Mizukage Mei swallowed. A droplet of sweat ran from behind her ear, over her neck, to the valley of her breasts. There, her heart beat so loudly that she feared he would hear it. No one knew the exact powers of the 'Warring States Era' shinobi. She knew the level of power she was up against. Mei's battle scars reminded her of her losing fight with Uchiha Madara.
She noticed how charmingly he steered the conversation. Mei put a finger to her cheek in a thinking pose. "Of course we can help each other, Lord Shodai." She didn't want him as an enemy.
"However... There is no where for you to go? I regret to inform you that the people you knew, are long gone. It might be better and more ethical to return to the Lord Jashin's domain, and leave the living world to the living. To put you back in the coffin, I could use your assistance with repairing the halves of the lid. My nails won't the survive manual labour of crafting you a new lid, but I will sacrifice them, if you insist. After all, it's my job to make sure the people in my domain are well taken care of." She didn't engage with his options.
Hashirama’s eyes widened when she said they could help each other, because there was nothing he could offer her. He was but a relic of the past world that died a long time ago.
“I don’t have much to offer…” he whispered into the dark and stood up, towering above her. He felt claustrophobic here, since this basement felt like a crypt. Nothing was alluring about that.
“Now that I think of it… the coffin sounds like a very boring place. I find it too dark, old-fashioned, and tasteless,” he said. He wanted the blazing rush of a battle, the strong pull of a freezing river stream, raw injuries, the crackle of a scorching fire, and the burning sensation of bitter alcohol in his throat. The unrestrained joys of living. None of which were in the coffin.
Mizukage was right. Hashirama had nowhere to go, no one to meet, and no celebration to attend. His friends didn’t leave him.
They were all just dead. Which was forgivable.
“Maybe you should have me killed, Mizukage, that would make my stay in the coffin somehow half-bearable,” he suggested suddenly after a sharp inhale, his eyes gleaming. This way, he wouldn’t have to linger. Hearing his own words aloud made him quiet for a long moment.
He raised his hands to gesticulate theatrically. “However, death is, frankly, quite boring too.” he moved his head to one side and took a few breaths. He felt the urge to escape the stillness of death. “I suppose, as everyone sentenced to death, I have the right to make one more wish before my execution.” He measured her with a long gaze. “Or two.”
His eyes lingered on her face, which made his expression soften. “Have you ever had sake with yuzu cheesecake? It unexpectedly goes well together. ” He said with a playful smirk.
Madara smiling (mostly at Hashirama and Gai):

"Mikoto, you've been seeing things again, haven't you? The visions…" Hashirama's eyes glinted.
"If you want to tell me, I'll listen… we can figure it out."
Mikoto blinked owlishly at him. He wanted her to tell him what she’s been seeing? Suppose it was no secret at this point that she’s clairvoyant. But she hadn’t expected the offer. It was… sweet, in a way.
“You… will listen!”
She’d been getting hit left and right with them, all at once. Some were real minor, some were awful, some were simply avoidable.
Mickey stared at him some more before she took out on of her journals. It was held to her chest then she tentatively offered it to him to read. One would think it was nothing but scribbling a of a madwoman, with a description of the event and who’s included (if she knew names), the dates, little doodles of key items..
“I.. haven’t been sleeping because of them. They visit me while I sleep too, dad.”
"Who is it? Can you describe them?" he asked, his voice smooth and warm. Of course he would listen.
He took the journal and started to turn the pages, one by one, each picture different.
"It looks scary." He admitted. He had nightmares, but everyone who lived through the war had them, it was expected. But with Mikoto... those weren't just nightmares.
This was worse.
They always need to disagree with each other and say completely different unserious sentences, or else they'll explode

Headcanon Uzushiogakure
While Uzushiogakure is located on the coast of the Land of Fire, they are not a part of the Land of Fire. Instead, the Uzumaki clan once acquired a portion of the Land of Fire and turned it into the Land of Whirlpools. For a while they still stood under the comand of the daimyo of the Land of Fire but only a year after their forming, they became completely independent and became their very own land, with their own daimyo.
The first daimyo that was elected, was the member of the Uzumaki clan, who had led his people to the island and fought for their independency. This man was an direct ancestor of Mito Uzumaki and her father, who was the daimyo and Clan head during Hashirama's and Madara's era. He was married to a princess of Takegakure with whom he had five children: Four sons and one daugther.
All four sons and their families died during the attacks and destruction of Uzushiogakure or during the purge afterwards, making Mito and her descendants the only surviving members of the royal family of Uzushiogakure.
Headcanon Mito Edition
While Mito is extremly strong, she's not a shinobi herself. When she was little, she wanted to become one because she was fascinated by them, but being the only daughter and a female, her father didn't allowed it. Although she was still taught martial arts and how to handle certain weapons, this was intended solely for self-defense in emergencies, as well as to help her develop discipline but also control over herself and her body.
Instead of making a fighter out of her, Mito was raised to be a lady, known as the Uzumaki princess, and later became a priestess. Consequently, her training focused primarily on her attitude, stance and demeanor, for example how she walked, sat, stood, moved and spoke, as well as the mastery of various arts such as playing instruments, singing, dancing, painting, calligraphy, origami, embroidery, knitting, crocheting, sewing, carring for others or tea ceremonies. She also learned how to project presence, seriousness, and grace but also how to stay in the background without the others forgetting about her presence and all of that without raising her voice. Thanks to this training, a mere glance from her was often enough to let those around her understand what she was feeling.
In this regard Uzushio and the Uzumaki Clan was still very old fashioned. Mito's duty didn't lay in the protection of the island and it's people, but in getting married, form alliances, do politics and bear children. Luckily for her father, this was also mostly what Mito wanted for herself, otherwise he would have had a hell of a time with her, as Mito always had a very strong will and could be very headstrong. It didn't helped that she also had been very spoiled by her family and island for being the only daughter, the youngest child and the only princess. When Mito wanted something, she got it. Which just made it harder for her, when, for once, it seemed that she wouldn't get her way, after her father had begun arranging her marriage to an older man in order to forge an alliance with another country, where she was to marry a son of a daimyo.
In the end she still managed to convince her father to end the deal and to let her marry Hashirama instead. This led to the alliance between Uzushio and Konohagakure, which pretty much saved Konohagakure from going bankrupt and falling apart.
