
"There you are." She didn't move right away, which was worse. "I was about to file a missing person's report."
"I'm so sorry, I—"
"Megan told me. Three different stories. If you're gonna get your best friend to lie for you, sync up the details first."
"It's not like that, I just lost track of time! you look incredible, is that a new—"
"Don't change the subject with a compliment." But she grabbed the front of your hoodie and pulled you close anyway. "It is new. And you noticed even in whatever state you rolled up in, so I’ll let it slide.”
"I always notice things about you.” you grinned dopily and let yourself get pulled in, hands finding her waist, the tension of the last hour draining out of you at once. "You look really pretty tonight. Not just to get out of trouble."
"You're not out of trouble." But she'd already gone up on her toes, and whatever she'd been about to say next got lost against your mouth instead.
Dani pulled back first, studying your face with narrow eyes. That look has been showing up more and more lately, affection tangled with something sharper underneath, like she was trying to find her way into your brain.
"What?" You asked.
"Nothing." She smoothed a hand down your chest sweetly, except her palm lingered a beat too long. "You just run so warm lately."
"It's the hoodie. Also it's a sauna in here."
"Mm." Dani muttered as she kissed your cheek, not convinced. She was never convinced anymore. "Come dance with me before Sophia steals you away for that stupid trivia so she can win the Target gift card again."
"That was one time—"
"You knew the entire 2019 Mets roster from memory. That's not normal partner behavior, that's a cry for help." She was already tugging you toward the living room by the hoodie strings, laughing, and you let yourself be pulled, and hoped that tonight might be a normal party after all.
You really should've known better.
————
Finally, Dani was distracted enough for you to go find Megan in the kitchen.
“Dude! She almost crucified me before you got here!” Megan whisper-shouted, glancing over your shoulder to make sure no one was eavesdropping. “And now she’s being all sweet like nothing happened. Where were you?!”
“I’m sorry! I followed your tracker and it kept blinking even after I stopped the Citi Bike guy and then his friend with a knife—”
“That was like, thirty minutes after I texted you!”
“I know, I know! But then I had to stop a dumpster fire and the smoke made me all sweaty and I got stuck on the wall again!”
“I thought we practiced you not getting stuck on things anymore! You know, breathe in, breathe out?!”
“We did, but my hand wouldn’t cooperate! So it was stuck to the wall for like five mi—”
“What was stuck to the wall?”
Both your heads snapped back to see Dani standing in the doorway, looking a little tipsy.
Silence.
“Um,” Megan gulped. “We’re just… um, talking about the huge spider that got into Y/N’s room the other day.” She bumped her elbow against yours for help.
“And it wouldn’t unstick from the wall, so we had to, you know, help it out?” You added, in a tone you hoped sounded convincing, sipping your drink to distract yourself from panicking.
“And it was really cute! So we wanted to let it free instead of, you know…” Megan made a swatting motion.
“Huh.” Daniela narrowed her eyes at the two of you. “So, cute spider, huh?”
“Very cute,” Megan said instantly.
“Almost like a… friendly neighborhood spider?”
You almost choked on your drink.
Dani’s eyes snapped to you immediately. “What’s wrong, babe?”
“Nothing!” Your voice cracked. “Why are we even talking about this? Let’s go back out, yeah?” You started steering her away from the kitchen.
“Wait.” She grabbed your arm, and it felt firmer than it used to a few months ago. “I wanna be with you for a second. Is that a crime?” she muttered, leaning close.
“What? No, not at all. I’m not going anywhere.” Your hands came up to rest on her waist.
“Are you sure? You’ve been slipping away from me lately…” She rested her head in the crook of your neck, tucking her hands into your hoodie pocket. “Mm, so good. Warm me up, will you?” Her hands started wandering, slipping underneath your layers.
“Dani, we’re in public—”
“So? I just wanna hold—”
Her hands stilled on your stomach when she felt actual muscle there. Actual, defined muscle, where three months ago there had been regular, soft, extremely-lovable Y/N Parker torso and absolutely nothing that felt like this.
She pulled back an inch and shoved both hands up under the hem of your shirt, right there in the middle of the kitchen with zero subtlety, and pressed her palms flat against actual abs.
“Oh my God.”
“What’s wrong?” you asked nervously.
“What do you mean, ‘what’s wrong’?” She still had her hands under there, patting like she was confirming it wasn’t a costume. “Since when do you have a six-pack, Parker?”
“I’ve been going to the gym. A lot. With Lara.”
She looked at you. Then looked over your shoulder at Lara, who was heaving in the hallway from climbing three flights of stairs.
“With Lara.”
“She’s really committed lately.”
“Uh-huh.” She patted your stomach one more time, slower, thoughtful, then let it go with a little squeeze at your hip that made you want to combust on the spot. “Well. Whatever you did, I’m not complaining.”
She kissed you again, shorter this time, and pulled back with an odd little tilt to her head, studying your face. "You also grew, like, two inches. And you stopped wearing your glasses. And last week you caught a full glass of orange juice out of the air after Megan knocked it off the table, and it was fast. Like, unnervingly fast. Like main-character-in-an-action-movie fast."
Your stomach dropped straight through the floor.
"Reflexes," you said, aiming for casual and landing somewhere closer to strangled. "Always had good reflexes."
"You once dropped an entire pizza because a bee flew at your face."
"That bee tried to kill me, Dani! You know how dangerous they are?!"
"Uh-huh," she said again, and this time there was something new in it, something sharper under the teasing, something that made the hair on your arms stand up in a very different way than it did before a fight. She smiled at you, easy and warm on the surface, and pressed one more kiss to your jaw before turning to go find Manon, and you would replay that exact smile a hundred times over the following weeks and understand, far too late, that it had been the exact moment Daniela Avanzini decided to start an investigation.
————
Three weeks later, you were on a slow patrol. Mostly just rooftop-hopping, half-listening to the police scanner app Megan had rigged for you, when Manon’s house party three blocks over turned into the worst five seconds of your life.
Some junior named Blake had decided the third-floor balcony railing was an acceptable surface to climb onto for a photo. He lost his footing, grabbed for the nearest person to steady himself, and succeeded only in yanking Dani, who'd been standing there minding her own business with a red cup, clean over the edge with him.
You heard the scream from two blocks away and knew before your brain had even finished processing whose voice it was, that you were already moving.
Blake caught the railing on the way down, dangling and screaming bloody murder, mostly fine, mostly an idiot. Dani did not catch anything. She had about a second and a half of pure freefall before a line of webs snapped taut around her waist, and then physics did the thing physics does, which is not stop. The web caught her, yanked her sideways hard enough to knock the air out of both of you, and the momentum carried the two of you straight through the gap between buildings instead of putting her neatly on a balcony like you'd planned.
"OH MY GOD—" Dani's voice cracked directly into your ear as you swung, one arm locked around her waist, the city tilting sideways underneath both of you. "OH MY GOD OH MY GOD WHAT IS HAPPENING—"
"I'VE GOT YOU, I'VE GOT YOU!" You fired another line, missed the angle by a couple degrees thanks to a very alive, very loud girlfriend suddenly attached to your hip, and the two of you swung wide instead of landing, sailing clean over the alley and out over the street, Dani's whole body curled tight against your chest, both fists locked into the fabric at your shoulders like she was trying to fuse herself to you through sheer willpower.
"WHY ARE WE STILL GOING?!" she screamed, directly into your face this time, because somewhere in the chaos she'd twisted around to look at you instead of down, nose inches from where your mask should've muffled the sound and absolutely did not. "IS THIS NORMAL?! IS THIS WHAT'S SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN—"
"MOSTLY!" You fired again mid-swing, aiming for the fire escape three buildings down instead of fighting the momentum. "IT'S FINE, I DO THIS ALL THE TIME!"
