You stir at the sound of quiet cursing coming from the living room.
'What the hell.' You think, confused. You were supposed to be home alone. So who was in the living room??
You shift so that your legs are dangling off the side of the bed, cringing slightly at the feeling of cold air hitting your exposed legs. You definitely should've worn sweatpants to sleep. But your train of thought is disrupted by a grunt.
'Right, who's in my living room?'
The wooden floor groans under your socked feet as you sneak to the door. You pray that whoever is here doesn't notice. 'Do I have any weapons?' You mindlessly wonder as you tiptoe down the hallway, 'I mean, I have these bad boys.' you smirk as you stop in the hallway mirror to flex your forearm before another yelp startles you into focusing again.
You quietly round the corner, fist raised in case you need to pounce, only to see...
Jongseob? Playing Fortnite? On your TV????
"What are you doing here?" You whisper-yell, baffled by how relaxed he is on your couch while you were preparing for battle. He jumps at your sudden exclamation.
"A 'good morning' is nice too." He sighs after catching his breath. "You didn't look outside?"
You only spiral deeper into confusion at his words. "What are you talking about?" You squint and he rolls his eyes playfully. Only you wouldn't notice the blinding blankets of white forming outside.
He stands, setting his controller on your coffee table, walking over to your window and pulling back the curtain. "It's snowing," You gasp at the sight.
"Wait." You cut him off. "Why are you here though?" He stares at you blankly. "You asked me to come over."
"Oh... I did do that." You look away bashfully and then cross the living room to stand next to him, looking at the wonderland that was your yard.
"It started snowing when I got here. I didn't wake you up because you looked really peaceful," he relays casually. Your heart clenches at how effortlessly cute he can be.
"You know what.." You start as you walk back to your room, expecting Jongseob to follow you (he does). "I haven't played in the snow in ages." Your voice is muffled as you rummage through your closet. What happened to your snow jacket?
A triumphant yell rips from your throat as you pull the jacket out from the depths of your closet. You turn and show Jongseob. "Let's go outside, Seob." You hum, shrugging on the jacket. He looks away with a grimace.
You take his hand, pout ready on your lips. "It hasn't snowed like this in years, please?" He hangs his head with a whine at your plea. It was unfair how well you knew him.
"Alright." He mumbles, biting back a smile when you cheer delightedly. "But," he tuts. Grabbing your arm and pulling you back into him. "If I get sick from the cold, I get to hold that over your head for the rest of our lives." You stare at him with furrowed brows before smacking his arm playfully.
"I'll take my chances."
...
Jongseob wishes he could say no to you.
He thinks as soon as you step outside, because despite being wrapped up in warm clothes from head to toe, he could still feel the frost creeping in on his bones.
You push onward, stomping through the thick layer of snow with your sneakers. Jongseob treading lightly behind you, stepping carefully in your footprints to avoid falling.
The snow covers your yard beautifully, and you can't help the way you sigh at the comforting sight of snow. Jongseob raises a brow at your calm expression.
"How can you look so relaxed right now? I can't feel my fingers," he grumbles. You snort at his complaint.
"The snow looks so beautiful." You marvel with a jab to his side. "It is kind of nice." He agrees after looking around.
The trees, branches cradling handfuls of snow. The sky, a little grey against the stark white crystals falling from the sky. The icicles, hanging over every ledge as if hand placed by snow fairies.
He had to admit, it was beautiful.
And just as he started to enjoy it..
Poof.
He hunches forward at the sudden blow on his back and then turns around to see you waving with a devilish grin.
You burst into laughter at the look of disbelief on his face and in your fit you don't see him making a snowball of his own. When you collect yourself and stand up straight again, Jongseob is nowhere to be seen.
"Seob?" You call. No answer.
"Jongseob!!!" You shout, turning around. Where did he go?
You don't get a chance to think when a snowball in the face throws off your balance and knocks you right onto your butt. You also don't get a chance to be upset about falling over when you hear the sound of Jongseob impishly giggling. And you wish you had a camera to capture the sight ahead of you.
Jongseob stood in front of you. His shoulders shaking with laughter. You began to laugh along with him.
He walks over to you with a soft smile and plops down right next to you.
"Aw, look at you, having a good time." You smile smugly.
"Oh shut up." He scoffs, tackling you into the snow. You roll around for a bit before you eventually win the grapple, having him underneath you and breathless.
"I win." You whisper.
"For now," Jongseob whispers back.
The two of you sit like that for a second, admiring each other, until Jongseob can't help himself anymore and boldly grabs you by your scarf. He pulls you flush against him, pressing soft kisses all over your face while you snicker at his sudden outburst.
You flip over, lying on your back next to him with a sigh. Jongseob turns to face you with a snaggle-toothed smile.
