"miranda the secret celebrian" or "sauron has a new love interest" were not the implications of that scene.

yes, i saw a few people either celebrating or being disappointed bc they think sauron flirting with miranda means he's like, over galadriel or smtng... FRIENDS, I NEED US TO BE SO FOR REAL RN!!! I NEED US TO TURN ON OUR MEDIA COMPREHENSION SKILLS JUST FOR A MOMENT!

his obsessed ass was talking about how the light reflecting on the hair reminded him of GALADRIEL, and added "of course", lmao! he didn't even look at miranda's face! he looked away longingly while reminiscing of galadriel and her hair. do we remember how the light reflecting galadriel's hair inspired the creation of silmaris that bewitched morgoth? are we connecting the dots?

HOW does any of this read as sauron flirts with the girl bc he likes her??? this mans has lost his mind to the obsession he has for galadriel, and he won't ever recover from it, as we know.

and i really don't dislike celeborn/celebrian BUT is it so difficult to let these two go for a minute and enjoy what the show is giving to us as of rn? i'm sorry but i'm so bored and tired of c+c being brought up ALL THE TIME when it comes to haladriel/galadriel! can't we give it a rest for a bit? i want to talk about how absolutely INSANE it is that it was just literally confirmed to us that this mf sauron thinks of galadriel while flirting with others. THIS IS THE LEVEL OF OBSESSION I NEVER THOUGHT THE SHOW WOULD EVEN HINT AT!!!

the way this lays the groundwork for the centuries of sauron groping for galadriel? the way he is so in deep that he basically admits this out loud, matter-of-factly?

but nahhh, it's celenorn/celebrian, what about celeborn/celebrian, are they secretly celeborn/celebrian...

honestly i just don't get the fun of hyperfixating on the npcs from the lore instead of going feral over the dark romance insanity we are getting with sauron x galadriel.

To counter the former point, ie she's celebrian, there's as conclusive proof as we could get in the media coverage:

If she was a known character, the actress would have done cast interviews.

They would have soft-launched her the way they did Charlie. It's almost impossible to say now, "oh that woman you barely know is playing Celebrian"

Short answer: I sincerely hope not and if it does wind up on goodreads it's absolutely not coming from me.

Long answer: Please. Fic readers, I implore you to please stop adding my fanfics to goodreads. It makes me extremely uncomfortable. Fic writing is an unpaid hobby for me and to have it critiqued publicly alongside traditionally published works does not sit right with me. Awhile ago, someone let me know Remain Nameless was on goodreads, so of course I looked it up. And wow, yikes, found some real nasty reviews there, and while there were also positive ones too, the whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth. I understand people like to do this because they like having their fic reading counted towards their in-app reading goals. But please, if people could consider how this once again blurs the line between unpaid fanworks and traditional, capitalist media. Fanfiction is a separate form of media, it's written and shared for free, it exists outside mainstream publishing. It's also not a great idea to keep drawing attention to fanworks on the same platform as the actual trademarked properties. Just my view as a fic writer, and i hope people will respect my wishes in regards to my stories, though i obviously have no way to enforce this.

Same, same, same. I know some of my fics are on there and I absolutely hate it. I wish whoever added them had never done it. It bugs me immensely to have a free, for love and joy, work of fandom to be slapped up there and starred next to for-profit works. There is a vast difference between someone's personal fanworks rec (or even don't rec) list on their blog or tumblr or whatever, and fanworks recced on an Amazon-owned, corporate-controlled website.

i fully get the vastly well-intentioned motives behind adding fics to goodreads. people want to count it to their reading goals, they want to be able to spread the word about something they love, they want another platform on which to discuss it, they've seen other fics on goodreads before so they didn't think twice about it before adding another one, etc etc etc. but beyond the points raised above, all of which resonate with me, there's also a kind of...emotional component? an empathy issue?

it can be really demoralizing writing for a fandom sometimes. i'm regularly told i lose all rights to the things i've spent hundreds of hours working on the second i post them to the internet. i'm told i can't participate in reader-oriented spaces anymore, even though i'm still very actively a reader in this community, unless i'm willing to be caught unawares by some scathing or thoughtless commentary about my work. but i'm just like...a person? ya know?

a person sharing something i made for free on specific platforms and places of my choosing. a person who would have appreciated being given a choice. i feel very powerless in fandom a lot of the time. and i think i've made it clear in my online presence that i believe in fandom as a community that exists outside a capitalist system, so it's difficult not to feel helpless when seeing people posting entries for my work alongside professional, for-profit products. it's the same reason i'm resistant to the trend of calling fanfics 'books'. they're not the same thing, not in creation, consumption, intent, or impact. and i personally think its unfair and unhealthy for a fandom community to blur lines between the two.

The really hilariously ill-conceived part of the Twitter rate limiting thing is that comments and retweets are the same kind of entity as tweets in the back-end database, they're just "parented" to whatever tweet they're commenting on or retweeting, and the rate limit they've placed on the API simply counts how many of those entities you've requested without checking a. whether they're the children of another entity or not, nor b. whether you've already seen that particular entity today.

Thus, the limit isn't really "600 tweets". A tweet, each comment on that tweet, and each retweet of that tweet all count against the limit as you view them. For example, if a quote-retweet crosses your dashboard, the quote-retweet itself and the little preview of what it's responding to that appears above it each count separately against the limit. Click into that quote-retweet to read the comments? They both get counted against your limit a second time, as does each individual comment you read – and heaven help you if any of those comments were themselves commented upon!

The upshot is that if your account isn't verified, using Twitter in the manner that its own monetisation model assumes – and, indeed demands – it will be used can easily exhaust your entire daily allocation of tweet views in as little as a couple dozen engagements.
