You and Chan had been friends for ages. 5 years and 23 days to be exact. You had been counting since the day you met and had promised yourself to never fall for him. Unfortunately, over the years you broke that promise and your feelings for him only ever grew. You highly doubted that he would ever feel the same as he was surrounded by beautiful women all the time. You knew that was just part of being an idol, but it didn’t exactly help the way you felt about yourself.
You had planned to meet at a new coffee shop just around the corner. Normally, you always looked forward to seeing him, you enjoyed catching up with him as you both have fairly busy schedules. To your surprise, this time around you felt unusually nervous. For the past half an hour you have been practicing making up a last minute excuse on why you can’t go, even though deep inside you know you want to see him, it’s Chan after all. Out of pure guilt, you give up and arrive anyways.
“Y/n! It’s been so long, hey?”
His face lights up at your presence and his dimples appear across his endearing face.
God, he’s so cute.
“Ah yeah! It’s been a couple weeks, right? I’ve missed you a lot, I enjoy our catchups.”
Your thoughts are burning with affection that you want to let out, but rather than blurting it out you wash it down with the bitter taste of coffee just to keep yourself quiet.
“How’s work been lately? Tasks upon tasks hm?”
Well, it seems like that plan didn’t last long.
“Yeah pretty much, the new employees seem to need help with everything, I’m practically doing their work on top of mine.”
Chan lightly laughs at your sarcasm and his dimples appear again. Unfortunately, it makes you blush.
“Your hair is so pretty today, y/nnie!”
I’m so fucked.
“Chan I can’t do it anymore”
“Y/n? Is there something wrong? You know you can talk to me right? I’m always here for you, no matter what and I hope you know that.”
His kind words make you want to cry, to the point your eyes begin to fill with tears at the rejection you know is coming.
“Chan I love you. I can’t keep it in me anymore. You’re so gentle with me and you make me feel like I have worth, like I deserve the world, even though I know I don’t. You are the only thing I can think about and I can’t stand when we have to part. I want to be able to be with you all the time, not just a few hours every other week. I want you, all of you, and every version of you that there is.”
Silence settled between the two of you. You already know it’s over. There’s no way he would possibly want you, it’s so obvious how attached you are. The tears that had grown in your eyes have already started falling whilst you stare down, anywhere but his eyes, and you’re drowning in doubt. That is until you are met with 4 words you never thought you could hear.
“I love you too.”
Your head immediately raises, yet before you can speak, or even process what he has just said, he’s already leaning across the table of forgotten caffeine to reach for your damp cheeks. His silky fingers wipe away your tears, before cupping your face and softly kissing your lips. The feeling of his lips finally being on yours sends butterflies to your stomach, the moment is like a dream you never want to wake up from. It’s slow and ethereal, like he’s letting out something he’s been holding in for a while.
He silently parts from your lips before smiling at you like he’s on top of the world. In fact, knowing him, he probably is.
“Wanna head to my place rather, baby?”
You quietly nod whilst he brushes strands of hair away from your face, then lovingly takes your hand before leaving.

You woke up to the soft sunlight of the city reflecting over your blankets as you stumbled awake. You lazily blinked your heavy eyelids open. Subconsciously, you turn to your side to reach for your boyfriend, Minho, yet instead you are greeted with nothing but the covers of where he laid a few hours before.
“Min?”
Too tired to get up and look for him, you rather reach for your phone to call him. However, on your lockscreen you are met with a text.
“Y/nnie, I had to leave early for practice this morning. I left you a coffee on the counter. Also, you stole all the blanket in your sleep, dummy. Care to share next time?”
You subtly laughed at his sarcasm.
“Anyways, have a great day. I can’t wait to see you later. Love you.”
You send warm response back.
“Love you too Min, see you in a bit. Have fun with practice!”
You had originally not looked forward to this day, but with caffeine and Minho in your life, you realized that maybe today won’t be so bad.
