Turning the doorknob gently, you sluggishly discarded your jacket and bag on the couch, shoes carelessly removed too.
With tired eyes and exhaustion slowly seeping into you, you dragged yourself towards the kitchen, and your sight was greeted by your boyfriend’s back, Seokmin, facing you.
You took a few steps closer and him, immediately feeling your presence, he turned to you with a smile, setting aside whatever he was holding. “Y/N! You’re back! Have you ea– what’s wrong?”
Seokmin closed the distance between the both of you, his hands went to your cheeks and gently cupped your face, lifting it up softly so you can look and face him. A slight frown etched on his face, worry and concern pooling in his eyes as he took in your gloomy and exhausted appearance.
Although you have too much to say, you opted to stay silent. Instead, you slowly wrapped your arms around Seokmin’s waist, pulling him closer to you for a hug. You let your head rest on his chest, and by hearing his hearbeat made you warm and calm a little.
“Do you want to talk about it?” He softly whispered, one of his hands gently stroking your hair, the other still caressing your cheek gently. You just heaved a sigh and slightly shook your head.
Seokmin looked at your figure hugging him, noticing how frail you looked at the moment. It saddened him seeing you in a state like that and all he wanted was for you to be happy seeing your wide and bright smile, but Seokmin understands that not every day will be like it. And right before he decided to love you, he swore he will do his best to always keep your smile on your face and if he can’t, he will always be there for you and will do what he can to bring it back.
“You know, baby,” he paused, a smile made its way to his face when you gripped your hands tighter because of how he used a nickname on you. “I’m always here for you, alright? I won’t push you into telling me what happened.”
Removing his hands from your cheek, he wrapped his arms around you, his chin resting on the top of your head. “I just want you to know that it’s okay to be sad, it’s alright if you want to cry. And not every day will be a good day, but it’s only for twenty-four hours, right? And you’re not alone; I’m always here.”
You felt tears welling up in your the corner of your eyes, threatening to fall as Seokmin continued whispering sweet and comforting words to you. You gripped your hands tighter against his shirt, few tears started to roll down on your cheeks.
Seeing your shoulders shake, Seokmin just hugged you tighter, slightly swaying your bodies as he started to hum a soft melody. The two of you stayed like that for a long time, but Seokmin didn’t mind. Feeling you calm down, he held your arms and pulled away slightly.
“I’m sorry for–” you were cut off as he shushed you gently, cupping your face on his cheeks once again. “You don’t have to say sorry, Y/N.” He placed a soft and gentle kiss on your forehead.
“I’m always proud of you, baby. You did great today.”
