there’s one line in obsession that i haven’t heard anyone talk about that really caught my attention when i first watched. it’s in the first scene where Nikki asks to stay the night at Bear’s house, before she asks him to sleep with her.

it’s easy to play off as a stutter but it really struck me that in this moment, Bear subconsciously viewed Nikki’s presence in his home as a burden of space. like she could be fucked up on drugs like him and Ian thought, but instead of being worried, he’s busy thinking about how he can’t use his bed bc she’s in it. every tiny thing about this guy reveals something about his dogwater personality, whether his actions are malicious or not.

maybe i’m too woke but i’ll always be a little irritated that nobody cares about the 8 million stolen artifacts in the British Museum’s possession until it’s the Caryatid. only 800,000 artifacts in their collection (aka 1/10th) are available for viewing, and only 2 million can be found on their online database. 6 million artifacts are sitting in storage and will probably never be seen by human eyes again for a very long time. but nobody has anything to say about sculptures from every other conceivable time period and country that the museum absolutely has stolen. nobody cares about the carelessly uncatalogued artifacts that got stolen by staff and sold on ebay a couple years back. like wow you guys really don’t care unless it’s effecting white people
