I have a somewhat sad scenario or headcanon where Raven is worried about her little son, since he is shy, doesn’t cry, doesn’t play with toys, doesn’t talk much, and obeys his parents immediately without hesitation—in essence, she’s concerned that he is too much like her in personality.
"Gar I am worried about Jonathan"
Beast Boy joined his wife at the table bringing her a cup of tea. "We're parents Rae worry is in the job description. But is there something specific?"
"Gar No jokes right now please."
"Ok, talk to me. what are you worried about?"
"Jonathan, so quiet. he only speaks when he's spoken to always has his head in a book or drawing. he doesn't have a lot of friends. he's polite. he does what he's told he is
"A lot like you?"
"Yes." She said "and that concerns me."
Beast Boy sat quietly for a moment trying to figure out the right words.
"Well?"
"Raven, I know that he might look a lot like me but he took after you. I might be a little biased but you're my favorite person in the whole world. I really don't see anything wrong with more of that. I love Jonathan, there is sometimes I am worried that we're so different, I mean He's already read a good chunk of your own library. He's smart and observant and when he does talk he is as clever as his mother."
"I just don't want him to be alone like I was for so long. He just seems so closed off."
"He's not alone. Rae, We love him. we support him. We will do the best we can to understand him. But also he is nine, a lot of who he is going to be. he's still figuring out himself. For all we know is the calm before the storm, puberty hits and we have teenage rebellion maybe some of my genes asserting themselves."
"I said no jokes"
"It's not a joke" he said leaning back in his chair." I didn't feel comfortable in my skin until my early twenties. I like to think a lot of my more reckless moments were hormones and growing pains." He continues "I don't think there's anything wrong Rae, Just that growing up's hard and he's trying to figure it out in his own way. "
"You really think so?"
"I do. Raven I think we have a great kid." He takes her hand. "We are going to support him as best we can, but maybe a little professional advice might not hurt?"
"You think he needs a therapist?" Raven looked at him with the slightest drip of concern in her voice.
"I'm not sure what you call it but maybe something we could all do together so Jonathan doesn't think he's being singled out. someone that could look at us, give us some ideas of what else Jonathan might need and how we can provide it? It would be worth it even to put your mind at ease" He looked at her.
"You're willing to drag us all into therapy sessions just because I said I was worried?"
"Rae You're forgetting you're talking to the man that went to 12 different stores while you were pregnant with Jonathan because you had a craving for marshmallow peeps in October. My love, there's very little I wouldn't do for you."