"WELL, THIS IS MY FIRST TIME!" Dani was still yelling, but her grip shifted, the white-knuckled panic softening into laughter, high and a little unhinged, the sound of a brain that had shifted from terror straight to hysteria. "I'M GONNA THROW UP ON YOU, I WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT, IF I THROW UP IT'S GOING RIGHT ON THAT SUIT–"
"NOT THE SUIT, ANYTHING BUT THE SUIT!"
"OH MY GOD WHY AREN'T WE STOPPING?!" Daniela's voice cracked directly into your ear, fists locked into your shoulders like she could physically stop the city from moving underneath you.
"GIVE ME A SECOND!" You fired another line, missed the angle by a hair, and the two of you swung wide instead of landing where you'd meant to.
"YOU'VE HAD LIKE FIVE SECONDS!"
"THAT'S NOT HOW PHYSICS WORKS!"
"I DON'T CARE ABOUT PHYSICS, I CARE ABOUT—" She twisted to look ahead of you, over your shoulder, and went stiff. A wall of glass and steel was rushing up fast, way too fast, filling the whole sky in front of you. "OH MY GOD THAT BUILDING. THAT BUILDING IS RIGHT THERE—"
"I SEE IT, I SEE IT, I'M HANDLING IT!"
"YOU DON'T LOOK LIKE YOU'RE HANDLING IT?!"
"CAN YOU MAYBE TRUST ME FOR ONE—"
She didn't let you finish. Whatever survival instinct took over, it decided the correct move was to fling an arm straight up and clamp it over your eyes like that was going to help either of you in any way whatsoever.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" Your voice went up an octave. "I NEED THOSE—"
"I CAN'T WATCH—"
"YOU'RE NOT THE ONE WHO NEEDS TO SEE, I AM—"
"OH MY GOD!" She yanked her arm away just as fast as she'd slapped it there, horrified at herself. "SORRY, SORRY, I PANICKED—"
You fired the next line half-blind on instinct alone, felt it catch, and the building slid past under your boots with about a yard to spare instead of the ten feet you'd been aiming for.
"See?" you wheezed, voice still shaking. "Handled it."
"You almost died. WE almost died. Because I put my hand over your eyes."
"In fairness, that part was mostly you."
"Don't you dare."
"I'm just saying, realistically speaking—ow!"
She smacked you in the chest, hard, still clinging on for dear life. "Land this thing before I do it again."
You caught the fire escape rail on the fourth swing, absorbed the impact through your knees, and used the last of the momentum to vault the two of you up and over onto the flat roof of the building beyond it, skidding to a stop in a crouch with Dani still wrapped around you like a very frightened, very furious koala.
Neither of you moved for a second.
"You're okay," you said, voice pitched low and rough behind the mask, and it came out shaking despite your best effort. "You're okay, I got you, I got you—"
"We went through three blocks," Dani said into your shoulder, still catching her breath. "Three. You said you had this."
"I did have it, it was just a slightly larger swing radius than I anticipated."
"A slightly—" She pulled back to stare at you, hair wild, eyes huge, and then smacked you square in the shoulder, hard. "You scared the absolute hell out of me, whoever you are!"
"Uh, I saved your life?"
"You gave me whiplash saving my life!"
Her hands, even mid-scolding and shaking with adrenaline, had started moving. Quickly and deliberately, her palms flattened against your shoulder blades and down your spine through the suit like she was reading braille.
You felt it everywhere. You felt it in places that had absolutely no business being felt in the middle of a near-death experience.
"You're okay," you said again, a little strangled, and set her down like she was made of glass. “Okay! Uh, bye? Sorry for…actually why am I apologizing? I saved your life! …Sorry I didn’t mean it like that… anyways be safe!” You started walking towards the edge of the roof again before—
“HEY!”
You froze dead in the tracks, assuming the worst. That’s it. Daniela realized it was you and she’s going to be SO mad and you’re in so much trouble—
“You’re just going to leave me on a roof?! You’ve never walked a girl back home or something?!”
Only if you knew. You thought to yourself as you swung the girl back to the party.
“Here we are. Happy?”
“Wait! Can you actually…can you please swing me home?” Dani asked, suddenly sheepish.
You blinked.
“Are you single?”
“No, I’m very happily taken, what about it?” She crossed her arms defensively. Cute.
“Tell your partner to walk you home then. Bye!” And you were gone.
“ASSHOLE!”
Five minutes later, after hastily changing behind the dumpster, you ended up walking Dani back home.
————
What you didn't know, walking Dani home that night, was that she'd spent the entire walk replaying the exact shape of your shoulders under her palms.
What you also didn't know was that two days later she showed up at Manon's apartment with a whiteboard and markers, already plotting your demise.
"Okay, walk me through it again," Manon said, not looking up from her nails. "You think your adorable, harmless partner is Spider-Man."
"I don't think. I know." Dani flipped the board around. "Look. Every single disappearance lines up with a sighting. The abs. Their eyesight. The reflexes. And three weeks ago I got picked up out of a literal freefall by a person with Y/N Parker's exact shoulder blades."
"Okay, but hear me out.” Manon paused ominously. “Have you considered just asking them?"
"They'll just lie again!" Dani dropped back onto the couch dramatically. "They’ve had four months of practice lying to my face. I need them caught. Actually caught. Mask-off with no-wiggle-room caught."
Manon looked up again for a second. "So what, you want to stage another almost-death? Because last time that went so well you nearly went through a Chase Bank."
"Not a real one." Dani was already grinning the specific grin that meant trouble for you. "A fake one. I lean off my own balcony, make a little noise, and Spider-Man, who apparently cannot resist me, shows up! Except this time I'm not letting them disappear the second they land. This time I fight back."
"You're going to fight Spider-Man."
"I'm going to get their mask off if I have to wrestle them into a chimney."
Manon lowered her nail file very slowly. "I love you, but this is insane."
"I'm willing to be insane for love."
————
You had no idea any of this was coming.
It was a Thursday, close to eleven, and you were three rooftops from Dani doing the kind of lazy web-check patrol you did when nothing was on fire, when you heard her voice carrying up from her own balcony.
"Spider-Man! SPIDER-MAN, HELP!"
You didn't even process the situation. Your body was already moving before your brain caught up.
She was leaning way too far over her own railing when you swung in, one of her hands theatrically clutching the rail while the other pressed to her chest like she was in a soap opera.
You caught her out of pure instinct, scooped one arm under her knees, and the second, the ACTUAL second her feet left the balcony, her whole demeanor changed.
"Why are you in Jackson Heights at eleven o'clock at night?" she demanded, immediately, inches from your face, not even a little grateful.
"Um-what? I'm saving you!"
"How did you get here so fast? I screamed twice. TWICE. You were here before I finished the second one. You're either stalking me, or—"
"I'm not stalking you, I patrol this whole—"
"—or you know exactly who I am, which means you know exactly who you are to me, which means…" She twisted in your arms, and you felt the exact moment she stopped pretending to be a damsel and started being a problem, one hand shooting up toward your face. "Which means this comes OFF—"
"Okay, HANG ON LADY!"
"Don't 'hang on' me, I've had a plan for a WEEK!"
She got two fingers under the edge of the mask before you managed to grab her wrist, which meant you were now mid-air, over a Queens sidewalk, wrestling your own girlfriend for control of your face while trying very hard not to drop her.
"Da—aggressive lady, I need at least one hand to actually land us!"
