I completely forgot about the graphics of MG1! I loved Solid Snake so much and what was I even in love with; the idea of a face and a husky voice? The way he shouted out for Meryl? Don’t get me started on when they introduced Revolver Ocelot

None of these characters had eyeballs! Just the shadow where eyes should be.

And it’s great. I love it so much. I can’t even take it seriously I’m just laughing about no one having eyes. I forgot

The Insidious soundtrack/theme is one of the creepiest to me personally. I hate violins in horror (and by hate I mean I love). Every time I hear it i want to crawl inside myself because it makes me so uncomfortable

While I didn’t like the good/bad endings in Metro Last Light the way they did the good/bad endings in Exodus worked so much better.

It’s not only about doing good/bad things. It’s mixing in the consequences of being more violent/heavy handed in your approach to the different communities.

It works so well in the bad ending, showing you that being violent without provocation actually caused Artyoms death because he lost dear friends that could have helped him survive in the end.

I love consequences in games. I love when they actually mean something in-game and have an effect. It gives me a better feeling post-credits when I try hard to avoid the conflict rather than a “kill all” mentality. If there’s one thing I would say I don’t like in games it’s constant stealth missions. I hate hiding and I hate getting caught. But I can deal with it if I know something good will come from it in the end.

I honestly don’t know if I can enjoy a Metro without Artyom as a main character. Yes, he’s a very basic character. He has no in-game voice lines, he’s the typical silent protagonist. Sometimes his voice-overs in the chapter loading screens can come off as extremely unemotional.

But I’ve fallen so in love with him through the other characters interacting with him. The way they love him, get happy to see him, want to go out on missions with him. That’s how you know a game franchise is a good one. Even if the character is a bit one dimensional, the interactions around that character and the world building have you falling in love with them anyway.

Playing as Hunter will be fun I’m sure, but I’ll always be missing Artyom.
