the night shift : qian&jonghyun
"And if you’re not in the drawers, on the keyring, in my pocket, on my arm or on my desk you must be…not here." Qian gently opened the piano cover. She hadn’t expected to find her apartment keys in the piano- more a last ditch attempt then anything. After helping two of the janitors move stuff around while she asked them about the people on campus, she thought perhaps she’d left them there, but no luck. Apperently stuck with keys to the music building for the night, Qian now hod to fgurre out exactly what she was going to do for sleep. At least it was Saturday and tomorrow she had no classes to teach, but she still needed a bed. Leaving the rehearsal room after shutting the piano cover, she meandered through the halls, looking at the posters for various events, students advertising lessons or concerts. Want adds for back up musicians, notices to use hand sanitizer before and after piano practice on the school’s pianos. No help to her. What she wouldn’t give to have realized her predicament earlier, when calling for a master key would be non-invasive to someone elses sleep.
She yawned while walking into the performance hall. Long and beautiful, comfy chairs gave way to a small stage where another piano sat. She knew the chairs here were at least padded. Maybe she could catch a few hours restbefore everyone else got up? The chair did not serve as a very comfortable bed. Arms sticking out permanently made it impossible to lay down, while the back was too stuck in the upright position to lounge. Beyond that the cool spring night air felt frigid through her cardigan. This was shaping up to be one hell of a night.
Jonghyun had a lot of trouble falling asleep tonight. He laid on his bed wide awake. He didn't know why he was so restless but it was really starting to irritate him. He tossed and turned in bed. He groaned to himself as he got out of bed. Sleep just wasn't happening tonight. Jonghyun headed towards the bathroom to wash his face and fix his hair. He quickly got dressed and headed out. Since he was so restless he figured playing the piano might help him. Music always helped Jonghyun. It was sort of therapeutic to him. Jonghyun had keys to all the music rooms on campus. He even had keys to the performance hall.
Seongnam after hours was a bit creepy. It was his first time being on campus this late. Jonghyun quickly made his way to the performance hall. As he let himself in he quickly locked the door behind him. He let out a sigh of relief once he was inside. "Safe and sound." He said to himself. Jonghyun made his way to the white grand piano sitting on top of the stage. The white piano was his favorite. Before he could uncover the keys he thought he heard someone else in the room with him. Since he couldn't see anyone else in the room he continued to play the piano. He wasn't play any song in particular he was just sort of playing random melodies. Being on campus after hours gave Jonghyun a bad feeling. He quickly stopped his playing when he realized he indeed wasn't alone. "Hello?" He said nervously. "How did you get in here?"