"Then LAND US, and then we're finishing this—"
You did not land gracefully. You landed like a person being actively assaulted by their own girlfriend, hit the neighboring rooftop at an angle, and skidded four full feet on your hip with Dani still attached, both of you tumbling to a stop in a heap of gravel and tangled limbs and one (1) very determined woman still going for your mask.
"Ow, ow, hurts! that's my whole face you're grabbing!"
"GOOD." She had a fistful of the fabric at your jaw and absolutely no intention of letting go. "Hold still."
"I'm trying to hold YOU still!"
You caught both her wrists this time, and for one full second the two of you just stared at each other, breathing hard while sprawled across a gravel rooftop like the world's least dignified wrestling match.
"You're stronger than you look," you said, a little winded, and immediately regretted it.
"You're squirmier than I expected," she shot back, and then, before you saw it coming, she wrenched one hand free and jabbed two fingers straight into your side, right above the hip, into the exact spot she'd known with total, ruthless certainty for six years was your single greatest weakness.
The yelp that came out of you was not a superhero sound. It was not even a human sound, really. It was the sound of Y/N Parker, specifically, betrayed by your own nervous system in real time.
Dani went very, very still.
"...Y/N?"
You didn't answer fast enough. That was answer enough.
Her hand was still curled around the edge of the mask, but the fight had gone out of her fingers. She wasn't yanking anymore, just holding on, like she needed something to hold onto. For a long second neither of you moved, gravel digging into your back, her weight still on your chest, the two of you just staring at each other in the dark.
She slowly took the mask off.
Daniela looked at your face like she was checking it against something in her memory, feature by feature, and you watched the weight of all of it land on her all at once.
"It's you," she said, and her voice cracked on the second word. "It's actually you."
"Dani—"
"How long?" She sat back slightly, off your chest but not off you, hands braced on your shoulders now instead of your face. "How long has this been you?"
"Since February." There was no version of that answer that sounded better out loud than it did in your head. "I got bit in February."
"February." She said the month like it hurt to say. "That's…that's the whole time we've been living together. That's every single time you came home late, every bruise you said was from a bike accident, every night I laid there wondering if something had happened to you and you were right there, you were RIGHT there and you let me think—" Her breath caught. "You let me think I was losing my mind. I started keeping notes, Y/N. On a whiteboard. Because I thought that was better than saying it out loud and being wrong."
"I know. I'm sorry. I should've told you."
"Why didn't you? Was it me? Did you think I couldn't handle it?"
"No. God, no." You sat up carefully, and she let you, still not quite looking away from your face like she was afraid it would change back if she blinked. "I thought if you knew, every night I left the apartment you'd be sitting there worrying if I was coming back. I didn't want to give you that. I thought I was protecting you."
"You weren't protecting me. You were protecting yourself from watching me be scared." Her hands tightened slightly on your shoulders. "I was scared anyway, Y/N. The whole time. I just didn't have a reason for it, so I had to invent one, and half the time I decided the reason was that something was wrong with me."
"Nothing's wrong with you. You were right. You were right about all of it."
"I know I was right." A short, humorless breath, not quite a laugh. "That's not the part that's bothering me."
You reached for her hand, and she let you take it, though her fingers stayed stiff in yours for a moment before they finally curled around your own.
"I'm sorry. I’m sorry for not trusting you with it. That was never fair to you."
Dani was quiet for a while, looking down at your joined hands instead of your face.
"I don't want you to do this alone anymore," she said finally. "Any of it. Not the patrols, not the injuries, not the deciding-for-both-of-us what I can and can't handle. If something happens to you, I want to know. I would rather be scared with the truth than calm because you lied to me."
"Okay."
"I mean it, Y/N."
"I know. Okay." You squeezed her hand. "No more of that."
Silence.
“How did you even know it was me?” you asked, still sprawled in the gravel.
Dani looked at you like the question itself was insulting. “Y/N. I have known you since we were fifteen. I have seen you naked more times than I can count, you think I wasn’t going to recognize you just because you put on a spandex and popped lenses over your eyes?”
“It’s not a spandex! it’s nano—“
“Shut up.”
“Sorry.”
Some of the tension finally left her shoulders. Daniela leaned in and rested her forehead against yours, both of you still sitting in the gravel with the mask crumpled somewhere between you like it belonged to someone else entirely.
"I'm still figuring out how mad I am," she admitted quietly.
"That's fair."
"And we're talking about this again tomorrow. Properly. Not on a roof."
"Anywhere you want."
She pulled back enough to look at you, and something in her face softened despite everything. "For what it's worth," she said, "I'm glad it's you under there. I don't think I could have handled it being anyone else."
“Yeah, it would’ve been pretty embarrassing.” You grinned stupidly.
"Don't ruin the moment, Parker." But she kissed you anyway, careful and a little unsteady, and for the first time in months, there was nothing left between you that either of you were hiding.
Yeah, turns out spidey-sense doesn’t come with a warning for girlfriends.
Some things you just have to get caught for.
END.

CHAPTER 5: HEROES, ASSEMBLE? (WE’D RATHER NOT) PART 2
SYNOPSIS: SEVEN SUPERHEROES VS A BUNCH OF CIVILIANS. OBJECTIVE: DON’T DIE. LIKE, FOR REAL THIS TIME!
continuation of: CHAPTER 5: HEROES ASSEMBLE? (WE’D RATHER NOT)
PAIRING: Manon Bannerman x Vigilante!Reader; Implied ex(?)!Catwoman’s Apprentice!Lara Raj x Reader; Katseye x reader (platonic)
WARNINGS: Lots of fighting, life-threatening situations, stabbing, fighting under water, mental distress from absolutely everyone, tiny bit of angst, Reader is blind (seismic sense) and also underwater which is not great for that, gender neutral Reader, usage of Y/N, set in DC Universe. This might be a little ridiculous I can’t lie
a/n: Yoonchae is Robin, Sophia is Superman’s kid and has powers, Lara is Catwoman’s apprentice. Everyone is older than 18. If this is your first time reading, I suggest checking out the series masterlist or it might be confusing. Happy reading!
Yoonchae used every trick, every kick, and every tactic she has ever known against their father, but couldn't land a proper hit because Bruce was, in fact, the person that taught her how to be Robin and develop her own style.
"AUGH! YOU'RE EVEN MORE ANNOYING WHEN YOU'RE NOT ON MY SIDE!" Yoonchae groaned loudly, dodging another batarang.
"…"
"CAN YOU SNAP OUT OF IT ALREADY? I'M GETTING A LITTLE ANNOYED HERE!"
"…"
"STOP BROODING!"
"…You're too slow." Bruce mumbled as he threw Yoonchae against the wall.
"Shit!" Yoonchae thought to herself as she coughed up from the impact. "Jokes aside, this isn't looking good. He knows me way too well! Think, if this gets out of hand, I won't be able to help Y/N. Fuck, I know you told me I'm the only one who can handle it, but how?! I want to help you but I can't help but think of what you'd do first! What would you do, Y-"
Yoonchae's eyes widened in realization.
"WAIT! I GET IT! If I want to beat Batman, I have to fight without him reading my moves! So I just have to fight like a completely different person! And who do I know better than Y/N?!"
Yoonchae stood back up straight.
"Y/N, I'll be so fucking pissed if I die because I closed my eyes mid fight like an idiot."
Exhaled slowly, widened her stance.
"I don't have seismic sense, and probably instincts of a fart compared to yours."
And closed her eyes.
"But I'll trust your ways because you trusted me to handle this!"
"BRING IT, BATMAN!"
Bruce's expression didn't change, and charged at Yoonchae like before.
