“never kill yourself” is such a funny phrase to me that i think it’s accidently started working. its like an affrimation. say ‘never kill yourself’ enough times as a joke and maybe you won’t try to kill yourself over minor inconviences anymore

What do your tattoos mean?

a couple of them I can share but some of them I won’t, the fish on my inner right forearm, the grim reaper on my left inner forearm I will not discuss because they are sentimental and aren’t something I talk about much.

the angels on my right upper forearm I got for mikey and sugar years ago. one angel for each sibling.

773 is self explanatory- Chicago area code. one of my first tattoos when I turned 18, my mom hated it. said I was an idiot for getting the area code like I don’t know where the fuck I’m at.

SOU on my left hand stands for Sense Of Urgency. I put it on my non dominant so I can see it when I cook.

live fast with the snail, it’s a reminder and also just a silly tattoo my tattoo artist drew up and was like this would fit your sleeve and I just let him do it.

the flower on my left hand I got at a 25 dollar friday the 13th tattoo event, it was cheap and I wanted to get something done. me and fak both went together because fak is scared to get tattoos alone. (he has so many, don’t ask).

the pyrex with the earth in it is symbolism of cookings connecting factors. chefs goal is to nurture, that’s our service to the world.

the hand with the knife upside down on my right hand is self deprecating at best. you can look up what that one means.

I think a lot about Syds tattoos and the fact that they are both a mirror and the opposite of Carmys. Carmy is tattooed in highly visible places (knuckles, forearms, ect), while Syds are all hidden. Carmy is tattooed to project who he wants to be, while Syd is tattooed to reflect who she is now.
