Haven’t drawn my Finding Nemo OC Serena ( @serenexwaters ) in a long time (as a shark or otherwise), so here’s an updated version!
Important PSA
|| // Hey, guys. So some stuff went down two days ago, but I really want to give some context and clarification. First of all, @xelision and I talked privately, and she had been previously harassed by a certain anon, and had mistaken my response to be something along the similar terms. The IT and Stranger Things rpc has also recently been hit with brutal anon hate which is why xelision has kept up her guard- no ill will wishes towards me.
Furthermore, I should have never escalated things to the context of suicide or self harm, or at least bringing her into it as a cause. I’ve just been struggling so much for so long, I had misunderstandingly felt this as the straw that broke the camel’s back. Even so, that doesn’t justify dragging xelision into it.
In retrospect, I should have been a little more aware of the anon-induced situation in the IT and DT rpc, and sent it off anon instead which might have prevented this in the first place.
This has been a misunderstanding, and it has come to my attention that xelision has been receiving death threats on this situation. I would truly hope that none of my followers would fall to that disgusting and irredeemable level as to send someone a message to kill themselves. Such anon hate is beyond repulsive and has absolutely no room in this community.
I hope everybody can understand that is was just a misunderstanding, so we can move past this.
Thanks!

Serena puffed out her chest, dipped her pectoral fins, arched her back, and flashed her jaws in a warning display.
“This is my kill,” the eighteen-footer spoke plainly in a low but placid voice highly contrasting with the aggressive appearance of her body language. And, in all honesty, the decaying seal corpse wasn’t Serena’s kill. The great white had just happened upon it. But like hell she was going to lose an easy meal to another shark!

I need more of them in my life.
the-names-hank:
He didn’t know what to make of this.
To trust or not to trust?
“You have got to be kidding me…” Hank thought. This… Just sounded insane to him! Why trust a shark in the first place? Especially if they have tried to eat you in the past and so recently?! He grumble something unknown, removing his arm from his face. “…” But hey… If he helps, then maybe, hopefully, he won’t be her next meal. He could just help her out just this once right? Reach for fishes that can’t get reached through?
But… Wouldn’t that make him a bad octopus?
Well, to tell the truth, he does eat other sea life…
So it’s not all that bad right?
And why should he care about a bunch of strangers anyways?
“… Right. Fine… I’ll help.”
“If you keep your end of the deal and don’t try making me your next meal.”
“Deal,” Serena assured, backing up slightly to allow the cephalopod some safe distance for him to exit his rocky sanctuary. “Besides, I’d really rather not know what tentacles taste like anyway,” she added brashly, not giving it any thought whether or not the comment would help or hinder the septopus’ urge to aid the great white. It was an honest statement, at least that was as much as the shark could provide.
“I’d even eat crabs if that’s all you’re having.” Certainly it wasn’t going to be anything satisfying like tuna, but it was at least something. “In case you have any friends around here you would rather me not eat.”
the-names-hank:
“Help each other?”
Hank thought to himself.
Now why would he do such a thing like that…? Well… Maybe she wouldn’t eat him? Though that would only end up having other fish get eaten. Then again he does eat other types of sea creatures himself but, uhh… He rather have coffee more then anything else. Oh, how he missed that drink of pure joy and happiness!
“…”
Anyways…
“… Why should I help you?” He asked after a moment. “A few minutes ago you were trying to eat me! I didn’t even know you and now you’re asking me to help you?” He felt… Well, odd for even talking to a shark in the first place. “I don’t even know if I can trust you. You could try eating me when my back is turn for all I know…!” He did in every way, have a right to say all of this. He sighed loudly and placed a tentacle arm upon his face, acting like as if he was pinching a bridge of a human nose that isn’t there.
“I’m going to regret this, aren’t I?”
He thought to himself.
“Sharks can sense crabs and all kinds of creatures hidden in crevices. Places I can’t get to. You can squeeze into any hole bigger than your beak,” Serena assured, lifting a brow. “You can go off hunting on your own, but you’re gonna be walking over a bunch of hidden dinner right under your tentacles that you’d miss. With a shark, you’re not gonna become some cod’s snack.” At least her argument sounded somewhat convincing, save for the previous moments when she had attempted to devour the cephalopod.
“If it makes you feel better, I’ll swim ahead of you and do the tracking if you do the tackling.”
neverxstoppedxme:
Gill’s eyes widened as he saw what was happening. The shark’s panic, her thrashing, her terrified cries…..
The next moment, his face had scrunched up, eyes closed, shaking his head in disbelief.
“…………….I can’t believe I’m doing this.”
He took a deep breath, and shot off toward the shark as fast as he could, an arrow in the deep.
He could barely believe how fast he managed to reach her, but he had no time to think about that. He had to stay back far enough to be clear of her thrashing, but close enough that she would hear him loud and clear.
“Hey, hey– hey now listen, listen to me, look, you’ve got yourself in quite a mess here but I’m gonna try to help you out. You hear me? I’m gonna try to help.”
In her panic, Serena almost missed the fish entirely. It wasn’t until the stranger raised his voice that the great white’s panicked, wide green eyes shot down to the fish. Her breaths were shallow as she stared at the Moorish Idol, barely pausing in her moments of thrashing to hear his words. A shallow, instinctual part of her mind advised her to snap up the fish; at least she’d die with a semi-full belly. But her anxiety pushed away any thought of hunger, merely kick-starting into her survival against the cursed two-leggeds and their dastardly contraption closing in on her.
She almost fought against the words of the fish, her pride already stricken to a low level. Now she was gaining help from a fish? What had her world come to? Even so, Serena could deny the extremity of the ordeal and she gave a steady, shaky nod to the fish. “What do I do?”