"HE'S COMING! OKAY THAT WAS VERY MOTIVATIONAL OF ME BUT DOING IT IS A WHOLE DIFFERENT THING? HOW DO I—"
Before she could even react, Yoonchae dodged on instinct, covering her nose with one hand.
"Holy SHIT BRUCE! You smell so FUCKING BAD!" Yoonchae coughed but managed to redirect his hit.
"That worked! I don't know why he stinks so bad, but it definitely helped me understand my surroundings better! Okay, instinct instinct instinct, what would be my next move if I were Y/N? I can hear his cape shuffling on the floor, smell sharper from the left side, and looks like…" Yoonchae ducked again and slid between his legs.
"His front is wide open! So if I personally, was my older sibling, I would…"
Yoonchae suddenly jumped up and—
BONK!
"YOU'RE WIDE OPEN!"
…kicked him in the balls.
While that was probably completely immature, and something Y/N Wayne would never do, the fighting style Robin was mimicking was completely working, because Bruce couldn't read her moves.
And was currently slouching from the impact.
"And now!" She managed to find his shoulders after the kick, grabbed them tightly, and sent her forehead flying down to his nose.
And headbutted him. Not without missing half of her own face first.
"OW OW OW OW OW MY NOSE!" Yoonchae grunted but refused to open her eyes, because she also heard Batman wincing.
While they both jumped back to retreat, Bruce suddenly spoke.
"You've gotten sloppy." His voice was cold, nothing like the man who'd taught her every single thing she currently knew. "Relying on gimmicks instead of technique. Disappointing."
Yoonchae suddenly went very still.
"Embarrassing yourself won't help you get to Y/N quicker. Consider them dead while you play hero."
Silence.
"Cheap copies don't bring victories."
"Fine." Yoonchae muttered, clenching her jaw. "I'll end this right now then."
She kept her eyes shut, but her stance changed. The earlier hesitation was gone, and the smile was wiped off her face.
Yoonchae exploded into motion. She dropped into a kickstand, spinning her legs under his guard, then launched upward into a series of insane aerial flips:
LEFT! RIGHT! UP! DOWN! BEHIND! SPIN! FLIP!
And hit him with moves she'd never even tried before.
But Bruce was already adapting and predicting her rhythm.
"He's catching up."
"No one said I can't tweak things!" Yoonchae yelled.
She peeked with one eye, just for a second, saw his block, and completely changed momentum mid-air, using his own arm to vault over his head and mess up his timing. Bruce quickly pivoted, resetting his guard perfectly to catch her final blow as she fell.
"Okay, he's fully adapted. My pattern's dead. However…"
"To finish this up," Yoonchae said, breathless, grinning through blood and bruised ribs. "Let's mimic the single most annoying person I have ever had the displeasure of knowing."
Yoonchae jumped, but not in the acrobatic style that defined her as Robin, but twisted into something midair that looked sharp and showy, with toes pointed and spinning dramatically in the same exact way the person she was mimicking would because they wanted to and knew they looked good doing it.
"LARA RAJ KNOCKOUT SPECIAL!"
Her heel connected clean with the side of his jaw.
Bruce went down.
Yoonchae landed in a crouch, both eyes finally cracking open, chest heaving, blood still dripping steadily off her chin, staring down at her own unconscious father with an expression somewhere between triumph and shock. "Holy shit? I did it!" She exclaimed breathlessly. "I did it! IN YOUR FACE LOSER! Okay uh, Bruce, Bruce get up, please be unconscious later I need you to help me with Y/N!"
Bruce wasn't getting up.
"One time I need you this is what I get?! Shit—" Robin winced and started looking through Batman's things, grabbing whatever she thought could help. "Okay old man, let's go—" Yoonchae grunted as she lifted him onto her shoulder. "—save Y/N."
YOONCHAE VS BATMAN — WINNER: YOONCHAE.
"Holy shit, Bruce, you stink so fucking bad."
————
Manon realized that playing catch-me-if-you-can is only fun with superheroes when your partner is the superhero you're playing with, and that Y/N wouldn't be chasing her down the athletic building of Gotham U with actual killing intent like Cyborg currently is.
"Shit, I might have underestimated this guy. What's his deal anyway? Is he even a part of the team?!" Manon thought as she dodged another rocket launch from behind her.
"Your heart rate's elevated by ten percent, and your oxygen intake has gone down by two percent, my calculations are telling me that you are not very athletic." Cyborg said very helpfully.
"YOUR NARRATION IS REALLY STARTING TO PISS ME OFF!"
"Heart rate elevated by five percent, it seems like the target got embarrassed by my observation."
Manon's cheeks reddened a bit. "I'm plenty athletic! I did competitive bicycle freestyling in high school!"
"Target genuinely seems to think whatever she just said is a real sport. Performing a self-awareness test now."
Manon bit her tongue at that.
"I need to somehow lose this asshole for at least a minute. I can't really stop and admire the building map right now or he'll launch a missile up my ass, and if I take the stairs he's probably gonna fly up again!" Manon glanced at the elevator at the end of the hall. "I'll use the smoke pellet and go in the elevator, so he's going to think no one in their right mind would use an elevator while fighting an evil superhero, right?"
So without a word, while Cyborg did whatever the hell he was doing, Manon threw the little balls around the area, and disappeared.
IN THE ELEVATOR
"THIS IS THE SLOWEST ELEVATOR IN THE EXISTENCE OF ELEVATORS." Manon thought to herself with furrowed eyebrows, standing as quietly as possible while elevator music played around her.
Suddenly the music cut off, replaced by an irritating voice that Manon grew to hate in the past five minutes.
"What kind of an idiot takes an elevator during a life-threatening chase?" Cyborg's lifeless voice rang out in the confined space.
"An idiot who thought you didn't think of me as an idiot enough to do that." Manon said defeatedly.
"I already thought you were an idiot enough in the beginning of this so-called 'fight.'"
"I'LL RIP THE BUTTONS OFF YOUR STUPID ELEVATOR BODY." Manon said as she slammed her hand against the wall.
"I'd love to see you try."
Suddenly, the cab started moving up and down the shaft with concerning speed.
"Stop this—" SLAM "Right now—" SLAM "And fight me—" SLAM "Like a normal pers- STOP DOING THAT" Manon yelled as she kept getting thrown across the walls like a ragdoll.
"I'm having a lot of fun being an elevator, so no, thank you."
"BEING AN-" Manon's eyes widened. "Is his consciousness completely transferred to this elevator right now? So he literally IS the elevator?! How do you FIGHT AN EVIL ELEVATOR?!" Manon thought as she grabbed onto the railing. "Okay, let's see how fun this is, Mr. Elevator." Manon breathed out as she slammed her fist against the emergency button repeatedly, lighting up the cab in a red light.
The elevator stopped moving.
"YES! Okay, now let me just—" Manon started pushing the doors away from each other, climbing up to the nearest floor the cab got stuck at.
"Did I lose him? Is he still an elevator? Should I just ditch him and go to Y/N?" Manon thought as she ran on the fifth and the last floor of the gymnasium, overlooking the Olympic-sized swimming pool.
She was quickly interrupted.
"Meaningless scanning is over. Target's evaluation is pointless. The only result I am sure of is that your elimination is set in less than two minutes." Cyborg landed harshly in front of Manon, looking a little frazzled from transferring his consciousness back and forth.
"Right…I think I liked it more when you were annoying, like, literally a minute ago." Manon said weakly.
Cyborg didn't reply.
"Hello? You okay? Are you like, super evil now?" Manon asked as she took a few steps behind while Cyborg started moving slowly. "Did something mess with your little system? The elevator looked pretty old…" Two more steps back. "Helloo? Can you hear me? Hey Siri! Did your language settings change? Halloo?? Kannst du mich hören? (Helloo, can you hear me?) I also speak a different language at home…"
Manon looked less and less confident that she was getting out of here unscathed as Cyborg moved robotically towards her.
