Hey, y’think you can see it, hoverboards made just for pets. I think I could start my own business. [Marc smiles] Not like I need the money but eh, worth a shot.

I feel it'd be a good way to pass the time. Trying to find different things to invent even if they're silly. You might come up with something truly useful eventually. [Bob smiles and shrugs]

Being focused on his path as he was, and the silence of the other man’s approach, it was no surprise that Billy was startled from the sudden noise from behind. It probably didn’t help that he wasn’t exactly the type of man who enjoyed surprises. 

At first, when he turned to see who had spoken, there was a look of confusion on Billy’s face; as if he wasn’t quite sure what was standing in front of him. Flesh and blood? A ghost? Or maybe he’d finally gone insane and was beginning to hallucinate. After a moment, he settled on the first option, for the sake of his mental state. His expression quickly turned from confusion to a combination of recognition, surprise, joy, and a fourth, indescribable, emotion. 

“Bob?” he’d finally utter, the word both feeling both alien and familiar on his tongue. “Is it really you?” Billy asked, stepping forward to put a hesitant hand on the other man’s shoulder. “I thought you were dead. For good, this time.” His tone was that of suppressed joy as he tried to understand the situation and not let his hopes get to high. During his time as Scout he’d seen the Sentry ‘die’ or on the brink of death before, but this recent time had a finality about it. Though, admittedly, he’d held a small hope that he’d see his friend alive again, even if such a thing brought the threat of the Void with it.

At first Bob is afraid he’s going to startle and run off, maybe hold his ground and start shouting, but when Billy’s expression turns to one of joy Bob gives a timid smile before moving a bit closer to the other for a short hug, patting his back before he pulls away completely as his smile fades and his expression goes a bit somber. 

“I thought I was dead for good too. It’s what was necessary at the time, but I’m…back now. Not entirely back to normal per se, but…I don’t think things will really ever be the same as before.” He pauses, unable to avoid his gaze from drifting to the large scar on Billy’s face, to the stub that used to be his arm, and he’s filled with that same guilt from before. He can’t remember not being guilty about it, even when he wasn’t aware of the Void’s true nature he still felt it was his fault. He was supposed to protect Billy from such a thing. “…maybe that’s for the better though, you know? I-I’m hoping so.”

If anything, he’s determined to keep the Void away for Billy. He deserves the peace of mind that would come from Bob finding control of both his own powers and the other part of himself as well. Bob glances at the ground for a moment before he looks back up to make eye contact, “How are you though? Have you been uh…holding up alright?”

The figure cackles sharply, “I think you have it all wrong.” He stands and circles the man, leaning to speak right into his ear. “You’re never alone, are you? You’ll always have me won’t you? You just have to remember my name. I know you have it somewhere in that decrepit brain of yours…” There’s another cackle, he stays where he is until Bob decides to act.

Bob covered his ears. There was nothing to remember. Nothing! He was Bob Reynolds, a normal man! …. right? He crawled under the comforter on his bed and tried to shut it all out. He was alone. He was alone. He was…

“… I’m alone…” He didn’t nearly sound as brave as he hoped.

“Well…” He creeps to the edge of the bed where he rips the cover off of Bob to reveal his curled up figure, to let in the cold. “You’re kind of alone. Considering dear old Lindy isn’t coming back.” He looms over the man, sharp teeth shining in the black mass that is the Void’s body. “You remember her right? The wifey you loved so much?”

Suddenly the voice is right in Bob’s ear again, “Maybe you shouldn’t. Might upset you.” He cackles. “There’s something more important than her…what’s my name?”

Now that I think about it, I haven’t watched that in forever…it’s a good movie though.

I thought about getting a pet snake and naming it Solid. I would laugh every time.