❝ I’m — I’m not scared of you !! My dad — h-he fought off three sharks !! And when he finds you, you’ll be SORRY !! I’m not afraid … ❞
A BLATANT LIE, but Nemo would never admit it. He must be brave, just like his father was when crossing the ocean.
“Your dad isn’t here now, is he?” the female shark growled, mentally cursing at herself. She wasn’t here to make conversations with prey. She was here to eat. To settle the agony writhing in her stomach. It was either starvation, or guilt that was causing her gut to twist. Guilt with the sound of the fish’s voice. Sky ocean above, this was just a kid.
“Just… close your eyes and stay still. And this will only hurt for a second,” Serena said, her voice growing oddly soft as she inched closer, puling back her lips to bear the myriad of serrated pearly whites.

After his shouting, he thought Serena would have left by then. He thought maybe he was finally alone and that he could be himself again. The side of himself that he wanted no one to see. Deep down, Hank has always been scared. And he wanted to always be alone so that no one could hurt him again.
That is the reason why he escaped.
To be alone forever.
But when Serena begin speaking to him again, he realize that she did not leave at all. His hopes of wanting to be alone right now died quickly as soon as it has come. Listening to the first sentence manage to bring him back to his senses a little bit but as she continued on… Hank flinched again. He couldn’t say anything to that. He should have paid more attention to be honest, if he actually looked at Serena when he still could have, he would have noticed the scar on her. He would have realize that he wasn’t the only one who went through something terrible and manage to survive.
He would have come to realize this and felt terrible for his shouting.
But he did not.
“…”
Instead he slowly came out of hiding, to look up at Serena but still kept himself from within the rock just in case.
As soon as she spied the cephalopod slinking out towards the entrance of the hiding spot, it took every fiber of willpower to prevent the great white from ramming her nose straight into the hole to go after the prey. Even more so when her belly rumbled painfully once ago, as loud and irritating enough for anyone in a two meter radius to hear loud and clear. Serena’s eyes flicked about the cephalopod’s expression, searching for any reason to attack; any hint of mockery or anything such insulting to her sudden venting of the passed horrors in her life.
Seeing none across the fire red face of the creature, the great white let out a sigh, drifting closer but not at any speed to indicate an attack.
“Maybe... we can help each other,” she suggested. Having not been alone since she was a newborn, it felt vulnerable and naked not having a hunting partner, or even company. “You provide a hunting place, I’ll provide safe transport. Not a lot of things beyond humans would mess with a great white.”

