Sinking into the deep blue
soap and ghost’s first meeting in ‘Emotional support seal’ by sergeant on Ao3
That is so beautiful 🥰 Thank you!!! 😊 I really love Soap's spotted fur and Ghost's fins.. and both their hair. The way Soap's mohawk goes down his neck is pretty much how I imagined it 🤗
Ghost was so surprised by his lack of survival instincts he couldn't do anything else than stare back. He flopped his tail to push himself off the ground and towered over the little seal in his full height.
Perhaps that will scare him, seeing the orca, a natural predator of seals and more than twice his size, in his full size instead of lying half buried under the sand.
The seal chirped happily and swam up to be face to face with Ghost.
"Hi." He squeaked excitedly. "Sorry I touched you, I thought you were dead."
(Chapter 1, Emotional Support Seal)
And the story is complete :-)

An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
I've been posting a little something :-)
Three chapters already out and the story is entirely pre-written, so is will be posted fully in like two weeks I'd say.
Summary:
Biologist Kyle Garrick is in charge of the team taking care of Toun Foindle, the guarded nature reserve no. 141 in Scotland. It was set up to protect a nesting forest of Scottish crossbill and a very rare grey seal mer colony. All is going well, except the never-ending influx of nosy tourists overstepping boundaries and poachers trying to steal the mers for private collectors, until his husband, journalist and mer rights activist Gary Garrick, gets a target on their back by messing with a wealthy private collector. Or: Orca mer Ghost has had a horrible life filled with abuse from humans and the deaths of his entire pod. After getting captured and being neglected by a private collector for a year he is suddenly dumped in a very specific Scottish Loch in Toun Foindle.

Jumping spider hybrid!Soap finally found tarantula hybrid!Ghost's fear!
You would say they are both arachnids, right? Climbing walls, chilling on the ceiling..
....
The window behind them was shattered by bullets.
"Lt, we have to go!" Soap yelled and pointed out. They were backed into the huge office and were horribly outnumbered.
Ghost glanced back. There was a drone outside with enough ammo to level the entire building. If they could get out, the drone could annihilate everyone on the floor.
The doors were blocked, shot were being fired, they had one last grenade to use as a distraction as they climbed out..
Eating habits of tarantula hybrid!Ghost and jumping spider hybrid!Soap stressing about it
Soap is a curious creature. He notices things. It was already his first day in the TF 141 that he noticed his lieutenant doesn't eat in the mess with other soldiers.
At first he dismissed it. Ghost was very private and probably didn't need all the soldiers to stare at his face while he ate.
But later, when he started taking his mask off in front of the team, he still didn't eat with them. Sometimes he sat with them as they ate, but when Soap offered to split his food, the lieutenant always declined.
It stressed Soap more than enemy fire. His own meals were always huge to get him his energy so he could be his hyper-active self, jumping around, never staying silent, just buzzing with energy.
Jumping spider hybrid!Soap trying to scare Tarantula hybrid!Ghost
Soap always admires how Ghost never gets jumped-scared because he can feel everything.
They could be sitting in the rec room and suddenly Ghost chuckles. "Price dropped a stack of files and is cursing." He offers as an explanation. Price was in his office on the other end of the hall.
They could be training on an obstacle course and Ghost would just mention: "Nik is coming to say hi." And lo and behold, the pilot shows up in the next two minutes.
No one can scare Ghost, the soldier know that. He knows about everything.. (so the soldiers are actually quite happy with the fact he goes to sleep on the other side of the barracks and can't feel whatever they do in the shower later at night..)
And Soap obviously needs to be the one who will manage to sneak up to him, right? Who else would?
Sleeping habits of Tarantula hybrid!Ghost and jumping spider!Soap
Ghost doesn't sleep. His body can enter a 'sleep mode' when his body functions are lowered to a minimum to rest, but he moment there is a noise or a movement close by, he is perfectly awake and ready to react. That is why he is so popular with all the other soldiers when they are out there - everyone can sleep through the entire night while he keeps watch. It is also why he usually goes to rest to the most distant parts of the base because he needs to rest and feeling the footsteps of soldiers few floors away gets in way of that.
Soap can doze off properly, and likes to do so near his huge and silent lieutenant. He always watches him curiously and follows him, feeling safe in his proximity. After he found out Ghost's most favourite place to hide at night, he made a nice and comfortable web hammock there for both of them.
Ghost has an interesting sense of humor

