Can we please, please, stop calling everything we don't like 'slop'?!

No, I'm not talking about AI, that's actual slop.

But calling m/f ships you don't like 'hetslop' - not it. Same as referring to specific ships in fandom as '-slop' - not cool. Someone worked hard on that art, that fic, that thing, and you're turning your nose up and comparing it to AI because you don't like it? Miss me with that shit.

Even worse when you refer to your own work as slop. C'mon, don't do that. You worked hard. I get it, sometimes we want to be all cute and coy about our stuff but it is not slop. Don't call it that.

Can we just stop using slop for everything?!?

I wish I could say it's unrealistic how dante and vergil bicker like children being 40+ year olds, but I'm nearly 30, my brother is 35, and today I wanted to wake him up at 5am and strangle him for drinking my soda I left in the fridge

like okay it’s posited as the story of a boy hunting down his family’s killers and yet every single arc has been about stuff that isn’t that. it’s not even on the back burner it’s just straight up not what they do in the show. instead each arc puts said boy into a new situation designed to show the effects of his neuroses for reasons we won’t fully understand until the halfway point of the series. in the meantime enjoy a curry competition and a cricket tournament. there’s also a big scary threat looming over the boy but he’s not the villain he’s actually technically the protagonist and he’s chill for now. none of this has been even tangentially related to seeking his family’s killers. just when you start to really wonder where all this is going BAM a reveal that recontextualizes absolutely everything we thought we knew about the boy. not about the family murders though. btw it turns out the Plot actually kinda started with the zombie titanic because it first laid the narrative groundwork for all This. what is This you ask? well we’ve reached a point where there’s more post-reveal story than pre-reveal story and we still have no idea. coming up on 20 years, a majority of which has been post-world’s-biggest-twist, we have no motive for who we must assume to be the villain of the current decade-long arc, not to be confused with whoever killed the kid’s parents, which is still entirely unexplored. it’s an action show it’s gloomy horror they invented jpop in late victorian britain

re: Doom’s “ol sense”… did he like have a trick that he wasn’t telling other people about? or did something happen to him in the shadow lands that actually gave him extra senses? or was boi really out there killing people based off Vibes, and it was just luck that he never messed up ?

My theory is that it’s based on movement.

Like, we know Ols dont eat, which to me indicates that they probably are missing a couple of other internal organs. They’re also always cold.

They look human when they want to, but there has to be some kind of subtle difference in how they react. Probably not something as obvious as weight (an Ol pretending to be a human probably cannot be picked up like a feather), but weight distribution is more likely to be just slightly wrong. The way they step, the way they breathe, the way they pick up a rock on the ground, their tongues might be passable but the vocal cords might be weird - a hundred little tiny details that makes it clear that the humanity doesn’t go any deeper than the skin. Doom might not even really register the details he’s picking up on, but they are physical things he is subconsciously identifying.

Which I imagine is the real reason Grade 3s can fool him. I think a Grade 3 probably does form internal organs, does have a skeletal structure, does have lungs and a heart and a stomach. They are actually indistinguishable from humans on a physical level. I’m inclined to think Dain wasn’t just capable of eating, but he actually needed to. Same with sleeping, needing to be warm, everything else. As long as a Grade 3 acted human, they are physically human.

(I also really like this idea that being too accurate is why Prandine fell to his death - that Grade 3 Ols are perfect throughout, but that means they can’t transform as quickly because they have to think about organs. And because they have organs, they have the weak points needed.)
