Is there a specific format training logs should be in? Like, I write up things I worked on with my dog on a given day, but it's like "went on a two-hour hike, did some distraction training with squirrels and other hikers while we were out" not "1:00-1:30 - quiet riding in car including loading/unloading; 1:30-1:45 heeling past other hikers - dog broke heel to stare at other dog for 13 seconds but otherwise acceptable; 1:45-2:15 recall&release on a long line" etc. How detailed should a log be?

No, there is no required format that you need to do for training logs. Below the cut I’ve added some pictures for a training log that you can use as an example.

service dog handlers' skype chat! -make friends, share tips, vent about issues, and (of course) get a chance to gush about how great your service dog is! -also open to prospective handlers, trainers, and owner trainers in the process of training! (i mean hey, i had a washed out service dog, i'm back to being a prospective handler!) RULES: -your dog must be task trained, or will be task trained, sorry but this isn't a space for ESAs! (psychiatric service dogs are fine) -must be okay with and accepting of people with disabilities of all sorts, LGBT people, people of color, and all other marginalized groups -be accepting of different training methods and gear as long as they're used correctly. this may include but is not limited to prong collars, haltis, etc. if you have concerns about abuse or mistreatment, talk to an admin! -be nice! if you have an issue try to resolve it reasonably. -rules may be updated as needed! to join, you can message me your skype username here on tumblr! if you aren't a handler feel free to reblog this! so i haven’t been on this tumblr in ages, and there’s a reason for that. charlie didn’t make it through training because of not having the right temperament that some dogs are born with and others aren’t, no matter how hard i worked with him. he wasn’t well socialized enough as a puppy, and also developed protective tendencies. i also had to rehome him because of the financial state i was in at the time. i’m looking into training a service dog again, but i realized i forgot to let this tumblr know what happened with charlie.

I use neopaws :) they have a lot of models. I use the summer reinforced energy ones. It's mesh on top and stay on amazingly and the soles r fantastically durable! Hope I could help

oh no sorry! i use them as an example a lot because i looked into them the most before i went with a private trainer and trained charlie with their help myself. but i've never gone through their program. i'd suggest checking out their website and calling them with any questions! there's also a service dog trainers/programs review group on facebook but i can't remember the exact wording for the name of the group..