And for the first time since the fight started, she let herself feel scared.
"Y/N, baby, I don't think I can make it to you in time." She thought to herself as she braced for the impact.
"I'm sorry for doubting you like this, I know Yoonchae said to believe in your strength, and I really do…"
Manon looked back at the glass window behind her for a second, snapping her eyes back at the unresponsive man in front of her.
"But you're my love first and a vigilante second, and I know you're scared of feeling helpless like the day you lost your vision…"
She took three decisive steps back, hitting the glass with her back.
"And I know you wouldn't like me worrying about you like this but please…"
Cyborg charged at Manon full speed, not thinking clearly as his only thought was eliminating the target, and tackled her midair.
"I'll try to come back to you…"
Manon took the hit and desperately, with all the strength she had, held onto him, and started falling into the swimming pool five stories below.
"So do everything you can…"
SPLASH
The two hit the water hard, sinking beneath the surface.
Manon looked at Cyborg next to her, having let go midair not to get crushed, and noticed that he was unconscious, sparks bouncing off him relentlessly.
"Everything, you hear?"
She closed her eyes tiredly and let the water consume her.
"And come back to me!"
MANON VS CYBORG — WINNER: INCONCLUSIVE.
"Come back to me, Y/N!"
————
Y/N's eyes snapped open from pain as another attack grazed their shoulder.
"That was ten. Alright, from ten of his attacks, I've managed to tank seven of them, and now I know from the way waves clash against me when he's about to strike my shoulder and when he's about to attack my ribs. Maybe it's cause he's under control, but the pattern's getting kinda repetitive. It's been a minute and a half, I think." Y/N thought as they regained their position.
"I wonder what's going on up there. I can't sense anyone like this, let alone this guy's attacks, so please everyone, run, hide, anything! You don't have to be brave, just be safe!"
"You do not have time to be pondering about others' safety when your own life is at stake, child. I am doubting you can hold your breath for any longer. Prepare to die."
He sent another attack towards Y/N, which they completely dodged.
"What?!" For the first time since the fight started, Aquaman looked genuinely surprised.
He struck again, again, and again, but Y/N was dodging all of them.
"How is this child reading my attacks? They were unlucky enough to be thrown in the water instead of the people I was aiming for, and I sense no light behind those eyes of theirs, so they're just a dead fish sinking! So why do I not understand…"
He actually had to move to dodge an electrified batarang thrown at him, snapping his eyes back at Y/N.
"What's going on behind those eyes of yours, child of Batman?!"
Y/N could not tell if they were floating upwards or sinking completely upside down.
They couldn't sense anything without their body having a surface to identify the vibrations, nor could they really hear anything underwater, and already being blind, there was only one outcome for this battle.
They didn't want to think about it.
However, since the day Y/N lost their vision, and since the day they started training to become a vigilante now known as Shade, they knew that their reflex was going to become their life support and their partner in crime.
Well, other than Yoonchae, of course.
And having four senses completely shut off, feeling the water and the slashes dodge off their skin felt like a blessing in disguise, completely heightening their one and only remaining sense of touch, and learning by vibrations exactly where Aquaman was.
"I CAN FEEL IT! I can tell where he'll strike before it even touches me! That's great and all, but I can't just dodge uselessly and then drown and die?! And I don't think I can just swim up to the king of the seas?!"
Two minutes.
Y/N shook off the unconsciousness crawling up on their skin.
"Breathing's getting harder. I need to finish this now."
Y/N completely loosened all their muscles for the next attack, feeling something heavier approaching by the waves passing beside them.
"This should be it. Now just wait for a little longer…"
Aquaman was charging at Y/N with his trident, doing nothing but planning to stab them with it.
"Just a little more…"
Their surroundings were in complete chaos now, all the remaining fish having fled the scene in a hurry.
"Tiny bit more…"
Aquaman stabbed his spear right into Y/N's ribs.
"…"
"NOW!"
Before it could go in deeper, Y/N grabbed the trident and stopped the attack midway, now having a complete sense of where the enemy was while having him stuck in one place.
And having touched an object so strong, their seismic sense suddenly shot up into consciousness, startling Shade with a burst to their brain.
"HOLY SHIT! I CAN FEEL EVERYTHING NOW!"
One minute.
As quick as possible, Y/N grabbed the electric grappler from their pouch with one hand and shot it towards Arthur.
However, as they let one hand off the trident, Aquaman pushed it through them deeper.
They both crumpled from the impact.
Arthur started sinking, having gone unconscious from the shock, and Y/N realized that whatever their father was putting in these weapons was a little concerning.
However, a trident sticking out of them with thirty seconds of oxygen left in their body was even more concerning.
They started swimming up as quickly as possible, trying to escape death along the whiplash Aquaman created from the impact of his attack, the stabbing feeling making it impossible to concentrate.
"A little more! Please, one more push!"
Ten seconds.
"I won't die like this! PUSH, PULL THROUGH FOR A MINUTE MORE!"
Five seconds, the water current was approaching them in rapid succession.
"G—"
Before Y/N could think of anything else, a massive burst of water dropped down next to them, grabbed them haphazardly, and dragged them out of the water.
"WHAT THE—"
"Y/N! YOU'RE OKAY!" Sophia exclaimed loudly as she flew them out of the water, gliding across the area.
Y/N was gasping for air as they finally allowed themselves to relax a bit. "SOPH, YOU'RE—HOW'D YOU FIND ME?!"
"I WAS FIGHTING MY DAD AND I SUDDENLY UNLOCKED X-RAY VISION! AND I SAW YOU FIGHTING UNDERWATER! YOU DID SO GOOD! BUT IT'S OKAY, I GOT YOU NOW!" Sophia couldn't help but squeeze Y/N in a hug as they flew over the water, holding them tightly as if not to drop them.
"SOPH I'M REALLY HAPPY YOU'RE HERE, THANKS BUT OW—PLEASE I STILL HAVE A FORK IN MY RIBS!"
"I'M SORRY! IS IT REALLY BAD?!" She loosened her grip a little.
"No, it's manageable, don't worry." Y/N grunted while catching their breath. "Let's fly down though, yeah?"
"UH! About that!" Sophia panicked. "I'm still kinda fighting my dad! I just escaped for a second to grab you! But he's currently…" She looked back. "RIGHT BEHIND US!"
"Oh."
"SORRY! I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO! I tried everything! But he's just me, but stronger!"
"It's alright." Y/N panted. "We'll…we'll finish this together. Do you trust me, Soph?"
"Of course!"
"Then I have a really bad idea."
"It's the only idea we have, so go on!"
———
They formed the plan while circling the University area, conveniently dodging all of Superman's laser attacks.
"SOPHIA THIS WON'T WORK IF YOU DON'T PULL THE TRIDENT OUT OF MY STOMACH!"
"I'M TRYING! WHAT IF YOU START BLEEDING EVERYWHERE?!"
"JUST DO IT!"
"OKAY!" Sophia whimpered as she grabbed the handle of Aquaman's weapon, closing her eyes as she quickly pulled it out, being met with Y/N's sickening groan.
"ARE YOU OKAY?!"
"YES! Okay, now just…" Y/N panted weakly while wrapping the smoke bombs around the fork, securing it with a wire. "Okay, now remember, you CAN'T MISS THIS! THROW IT DIRECTLY AT YOUR FATHER!"
"So much pressure, Y/N!" Sophia complained weakly as she grabbed the trident like a javelin with one hand, holding Shade up in the air with another.
