boblena fam, you guys should watch finding emily. it's a new romcom movie and it's giving the modern/collage au boblena, trust!
"rhaenyra triumphant" was a great episode thematically and tonally and i wish the whole show was this tight.
but i also have to mention that having her menstruate to show her struggle to be mentally sharp while politicking was really unnecessary.
just got screamed by some anon for saying that while i'm tired of the male-centric superhero media, i liked masters of the universe.
according to them, i'm not allowed to mention how our media is male-centric and how that's an issue. mind you, i was actually hyping said movie, but all they took away from that positive post was that i was being a "childish woke"...
goes to show you how misogynistic our media and fandom landscape still is. yeah, nothing wrong with liking the male-centric content, but the fact that it has been dominating the mainstream culture is the issue. having the female-centric hero media is important not only for women to see themselves as heroes, but for men to learn to emphasize with women as equals too.
masters of the universe was so fun and full of whimsey, why is there not more hype for this movie?!
like, i'm tired of the male-centric superhero content, but this one feels refreshing and colorful and endearingly funny. the movie has its funky visual and tonal identity. he-man is hot and cute and i also love the dynamic between him and teela, it's the kind of romance that works imo and doesn't feel heteronormative.
one thing i really liked about the sheep detectives is the colors and how the town looks.
like, it's been a while since we got a true visual whimsey onscreen!
i see people say that hotd is going too far with certain depictions like aemond kissing alicent, but i don't see anyone mention how the show is very much puritanical in the way it preaches purity.
like, it's giving a modern hayes code with how the story punishes alicent for being a "bad woman," and how every female character seems to have this inherent softness that is spoiled by masculine ambition.
makes you think.....
ok, whatever we might feel about hotd, emma darcy is giving a world class performance... like, wow? i'm rarely impressed by acting nowadays bc let's be real, great actors are rare to come by.
i'm just scared that after hotd, they won't get many great roles bc it does seem that the industry is biased against visibly enby actors, you know?
i'm not a zutara shipper but that interview where the live action avatar cast is cringing at the fans saying they wish zutara could happen is so bad.
like, idk. this is why pr training is important for actors bc why are you humiliating a significant part of the fanbase? i'm not saying that the actors had any bad intentions, it's just that they were not considerate at all.
all blame is on those interview trends, though. pulling up some fans and fan content is a horrible practice that does nothing other than humiliate the people who love the media that is being promoted.
there are rumors that mj dies bc zendaya is wearing black on this press tour, but unless zendaya herself decided to be out, i can't see marvel doing something this stupid?
zendaya and tom are like the two of the biggest stars of the mcu at this point. and they are the it couple of the franchise. people go to the cinema to see them as much as they go to see the "spider-man."
i do think, however, that the studios maybe wishes they had casted zendaya in a more major role than peter's gf. so, i think that they want to correct this by merging some other character with mj in the mcu.
dex has been lowkey flirtatious with karen in both the og show and ddba. like, there is always this smug playfulness in his tone/expression when with her.
so, i wonder why there are not more people who find their dynamic sexy? personally, i would like to see more of their interactions in s3 of ddba.
bill told aj that she needs someone who would take care of her and josh is shown to be very keen on taking care of people around him... just saying.
one of the most interesting themes in asoiaf subverts the messiah trope. daenerys was supposed to be the mother of messiah but then became the messiah herself.
hotd the show had a great opportunity to expand upon a similar subversion it showcased with rhaenyra and jace. jace was obsessed with his mother being the chosen one which subverts the trope of the mother believing her son is the chosen one.
but unfortunately, they never really went there in a substantial way. hotd is entertaining but also there are so many missed opportunities.
am i the only one who really dislikes davis in not suitable for work? and not just bc i prefer aj with josh at this point.
so surprised that i haven't seen anyone discuss just how sexist he is. like, he is a definition of "nice guy." he feels entitled to women's romantic and sexual affection as a return to his "niceness" and uses women around him only to toss them away when he comes off of his high.
sure, i hope he grows to be better, but i also think that aj deserves better either way.
anyone else already shipping rhaena x gwayne?
since asoiaf is a fictional story that offers permissibility for discussing incest without the real world standards, can i say that jacaerys x rhaenyra would make for a more fucked-up but also a more interesting momson dynamic than aemond x alicent?
i love writing yelena centric fics and have several ideas but nothing tangible or ready to be posted for now.
so for the sake of some inspo, i wondered if there are some concepts/ides you guys would like to be explored in the fics for her? bc i feel like people tend to be too reserved about her and i think it's a pity as she is a truly interesting character to play with.
i mostly write boblena but i'm open to experimenting, don't be shy and feel free to send me your suggestions in my ask box if you want to!
