the sexual tension between a healthy portrayal of emotions vs me saying “i think i am going to die” everytime i feel a strong emotion
i am meowing so much right now and you wont even give me a treat im so upset im wasting away
unfollowing celebrities on instagram and instead following museums and libraries and national parks and nasa and art galleries and visual artists and writers and local indie bookstores is sexy
thinking about the time i was struggling to open my water bottle in class, and a girl that i had spoken to maybe 3 times came up to me and went
"let me help you baby"
and then proceeded to struggle to open the bottle
i wouldve fallen in love right then & there ngl
“I want deeper connections with the people around me. I need to reach out more. Because not everyone leaves. Sometimes if you reach out, the person you’re trying to reach will be right there waiting.”
— Susane Colasanti
粋 (iki) “understated elegance”
“Iki” is a Japanese aesthetic ideal. It refers to subtle elegance and sophistication.
One of the aspects of iki is caring about the sensibilities of others. What you wear should make others feel comfortable, and wearing stylish clothing is a way of respecting those around you.
This doesn’t mean that you can’t wear what you want, but neither does it mean that you can’t think about how your appearance affects others. Iki is somewhere in between.
to mend and be mended and mend and be mended and mend and be mended and
it can be tempting to live your life like a prequel. to live as if you’re setting up your own story.and once you lose the weight, once you have the money, once you graduate school, once you’re in a real relationship, once, once, once. then finally, you’ll begin to live, and everything you do up until that point is some kind of half-life, some unimportant foreword you can skip. don’t do this. inhabit your life completely. sink fully into the wealth of your existence. the power to manifest is in the fearless owning of who you are, so that you can shape where you’re going.
being individuals together is so intimate. let’s read different books but curled up next to each other, let’s visit a coffee shop so you can study & i can write, let’s just be near each other
a lot of people have different "forever" moments, but do you know what i think a good forever moment is? the calm lucid period after a mental illness episode. the blue skies after the storm. even if they're short they're moments that really make you realise there's still hope and that you're not done for
This
you deserve so much good in this life. i know that’s hard to remember, to accept. it’s a much easier thing to argue when you know your flaws and your mistakes. but i just want to try to give you even a little reassurance that you do deserve a healthy, happy life. you shouldn’t need to settle for anything less than that.
when hayao miyazaki said that true love was two people inspiring each other to live…recognizing just how hard living is, putting one foot in front of the other every day, how easy it is to lose our passion for it…… that’s the real shit
A conversation with the cashier at a bookstore; a whisper in between shelves at a library; a joke with that barista; a confession at a church: sometimes it’s amazing how small interactions with strangers can make you feel as though not all of humanity is bad.