"READY? THROW!"
Sophia threw the trident right at Clark, who was charging towards them.
While he caught the weapon with ease, the smoke bombs exploded suddenly, momentarily stunning him and his vision.
"IT WORKED!" Sophia told Y/N, because they couldn't sense mid-air either.
"PERFECT, NOW GET HIM!"
While Sophia flew to her dad, both her and Y/N grabbed Superman and pushed him towards the nearest rooftop.
As they scattered on the ground, Y/N stood in position while Sophia grabbed her dad from behind, holding him there.
"I'll be quick, I promise!" Y/N said softly as they dug through their pouch, grabbing a tiny reinforced safe and opening it to grab a miniature Kryptonite.
"Do it, I'll be fine!" Sophia reassured confidently, restraining Clark with all she had.
Y/N held the Kryptonite tightly and held it right by Superman's chest.
"You'll be okay, I'm sorry Dad, just go to sleep." Sophia held her dad while reassuring him, getting affected by the force herself.
"Sophia, are you okay?!" Y/N exclaimed worriedly.
"Yes! Don't stop now!" Sophia grunted, getting weaker every second.
After thirty seconds of thrashing, Clark's head slumped against his daughter.
"It's okay, I got you, Dad, you're safe now." Sophia whispered quietly, kissing her dad's temple as she held him in her arms.
Y/N put the Kryptonite away immediately.
"…We did it." Y/N breathed out in disbelief.
"It was all because of your plan, I wouldn't have known what to do any other way." Sophia slumped against the wall. "I'm glad you're okay." She smiled up at them weakly.
"Only okay because of you, Soph. Thank you for finding me." Y/N smiled at her as they helped her up. "I brought a piece of Kryptonite from the Batcave just in case, otherwise it's stored in an impenetrable vault, so nothing will ever hurt you guys. Thanks for believing in me."
"Thank you for helping me realize who I am." Sophia said as she stood up with their help.
"A badass superhero?" Y/N asked, slinging their shoulder against hers because they were both struggling to walk.
"An amazing diver and javelin thrower, honestly I should've just become an Olympian!" Sophia beamed as she playfully slapped Y/N's arm. "I'm not doing this regularly."
"Wouldn't that be a little unfair?" Y/N said as they started going down the stairs slowly, heading to find the others.
"Life is unfair, Y/N, but we cope and we move on."
"Alright then."
Y/N AND SOPHIA VS SUPERMAN AND AQUAMAN — WINNER: Y/N AND SOPHIA.

Megan was having a crisis of a lifetime.
She realized, maybe a little too late, that running into the Music and Arts building while being chased by a demigod was the worst idea she'd ever had in her life.
"THIS ISN'T EVEN FUNNY FOR ME TO LAUGH ABOUT IT LATER! MATTER OF FACT, THERE IS NO 'LATER'! I'LL DIE HERE AND THEY'LL RENAME THE BUILDING IN MY NAME AND IT'LL BE CALLED MEGAN'S CENTER OF MUSIC AND ARTS AND THEN A RICH PERSON WILL DONATE STUPID AMOUNTS OF MONEY AND THEY'LL RENAME THE BUILDING AGAIN AND I'LL BE DEMOTED TO A CAFETERIA NAME! I DO NOT WANT TO BE REINCARNATED AS A CAFETERIA!" Megan thought to herself as she moved through the hall without making a sound.
She could hear Wonder Woman's menacing steps approaching slowly, as if to taunt Megan and let the anticipation kill her instead.
"Literally how is ANYONE supposed to fight her?! How is this not already a national emergency?! I COULDN'T HAVE EVEN PREPARED FOR THIS!" Megan genuinely stopped for a second and silently let out her grievances. Then looked down at the weapons in her hand and got even more dejected.
The lights suddenly went out.
"Huh?"
A broken piece of a locker struck the wall right next to her head.
Instead of continuing to run down the hall, Megan took a sharp right and bolted downstairs, following the light from the EXIT sign.
"Ohmygod she found me in the dark she found me and then broke a metal locker and swung it right at me and I'm genuinely supposed to do something ABOUT IT?!"
Having one hand over her mouth, Megan grabbed her phone with another, typing shakily as she ran down the stairs.
"HOW TO DEFEAT WONDER WOMAN NOT CLICKBAIT"
She hid under the nearby table while reading through the webpage quickly.
"Okay, so I grab the nearest object…grab it tightly and…what? 'Shove it up your ass RIP BOZO YOU CAN'T DEFEAT THE GOAT'? ARE WE SERIOUS?! ONE TIME I NEED GENUINE HELP I GET TROLLED BY SOME VIRGINS ON FACEBOOK?!" Megan leaned her head against the surface, looking back to make sure death wasn't standing behind her.
"I remember Y/N telling me that Wonder Woman likes precious and vulnerable things. Am I not precious and vulnerable? What about me in this scenario exactly screams 'DANGEROUS AND INTIMIDATING?!'"
Megan looked around for anything, ANYTHING that could help her distract Diana Prince from sending her to the Amazonian version of Heaven.
And only managed to find a bunny from the puppet show students must've been practicing with.
Not having time to complain about her ridiculous luck, Megan just flipped the desk over and hid behind it, put the bunny on her hand and started the performance of her lifetime.
"Oh no! Is anyone here? Mr. Bunny's lost! I'm very tired and hungry and I need energy to get back to helping little babies! sob" Mr. Bunny wiped a tear from his eye. "Please help me! I'm scared and without me my friends will be scared too! Are you nice, very tall lady in red tights?" Mr. Bunny asked Diana.
"I'm…" Wonder Woman stopped moving and genuinely looked like she was fighting something from within.
"What the FUCK?! That WORKED?!" Megan thought to herself in disbelief as she kept making crying sounds as Mr. Bunny.
"If I stay here tonight, I won't make it to my friend's birthday party, and he's been very sick lately! Please, could you take me to my friend, Diana Prince?" Mr. Bunny kept pressing, and Megan winced at the absolute nonsense she was spewing.
"I do not…" Wonder Woman struggled again.
"I think I get it! Whatever is controlling her is slowly eating her from the inside, and pointing out how different she's acting from what she actually believes in is hurting her! And isn't she like, all rules and morals?!" Megan grabbed her phone again with the hand that wasn't occupied with Mr. Bunny, and typed: AMAZONIAN RULES AND MORALS, clicking the wiki page of the woman she was currently facing, great.
She scrolled down to find the section AMAZONIAN RULES AND PRINCIPLES; RECITED.
"Okay, how do I make sure my words reach her and break the control? I feel like if Mr. Bunny started reciting her set of morals she might feel mocked? And I don't want Mr. Bunny to be sliced in half?" Megan thought as she looked around the place properly for the first time.
She was in a big auditorium.
"We're in a theatre. So they have those big microphones to speak to the audience! Just need to get there somehow…"
Megan pulled Mr. Bunny off her hand and aimed it at Diana.
"CATCH ME, WONDER WOMAN!"
And threw him at her.
While Diana was busy figuring out what was going on inside her head and analyzing the rabbit that just got launched over to her feet, Megan darted towards the backstage, grabbed the microphone and hit everything she thought was an ON button.
The speakers came to life with a loud pop.
Megan scrolled through the page and started reciting the words.
"The Amazons of Themyscira are bound by one sacred rule above all others: protect the innocent. Never weaponize strength against the vulnerable. Never become the very thing you were born to fight against." She started reading shakily, glancing over to look at Wonder Woman's reaction.
"Diana of Themyscira did not leave her home to be anyone's weapon, she left to be everyone's shield Fun facts about Diana Prince she appeared as a guest star in the first season of WAIT THAT'S THE WRONG PAGE!" Megan screamed a little too loud in the microphone, trying to find where her finger slipped on the phone.