You don’t know what you did to make your pack hate you.
But they do hate you, of that, you’re certain. It’s been weeks of avoidance, of glaring when they see you, of “accidentally” hitting you too hard during spars. Ghost and Gaz seem to hate you the most, but you can’t be sure, because you’ve barely even seen Soap in weeks, and whenever you do, he refuses to make eye contact with you, his tail tucked between his legs. Price is slightly less antagonistic, but there is no more warmth in his interactions with you, all of them coldly professional.
It’s tearing you up inside.
You’re considering putting in for a transfer when the news comes—you’re being loaned out to the Americans for a mission that will take several weeks, maybe months. No one else from the 141 will be coming with you.
You hold off on your transfer request, as a favor to Laswell, who apparently personally recommended you. You know it likely won’t be accepted until after the mission is finished, anyway.
You’re up and on the tarmac at 05:00. None of your pack comes to say goodbye.
As the helo lifts off, you feel the bonds you’d formed with each and every one of them—once so strong and a great source of comfort—break, unable to hold up under the strain of rejection any longer. It’s agony, but it’s freedom, too, in a way.
Johnny wakes up with a pained gasp, clawing at his chest as he shoots up in bed. Beside him, Simon sits up sharply as well, reaching for the gun under his pillow before realizing the room is empty.
“Just a nightmare,” he soothes his sergeant, heart breaking at the horrible whines coming from him. He pulls Johnny close, kissing the crown of his head. “S’olright, Soap. Go back ta sleep.”
And Soap does, the ache in his chest slowly fading, but never quite disappearing entirely. He wonders what he was dreaming of, to have such an intense reaction…
SAS base, TF 141.
You are the new supply NCO and the boys have to go to you for new equipment (after they break something in the field)
Soap: You know about his loud presence before he even opens the door. He waltzes in with barely restrained energy and you wonder if he will be able to maintain the conversation without climbing the walls.
"Hey, how are you? Alex, was it?" He almost yells excitedly.
"Not even close." You raise your eyebrow at him, challenging.
"Well, you have a lunch break? I'd love to get to know you and your name." He tries with a charming smile.
"My name is on the uniform." You say flatly.
So, I have this CoD fanfictio idea that I have half outlined on paper. It's a body swap AU, where 22 Ghost exchanges with 09 Ghost, and it can be described as: 09 Ghost, after being betrayed by Sheperd wakes up in 22 body sleeping with Soap, he recognises that he is Soap, but doesnt understand why he looks so young, then in the bathroom he has a panic attack when he sees that he isn't himself, but a 6'2" monster with blond hair and dark eyes (the opposite of what he was). Instead 22 Ghost is suddenly thrown in the battlefield basically one minute before Sheperd's betrayal, when Sheperd is about to shoot Roach he is faster and shoots him. 22 Ghost doesn't know that the man he killed was Sheperd (he looks nothing like his Sheperd) and doesn't recognise the soldier he saved, but something in his guts tells him he knew him at some point.
Yes, it is hurt-comfort, yes with time their memories will return, yes they will realoze that they might be lost in another reality, no I don't know how it could be resolved since I need time and it might be that when both the Captain and the Sargent die they switch back :) (no, I want to fix it, so they don't die)
These two inspired me
Edit: I'm 2k into writing the first chapter of this and I'm absolutely speedrunning ruining my sleeping schedule by writing this at night (the ideas come better and the creativity is boosted)
Okay, I know this will sound probably bad.. but as far as fanfictions are concerned, my only wish is to once write something that will make at least one of my readers cry.
Sorry, I know.. but honestly, the amount of emotions some fanfictions make me feel is absolutely incomprehensible and cannot be compared to any other media.
I would just like to once be able to portray the actions and emotions so well it will make people feel them as much as some fanfictions make me feel.
There are quite a few Soulmates AU fanfics, where it's Ghost who is trying to to hide it, claiming Soap doesn't deserve someone so broken like him, or something like that... so it's usually Soap who suffers the rejection in some form.
What if it was the other way? What 'valid' reason would Soap have, claiming Ghost doesn't deserve to be stuck with him?
(I came up with one reason yesterday before falling asleep and of course I forgot...)
With the way Ghost is so unapproachable, nobody would probably notice his suffering for quite some time. Lol, angst, yes please.
Also he would be pretty much stalking Soap, but as that's a normal behaviour for him, nobody questions that.
