The issue with yesterday's stream is not that they want to do this or that campaign, it's how little respect they have for fans' time and money. Those who only keep their sub for ouaw don't re-sub unless they have reason to believe the campaign is still ongoing in the present. Instead of communicating clearly that the last episode was the season finale they deliberately kept the hype going knowing full well expectations were built around a potential finale this week, all so that they could bait as many people as they could into watching the announcements and hopefully continue to give them money. Now think about how many people had their patreon sub run out after the last episode and then re-subbed because they believed there was more to come. Or how many people moved their schedules around or begrudgingly stayed up until the morning because they were being told they would regret not doing so. Not everything is about DnD, people invest time and money in their campaigns and they don't seem to understand how either works.
Let's not pretend it was a silly bait-and-switch, it was unprofessional behaviour which unfortunately at this point is on brand for them. From deliberately manipulative and scammy actions like that to constant invasion of fan spaces and crossing boundaries leading to parasocial behaviour for which they of course blame only the fans, to not finishing their campaigns and not even bothering to be upfront about what their plans for said campaigns are, campaigns that people also invested time and money in.
They don't seem to understand that they are a company now, not a bunch of friends playing games in a living room. Selling products comes with fulfilling obligations and transparent policies. We are not their friends, we are customers and customers deserve to know what they are paying for and whether their end of the bargain is gonna be upheld. For myself, I know that I'm not gonna give them any money anymore or bother watching their streams. I will watch whatever I feel like watching as a casual fan whenever edited videos are published on YT and whenever the right mood strikes. I can't trust their words and I certainly don't feel like getting invested in any of their campaigns is worth it, odds are they will simply get bored and move on to something else. And I definitely don't want to be baited into watching something because for some unfathomable reason they assume that if they are excited about something then everyone else will automatically switch gears and get excited as well.
Less empty hype and broken promises and more honesty and proper long-term planning unless for every new fan gained they want to bleed one. Which is what has been happening for a while now.
