victorious
Getting to hand off the last of the degrees to the Psych students, Victoria could have cried, but she didn't. Instead she grasped the gentleman's hand, whispering a quick congratulations, before the Dean stepped up to the podium, to give the final closing speech of the day. She'd been offered tenure at the University, which worked out perfectly, this was her passion and the graduation ceremony was her favorite part.Â
She hadn't had the time to move her stuff yet. Into a permanent residence, off campus, giving her the separation she needed, but letting her live year round by her work. Passion or not, getting to close to her studies proved to be overwhelming. The years had taught her when to take time to just be Victoria. The school had given her another day to get her stuff out so they could clean in time for the next staff member who needed housing, but tonight, she decided to blow that off. She'll work twice as hard the next day to get done. Tonight, it was time to bask in the fact she'd made it and found a place to call home.Â
She couldn't get home fast enough. Her stomach rumbling. Hopefully the food would be ready by the time she got there. Finally opening the door to her house, she almost jumped back as the action caused a stack of books to fall over. The hazard of trying to combine two households into one so fast. "Honey? Can you let me in?" She called opening the door as much as she could, enough that she could peak through, in time to see her boyfriend run around the corner, sliding in his socks, untied "kiss the cook!" apron flapping in the air. "Careful!" She said when he got over to the door, knocking the books- his books from the last semester over. "How'd it all go?" He said when the door finally opened. She paused momentarily before grinning "They're giving it to me! I got a tenured position!" Victoria said, before getting swept up in his arms, him chanting that he'd told her so. "They didn't give it to you, you earned it!" He said after he'd calmed down a bit. The two now sat in the kitchen, eating the dinner he'd kept warm for her while she was off doing her professor-y things. She just looked at her plate, not wanting to come off as cocky, despite knowing she'd worked hard to get this. Feeling a hand on top of her own, she looked up at him. Staring into her eyes was almost too much, just like it had been from the first moment they met.  "Hey, let me be proud of you Professor." Unable to come up with anything else to say she said "You should let me be proud of you. Prove it to me next semester. Took a peak, guess who is going to be my T.A.?" His eyes widened "You're kidding- and you promise you didn't pull any strings?"
Jonghyun had returned to SNU, much as she had previously. He'd thought she'd left for good, so when the two ran across each other, ironically on the same lawn they'd met. This time, he needed help finding out who was heading up the psych department when the previous head had suddenly retired. Of course she'd been temporarily put in charge while they hired a new person. Putting her in charge of the psychology grad students. That'd been the year previous. "Do you think I want to loose my job? No- same rules apply as last year." Their status as a couple had been kept in utmost secrecy. It helped both had been honest with each other, so dating off campus had become their thing, rather than sudden meet ups in her office. Well, unless it was a particularly slow day for the both of them. She'd never been happier.Â
