Wulong Serials
Gonna add some stuff on both of them here since it’s pretty limited what you can put down in Vella for the description.
On the Mouth of a Great River - Essentially follows Matreyu, a monk of Hayato who has, mostly according to his own opinion, been living a life of sin, which culminated in an unexpected trip to the Outworld and a cursed hand. Ostensibly, he wants to find out more about the curse and how to remove it, but he ends up making the acquaintance of a young tomboy who wants to be come a ninja. Meanwhile, his original rescuer, the druid priestess Aya is also pursuing him with the intent to help him remove his curse. This is mainly an adventure story with a lot of traveling and built in arcs, i.e. one problem presents itself and takes several episodes to solve. The main problem is obviously the curse, but it only very slowly takes over the narrative.
Lost Heaven - Legend of Azayaka Kaiten Part One - In my reckoning of Wulong, Azayaka Kaiten is a famous summoner who broke the rules and did a lot of infamous things. This is the first part in his story of how he got there. It takes place many years before the Matreyu story. Lost Heaven refers to the name of the underworld hideout that Kaiten ends up in, but there are other meanings as well that are probably obvious when you read it lol. There are other pov characters besides Kaiten, but the story mostly follows his journey to learn a magical discipline called Summoning. He’s sixteen when the story starts, so it’s also very much a coming of age story as well. The second part is called Promised Land, and chronicles his real journey to learn summoning, so the first part is a prelude, to set up his character. It follows the cycle of birth, life, death, and rebirth.
I should also add that there is a decent amount of fairly frank sexual content in the entire Azayaka Kaiten series, so that’s either a feature or a bug, depending on your preferences lol.