"Fuck she's moving closer! Just when it was working!" Megan whined into the microphone.
Wonder Woman threw her shield right by the younger girl's feet, walking up on the center of the stage.
"NO! PLEASE WAIT!" Megan cried out as she started climbing the lighting ladder instead while continuing. "Diana of Themyscira, princess and champion, carries this code not as a rule imposed upon her, but as the core of who she is — to be used as a weapon against the vulnerable is not merely against her training. It is against everything she has ever chosen to be. So please, please SNAP OUT OF IT ALREADY!"
From her position on top of the ladder connecting to the lighting rigs, Megan noticed that Wonder Woman stopped moving.
And looked like she was seriously contemplating something.
"Did it…did it work? I can't, I can't just get down. I'm scared, of course I'm scared. But I'd rather be scared and guilty than dead and innocent! So I'm really sorry!"
On top of Diana's head, right next to the lighting platform Megan was hiding on, hung a big chandelier. Probably for opera and drama shows.
Megan cut the rope it was held up by.
BOOM.
The chandelier smashed right on top of Wonder Woman's head.
Megan watched in horror from her spot in the air, waiting for the dust to settle to see what happened.
Diana was down, lying unconscious in the rubble.
"Oh my god." Megan muttered as she climbed down, making her way towards the demigod she just knocked out. "Um, miss, are you okay?" She asked quietly while shaking the woman's shoulder.
Diana's eyelids fluttered open. The unnatural glow that had clouded her gaze was gone, replaced by her natural, warm eyes. She groaned, raising a hand to rub her temples as she sat up amidst the shattered glass and plaster of the ruined chandelier.
"My head…" Diana muttered, looking up at Megan, who was currently holding her breath and clutching her taser. "Where… what happened?"
"I'm Megan, and please don't kill me, I have this dance class I want to go to on Monday!" Megan blurted out, taking a cautious step back.
Wonder Woman blinked, looking at the crushed light fixture, the discarded rabbit puppet on the floor, and then back to the terrified girl. A look of profound realization and immense gratitude washed over her face.
"The fog has cleared," Diana said softly, standing up with effortless grace. "A dark spell... a villain had seized my mind, bending my strength to their cruel desires. I was a passenger in my own body, forced to hunt you. But your words... you reminded me of my sacred oath. You broke the thrall."
"Wait, so… Did my speech actually work?" Megan squeaked. "And, uh, sorry about that chandelier."
Diana let out a warm laugh. "Do not apologize. You did what you had to do. To face a compromised demigod with nothing but your wits, a toy rabbit, and a fierce determination to save a stranger from herself… That is true courage, Megan. Themyscira itself would be proud of such resourcefulness. You are a true hero."
Megan was turning crimson by the second.
"Right! Yes! Thank you! I'm so happy I almost killed you!" Megan finally let herself slump over, laughing in disbelief. "I'm gonna live, oh my god, I'M ALIVE! THEY'RE NOT GONNA TURN ME INTO A CAFETERIA!" She suddenly sat up again. "WAIT! Miss, I know your head probably hurts, but my friends are in danger! Please help!"
Diana blinked in realization. "I see, the others are also under control, then. Let's go save them, human child."
"YES! I'm not really a child tho—AH!" Megan didn't get to finish her sentence as Wonder Woman suddenly picked her up in her arms. "Okay! OKAY, LET'S GO!"
MEGAN VS WONDER WOMAN — WINNER: MEGAN.
"WOW, THIS WAS SO WORTH ALMOST DYING!"
————
"I wish a bazooka fell from the sky so I could absolutely PULVERIZE THIS GUY! I'M SO ANNOYED FROM ALL THE DODGING!" Daniela thought to herself as she ducked behind another trash can.
From his position on top of the building, Green Arrow kept shooting from his bow without a second thought. "Stop dodging, it only wastes your remaining oxygen, if you just stood still this would be over in three seconds."
"DO YOU NOT REALIZE THAT I CAN'T HEAR YOU FROM ALL THE WAY UP THERE?! SPEAK UP—" Daniela yelled up at him as she dodged another arrow.
"FOOLISH GIRL PLAYING GAMES WITH ME, YOU THINK JUST BECAUSE YOU CAN DANCE YOU CAN ALSO DODGE EVERYTHING I HAVE TO OFFER?" Oliver yelled back.
"GET DOWN HERE SO I CAN KILL YOU!" Dani screamed up at him again.
"I'm getting tired, I won't be able to dodge soon, what do I do?!" Daniela thought.
She'd been quietly counting every single shot Green Arrow fired at her for the better part of three minutes, and somewhere around arrow number eleven, something in the back of her brain that had spent most of her life doing eight-counts in a mirrored studio finally clicked into place.
"Wait." She ducked another shot, barely, heart hammering. "Wait, wait, WAIT."
Another arrow. She rolled left.
"That's…that's not random!"
She wasn't imagining it. Every shot landed on a beat, specific in a way that had nothing to do with combat efficiency and everything to do with rhythm, and buried somewhere under the adrenaline, Daniela recognized it because she'd had this exact song stuck in her head for the better part of a week.
So without thinking, she stopped hiding and ran into the open.
"ONE." She ducked.
Arrow two, same spacing.
"TWO. Wait, that's exactly one second apart, why is that exactly one second apart?!"
Arrow three. She dodged it clean this time, actually anticipating it.
"THREE. FOUR."
Arrow five clipped past her ear and she spun on pure reflex as if she were back in a Tuesday rehearsal instead of getting shot at.
"FIVE, SIX, SEVEN, EIGHT—"
The next arrow landed exactly where "eight" ended, right on the pickup into a new phrase, and Daniela froze mid-step, genuinely stunned.
"OH MY GOD. OH MY GOD HE RESETS ON THE EIGHT!"
Another round started immediately, a fresh eight-count with the same tempo, and this time Daniela was dodging in time like her body had already memorized the choreography before her brain caught up.
"ONE TWO THREE FOUR—" She rolled left. "FIVE SIX SEVEN EIGHT—" She spun clean through the gap between two arrows. "OH MY GOD, ARE YOU SHOOTING ME TO THE BEAT OF 'MIDNIGHT SUN?!'"
Green Arrow said absolutely nothing and just kept firing perfectly on time.
"WHO KNEW GREEN ARROW LISTENED TO ZARA LARSSON?! THAT'S NOT GONNA WORK ON ME ANYMORE, BUDDY!" Daniela screamed up at him, delighted.
Suddenly, Oliver jumped down from the top of the building, landing a few meters away from Daniela.
"Song's over. The new remix just dropped."
"Huh?" Daniela stepped back unconsciously.
"IT'S THE REMIX WHERE YOU DIE! COME HERE!"
"WHAT KIND OF A LAME MILLENNIAL COMEBACK IS THAT?!" Dani yelled at him as she ran. "I SAID FIGHT ME FAIR AND SQUARE NOT CHASE ME LIKE A LUNATIC!"
Before any of them could get far, a voice from afar yelled at the curly-haired girl.
"Dani catch me—catch me—DANIELA CATCH ME!" Lara yelled as loud as she could, crashing into her full force a few seconds later.
Before Green Arrow could react, a force of speed smashed into him and disappeared with him.
Before Daniela could complain, her opponent was literally gone.
"OW! What…what just happened?" She winced while holding onto Lara.
"I just got that idiot Flash to run me back to Gotham but like, slower than the speed of light, so I saw you and decided to kill two birds with one stone. Thanks and You're Welcome." Lara huffed, leaning against Dani.
