that thing with the stranger things gifs..
i’m fine if you repost my gifs and i take it as a compliment but what’s really bugging me is that they’re usually posted on other platforms (twitter) without credit.
people preach that you should always give credit when you repost/post edits - which you should do, 100%! - but why is that not the case with gifs?
for each gifset i spend at least 1 hour. it takes forever to even find that specific 0.5 seconds of a scene that i’m thinking about or people are requesting, not to mention all the coloring/timing that goes into the process. gifs are also work and credit is due.
my gifs get thousands of impressions on twitter yet no one knows where they came from. so far only one person gave credit to me and i see my gifs on that platform daily. (not to mention my gifs and their size are specifically made for tumblr which is why the quality isn’t as good when you download and post them on another platform). my twitter is @wildbyerslillet, it’s also linked here. and even if you don’t know where a specific gif came from, just put a "credit to owner“.
i don’t know if this applies to the people who posted my stranger things gifs but i know that lots of people don’t want to put in any work in what they do, they see something they like and just post it. and that download + post took them a minute, tops, when it takes minutes and hours to organize, make and upload for the creator.
think about this if you feel like posting someone else’s gifs the next time.
