In instances where “I love you” would suffice, I would replace it with “thank you.” Instantly, I would observe the discomfort and confusion in the recipient of this message. “Thank you? For what?” As if I had to receive something in order to be grateful towards them. As if sharing that moment in space and time weren’t enough to create a sense of gratitude within me. Anyway, this shift has helped me be more appreciative of my circumstances. Thus, I invite you to try it with me. Today and beyond. Layers. I’ve realized that with each layer or phase of evolution, I unlock knew depths of understanding. Thus rendering broader expansions in my ability to receive. You can only receive as much as you have come to understand— about yourself, about others. It makes me wonder of all of the times that I’ve let my experience of others be bound by the limitations of my receptivity. It’s become a lesson on how I love myself through others. // Capas.