"How did you do that?" Dani asked, still processing what was going on.
"I'm just so smart and amazing, you know?" Lara smirked. "He kept running me around like an idiot and I told him that I'd throw up on his suit if he didn't stop, and mercifully he ended up running this way."
"How'd you get him to slow down?"
"I annoyed the living shit out of him, I think it makes his brain hurt or something." Lara started breathing heavily. "Hell, even my ears feel like bleeding."
"Lara, are you going to throw up?"
"Probably, yeah."
"Okay, let's get up!" Dani announced loudly, holding most of Lara's weight, her own head pounding. "Should we do anything about them?"
Lara looked back at where Flash and Green Arrow disappeared.
"I don't feel like it."
"I hoped you'd say that. Let's go find the others."
"I hope stupid, stupider and the stupidest are alive."
DANIELA AND LARA VS GREEN ARROW AND FLASH — WINNER: DANIELA AND LARA.
"Which three?"
"You know who I'm talking about."

Thirty minutes later, the police had arrived at the scene, Bruce was up and functioning, and everyone from the squad was hanging around the ambulance Y/N and Manon were sitting in and sharing a blanket, both still drenched from their own encounters.
"Can't believe we all got jumped by the Justice League and survived." Y/N said, still somewhat in awe.
Manon snuggled closer to Y/N, grinning tiredly. "Told you to have some faith in us."
"I did, obviously. I was just…scared."
"Should've seen our faces when you took the hit for Manon and let Aquaman drown you." Yoonchae said quietly.
"I didn't let him drown me, I went with him."
"I'm pretty sure nothing in that fight was done willingly, Y/N." Lara pointed out. "You had a giant fork stuck to your stomach."
"...That was my only way out."
"I'm sure other options could be considered."
"Sophia's X-ray vision considered me so now we're both alive."
"Turns out I'm really good at this stuff!" Sophia beamed from where she was standing next to Daniela.
"I'm just happy you made it back to me." Manon whispered to Y/N, tightening her grip on their arm. "I don't know what I would've done if you didn't."
"Hey," Y/N leaned their head down to be closer to Manon. "I'm sorry I worried you, but I don't know what I would've done if I saw you get tackled into that water instead. I had to do what I had to do."
"I did get tackled into the water."
"Thankfully it was a pool and not a lake, Mon. I know you could easily swim out of the pool."
"Actually, the robo dude helped me out of there. He's pretty chill when he's not all up my ass."
"Did you knock the evil out of him?" Y/N teased.
"You know it!" Manon grinned as she kissed their cheek.
"I'm most impressed by Megan, honestly." Sophia started. "Would've never expected her to beat, let alone escape, THE Wonder Woman."
"She's either insanely smart or insanely stupid, I haven't decided yet." Lara added.
"Smart. Definitely smart," Y/N argued. "She knocked you out with a surprise window attack that one time."
"That doesn't count." Lara sneered.
"NOPE! DEFINITELY COUNTS!" Yoonchae grinned teasingly. "THAT WAS THE BEST MOMENT OF MY LIFE!"
"YOU LITTLE SHIT—"
"Speaking of," Manon interrupted Lara. "Where is Megan?"
Everybody looked up.
"GUYS I'M HAVING SO MUCH FUN!" Megan yelled in absolute delight from where she was flying in Wonder Woman's arms. "DIANA'S THE COOLEST EVER! I'M SO HAPPY SHE ALMOST KILLED ME!"
Yoonchae huffed quietly. "I could fly around like that too…"
"With a grappling hook?" Y/N teased. "Someone's jealous."
"SHUT UP!"
"At least someone's having a good time." Manon added with a grin, pointing at the sky with her head. "Unlike Yoonchae who's totally fuming right now. Not a good look, sweets."
"NOT YOU TOO!"
"Doesn't feel good to taste your own medicine, huh?!" Lara smirked victoriously.
"GUYS STOP THIS RIGHT NOW—"
"Yoonchae and Megan sitting on a tree," Sophia and Daniela weren't above teasing either, singing together. "K-I-S-S—"
"YOU PEOPLE ARE THE WORST! I'M LEAVING!" Yoonchae screamed out, walking away rapidly.
"BUT WHAT ABOUT YOUR G—"
"STOP!"
THE END.

Guys what do we think? It might be a little rushed by the end SORRY!! I hope you enjoyed it or I'll be really embarrassed because a lot of this is just ridiculous LOL
Thank you sm for reading! Plz let me know your thoughts
Cheers!
(If you see me repost this no you don't my accounts acting up)
Heyy I finally got time to read the new part and omg it was so good, I loved how they just tried to annoy the justice league out of fighting them lmao. Very interested to see if they actually try to fight and get their asses handed to them or if something else interferes and saves them.
You mentioned wanting to write more slice of life and romance stuff and that’d be great! Maybe we could see how shade and Manon got together at one of the galas. Shade doesn’t seem the most approachable, I feel like they accidentally met because they were both looking for somewhere to hide and Shade did something stupid and made Manon laugh. Or the girls finally get to interrogate Manon and Shade about their relationship. There’s definitely some cute stuff to write about
Yo!! So happy to see you again!! Thankyouthankyou, I’m almost done writing the next chapter and hopefully you’ll like how it goes 🤫
Thank you sm for the ideas I might cook something up once I’m done with this chapter
Meanwhile if you’d like to see some blurbs or short stories I’m all ears👂
Hi guys! Once I’m done writing chapter 5 part 2 of Hit and Run, would you be willing to see a spinoff with Vigilante!Reader x CatWoman’s apprentice!Lara? Like if they ended up in a relationship/romantic interests instead??? 👀 I’ll continue the OG series like usual ofc but have this as its own thing? What do we think
Democracy has spoken🙂↔️What do you guys want to see specifically with Manon cause I feel like I’m running out of ideas and I kinda want the next chapters to be more slice of life and romance💔💔what are everyone’s thoughts enlighten me please

Yoonchae probably delighted because finally someone does it instead of Batman, Manon just worried af, Daniela and Megan definitely freaked TF out, Lara was probably terrified a little bit
As for sophia I feel like she would've been extremely conflicted because superman probably taught her that killing was a last resort but it was Yoonchae that was killed and she would've done the same if jon or conner were killed
So yeah angst, angst, angst, and another gallon of angst
Btw do tim and Damian exist yet?
Yes! I feel like Y/N would be going through a very hard time but also leaving it up to others if they want to cut the ties or not because their sister came first always. Definitely didn’t speak to Bruce for a while though 🤔 🤔. Manon would definitely be insanely worried because that’s her partner and she didn’t want to lose them to darkness but also she’d do the same in their place. I feel like Sophia would definitely have a very harsh reaction at first but would slowly come back after realizing the severity of the situation?? Maybe with Dani’s help. I think Megan’s reaction would be the most surprising and she’d support it 100% from the beginning because it’s HER Yoonchae we’re talking aboutt?? 👀 what do u think 🤔
Also I find Lara’s character VERY interesting idk why I’m so fond of her but I feel like she genuinely cares about yn and wants the best for them despite being snarky aff (i might actually write a what if? Scenario with her 🤫) but she’d be one of the most understanding ones for sure cause she understands the vigilante life
To answer your question:
Im sorry I haven’t thought about that yet LOL SORRY!! Maybe yess maybe noo?? What roles do you think they’d play in the story?
HOLYYYY PEAKKKKK!!! 🙏🏼😭 glad u loved the young justice suggestion!! can’t wait for part 2 😋
Thank YOU🫵!! I tried to live up to the expectations of the peak idea🙂↔️ I also watched that young justice episode to understand better LOL hoping to publish part 2 soon 🙏
