Sad news my friends, Ed Brubaker will no longer be writing Captain America. :< I knew this day was coming, but I wasn't expecting it to be so soon. I hope he continues to write Winter Soldier though, that is his dream project, his baby so to speak. 

Ed Brubaker has had a fabulous notorious run on Captain America, he's managed to do the impossible and bring back a character that everyone hated. Now Bucky has his own series as Winter Soldier and has a wonderfully rewritten backstory that makes his character believable.

Brubaker was also able to take Captain America where it was left off from sounding campy and mediocre at best and turn it into one of the best selling titles Marvel has. Steve Rogers became a man struggling with PTSD in a society that's ideals have changed. His country changed from what he was used to growing up in the Great Depression to modern technology and everyone taking their advantages for granted.  

Steve Rogers became a man who grew with the new time period, but his ideals never changed for his country.  He was still the same man, with a big heart that cared for the people.  Steve taught Bucky everything he knew, Bucky continues to grow without Steve in Winter Soldier.

I wish Brubaker all the best of luck from the bottom of my heart.

Joe Simon was 98 years old, he passed on Wednesday night (December 14th).

Can I say how much I love the second page? I mean, obviously I love the first one for reasons of Bucky angst but damn.

He could describe Natasha in any number of ways, but he calls her his best friend. I love that. First and foremost in his mind isn’t that Natasha is his ‘lover’ or even his ‘love’, but that she’s his best friend. 

I mean, at this point Bucky has very few friends (being the Winter Soldier didn’t allow for much fraternizing), but Natasha is always there when he needs her. And, Bucky being the needy dude that he is, he needs her a lot.

God this ship. I think part of why I love it so much is how it subverts tropes. Natasha is the competent one, the logical one, and the one being relied on. Bucky is the one you have to worry about letting his emotions get in the way most of the time, not Tasha.

And this is why I love this pairing, because Bucky sees Natasha as his best friend.  Bucky has few friends in general; (Sam, Toro, Steve, Namor, Logan, Nick Fury, Jim Hammond, and Natasha.)  Even when he hosted the New Avengers in Steve's apartment, he was distant with them.  If I remember correctly there was even a panel where Bucky questioned if he could trust any of them.

Bucky is very cautious, and rightfully so, with whom he trusts with personal information.  Natasha is one of the few he can confide with and that understands him, this is especially seen in The Man With No Face.  In every relationship there's always the one person to keep a level head, and that's Natasha.  

I can go on and on, but I'm not going to spam you guys with 5 paragraphs.

My family has served in every war, some have had to pay the ultimate sacrifice in the end with their lives. Though they did it willingly because they love their country and what it stands for.

I want to say thank you to all of our Veterans, and their families.  You've sacrificed a lot to make this country a better place for all of us.

Happy Veterans Day back at ya Cap. One of the greatest moments of my life was telling Stan Lee about how Cap was part of my inspiration to join the Army and after he looked at me and said, “Cap would be proud to hear you say that son”. Thank you Marvel and Thank you Stan Lee.