(Red-headed-aussie) "Serena! Long time no see, mate! 'ow've ye been?"
“Oh! Hello,” the great white said. “I didn’t think you would be out this far. Do your parents know you’re this far from shore?” Serena asked worriedly.
red-headed-aussie:
Karen beamed at the notion of being on someone’s ‘team’. All her life, she’s wanted to be known as an advocate for animals, and now she’s being acknowledged by one of those very animals. “Not at all, mate! I wouldn’t dream of doin’ that.” the teen remarked with a confident tone.
She looked back to the boat and then answered, “Oh, we’re just checkin’ out a small reef; it’s really close to shore, so it’s suitable fer studyin’ fish ‘n coral ‘n the like.”
“Ah, that’s good,” the great white said, half of her words breathy from letting out a harbored sigh of relief. Despite Karen’s good intentions and overall good nature, the great white couldn’t shake the instinctual fear of humans which she had either been born with or formed due to the ordeal having occurred a few weeks back. Serena tried with all her might to trust Karen, and it was a miracle the great white hadn’t simply fled already at the sight of the boat. But... it still took work, and a good amount of effort not to do so.
“How do you...study the fish and coral? Do you just...” she paused looking for the right choice of words, failing, and shaking her head. “... look at them?”
the-names-hank:
“How?”
He heard her ask, but it only made the septopus go even further back into his memories of what he went through. The touch pool for kids, the human children there, Hank being put into the pool, then… Then… His body curl up even more as he try to move backwards into his spot of safety, but there was no more room he could get through.
He could remember the children laughing and poking and touching the other fishes there. He remembered trying to hide from them. He also remembered being caught by one of them and then being forced out by them from his hiding spot. It only continued to get worst when seven more try grabbing his other arms and he felt like a piece of rope and-!
“NO!”
He finally shouted, scared beyond anything now. “I DON’T WANT TO GO BACK THERE! STOP ASKING QUESTIONS, STOP REMINDING ME OF WHAT HAPPEN!” His body shook. “Go away! LEAVE ME ALONE! LEAVE!” He continued to stout for a few more seconds, wanting to be alone, wanting to just stop thinking about his past. He just didn’t want to be reminded again.
Her initial reaction was anger; anger at the cephalopod shouting orders, barking them at her like she wouldn’t know anything about the hurt that came from dealing with humans. That is, until the pores along her lateral pores tinkled, as the vibrations of the septopus’ three hearts reached her electroreceptors. His heartbeats sprinted in speed, as fast as a school of sardines retreating from the gaping mouth of a cetacean.
He was scared. While fury had taken his voice, it had only been buttressed by the terror coiling inside him like nets, strangling the gut and heart and causing the shortness of breath.
Or maybe that was just Serena. Just how she had felt when her sisters were separated from her. Killed, or taken, she didn’t know. And that lack of knowing had been killing her slowly each day they were separated from her.
Her snarl slid away from her lips, and an almost unreadable expression- something just short of sullenness- spread across her face. “You’re not going back. And neither am I. But at least what they took from you was something that couldn’t suffer in your absence. That couldn’t die.”
“Did I frighten you? Didn’t mean to. Sorry.” -(serenexwaters)
❝ O-Oh —N-No, no, it’s okay …You just — startled me.❞
Out of her VERY SKIN.
Serena had never seen a whale shark up close; only from afar, while she had been migrating with her sisters. In truth, they were much larger than she had anticipated, and the great white had to back away to look at the other in both eyes.
“Guess I’m just used to moving with a group,” the female great white chuckled halfheartedly, the words bittersweet on her tongue. “Where is your school, by the way? I though whales sharks traveled in shivers.
the-names-hank:
Someone…?
More like something.
Again, Hank didn’t speak. His mind started to wonder off to what has happened to him. It felt like it was only yesterday but in truth, it was… What? A year? Maybe more? Or was it a few months? He didn’t count how many days nor look at any of those calendar’s the humans would have about the aquarium. He didn’t think about how long, he just didn’t want to go back there again.
Caught up in this moment of sadness and terror of his past, he answered without a second thought.
“They took my arm…”
His arms, all seven of them, begin to curl around his body as a way to make himself feel protected as he tried to not think about what has happened to him. It wasn’t easy, for him to try and forget. Why he wanted to be alone in the first place, and why he escaped that horrible hellish nightmare.
“Your arm?” the great white asked, lifting a brow solemnly. Racking her memory, Serena wasn’t sure whether or not she had been paying attention to the number of tentacles on the cephalopod during her observations, though clearly there had been something about the creature that seemed... different. Perhaps a missing tentacle was it. And she had no doubt in her mind that a human would do such a thing. Not even for a split second. Humans steal shark fins without a moment’s thought, hacking them off and throwing the shark overboard to drown in the waters that once kept its gills flaring with breath and life. To take away a shark’s fins is to take away more than their freedom. It was a death sentence. And she doubted little that humans would hesitate any less with an octopus.
It didn’t matter why humans did what they did. They did it without reason, as far as Serena could tell.
“How?” she asked.
