The return of Yondad! Teaching Peter to shoot was probably a really fun day for both of them. But geez, Yondu–how can you mention dinner to a kid you’ve threatened to eat and then be surprised when the subject makes him nervous? (Yondad is, as we all know, kind of bad at dad jokes…)

Mists of the Serengeti by Leylah Attar

Hold on to your feelings because this is going to steal them away!

Okay, I wasn't sure in the prologue. I actually admit, I put it down for a second and thought I wouldn't like it. I know! Smack me now! But then I picked it back up and I am damn glad I did!

It starts off with the bond between Jack and his daughter Lily. Then tragedy strikes and you can't help but feel everything. Jack has his POV at the beginning and the end, but Rodel is all the POV in between.

Then we go to Rodel. She lost her sister in the mall attack, the same one Jack lost his daughter. You start to see the Web start to entwine and form. Then you can't help to love it when their two worlds collide.

Rodel wants to finish the mission her sister started. Saving kids from the villages. Little does she know it's going to take her on an adventure, one that she can't handle by herself. And that's when Jack comes in.

He's wonderful. He's kind. Hes loving. He's all she needs. But that's not how he is when she first meets him. He's wounded. He's a jerk. He's closed off. He doesn't want to know the woman that brings feelings back into his life. But he does. She does.

With the help of Bahanti, a close friend of Jacks, and Goma, his grandmother, they all go through the journey together.

I LOVE GOMA. No words. She is fantastic! Super Grandma!

And Jack and Rodel. You can't help but see them get closer and closer.

When it erupts, it's everything you wanted!

The ending is fulfilling and makes you cry and laugh.

But the epilogue... OH... you can't help but feel it and sigh, and that last line... love it.

Definite 2017 Fave!

Roommates with Benefits by Nicole Williams

Hayden and Soren. They have benefited me in reading their story!

Another hit for Nicole Williams! Told in Hayden’s POV.

Hayden is from a small town in Nebraska. She moves to New York and shares a run down apartment with her new roommate, Soren.

I love these two right off the bat! Soren is funny, but romantic at the same time. Smart mouthed, but protective and sweet. The right amount of alpha male and hopeless romantic.

Hayden is a little naive, but strong at the same time. She’s working her way to be a model. Soren is working his way to be a pro in baseball while trying to finish up college.

They get through it together. You see both their quirks, their annoyances, and then you see how they work through it and bond more than roommates Best friends, with a hint of something more.

I also loved his brothers, they were hilarious!

Ellis is a sneaky bastard, and maybe I wanted a little more action from him, but that’s okay.

You also see the troubles a little at the end where their success is slowly drifting them apart.

But the ending is an HEA!

Damnable Grace (Hades Hangmen #5) by Tillie Cole

Grace of fire and heat with Phebe and AK!

This starts off with AK and the hangman going to infiltrate Meister and rescue Phebe. That Meister. I. Hate. Him. So. Much.

Phebe was the lead sacred sister, training the others at new Zion before it was taken down. She was the ultimate seductress and that’s why Meister wanted her. To own her. And that’s why he captured her.

The things he does to her and other women are unbearable and you just can’t wait until he gets his.

Enter the hangmen and AK.

They rescue her and so the healing commences. Building a bond of similar pain and pasts between Phebe and AK. Both haunted and needed each other to face their demons and get through it.

With AK’s past, not only was he a sniper, but he had a heart wrenching story with his brother and family that explains how and why he is how he is. Also, why him, Flame, and Vike are so close. We also get a glimpse on how all of them came to be.

You have other hangmen in here too Ky and Styx, even Lilah, and their daughter Grace.

I especially liked Ash, Flames brother. Him, AK, and Ash had a nice, silent bond that you can see.

Don’t forget action! When Phebe is fighting through her addictions, her past comes tumbling down and she has to do what she has to do, causing a domino effect that the hangmen have to jump into action again.

And we all know what happens when the hangmen throwdown!

Oh yes! Blood. Gore. Feels. My lungs were paused during those scenes.

Also, I love the ending and the bonus scene!! Gaaah! I hope we see more of that… wink, wink!!

Tortured by Nicole Williams

Gaaah! She’s tortured me with all the feels in this one!

Brecken and Camryn.

Where do I start with these two? This is read in her POV.

It starts off heart wrenching already. Brecken is leaving for the Marines and they were saying good bye after some good loving in the car. Sweet words, promises, and a priceless cheap ring he won for her when they were kids.

They’ve loved each other since forever and you feel that when they’re together.

He leaves and in the news, she finds out he’s captured, a POW with three of his other team members.

When she was watching this, it was so simple, but so powerful at the same time. Little words, but with so much emotion on the pages.

Fast forward six years and you find out a lot. Brecken wasn’t executed. He was found and is coming home.

Camryn is married with a son. She is now with Crew, their other childhood best friend where they all grew up together... I know, enter shock here *WHAAT*?!

BUT... not all is what it seems.

When Brecken comes out for his homecoming and they lay eyes on each other… GAAAH! The feels!!! The emotions. The interference with Crew. I loved it all. I did not want to put it down.

When the truth comes to light, it shows that not only Brecken has been tortured for six years, but so has Camryn.

There is slight cheating in here, but you know what, I don’t care because Crew is an ass… I’ll leave it at that. I picked up pretty quick on what her life was like so I guess it’s not a secret.

Oh the words Brecken says.

“I’m staring. Sorry.” Brecken swallowed, shifting in place. He didn’t stop staring though. “You’re still the most beautiful thing around, Camryn Gardner.”

So beautiful. He’s damaged, tortured, abused, but still has eyes for one person. One girl. One woman. And I love that about him. He’s loyal to a fault and he’s not afraid to let her know.

“The only time I feel hints of my old self is when I’m...” His head turned toward the window as he closed his mouth. He wasn’t going to finish his sentence. Then his head rotated back to where I was hovering at the sink, his eyes clearing. “When I’m with you.” His words echoed off the kitchen walls. “I remember who I was, who I am, when I’m with you.”

Camryn is doing what she needs to for her son, Keenan, but there’s only so much she can do. She grows through the story, both her and Brecken. Leaning on each other, but giving each other strength at the same time.

This is a 2017 fave for me! Could not put down!

Till Death by Jennifer L. Armentrout

She’s going to be the death of me, because she’s done it again!

I love Armentrout! Ever since Obsidian series.

This is a lot darker than what she usually writes, but with my taste, I love it! Read in one POV, Sasha’s.

Cole. Sasha.

These two is a love tested through time, filled with regrets and passion.

Ten years have past since she escaped The Groom, a sociopath serial killer that kidnaps women and tries to make them their bride.

When she finally goes back to help her mom with the inn, it almost feels like she can be normal. She rekindles with her friends Miranda and Jason, and then finally re-meets Cole, the man who she regrets shutting out.

When they meet, it’s awkward, but you can feel how much unfinished business they have.

I like the other small parts like Tyrone and James, even Miranda is hilarious.

This is also like a thriller, wondering who the real killer is. I had my suspicions near the beginning and figured it out near the middle and it was very well played.

Throughout all the terrors and anguish, you still were able to feel the love Cole and Sasha had.
