one day, I saw that art, a different perspective on sirens, and how they could be bigger than what we expect. And it just clicked like, yeah sirens live under water where there's mass amount of pressure and everything so their bodies need to adapt. And ta - da! This version of siren Katara is my favorite.
Hey azutara people who likes musicals have y'all ever thought about hadestown azutara
but not the usual orpheus and Eurydice
Azutara Hades and Persephone
Even though it would be more cohesive for the Hadestown story if Hades were a man (since him being a man is very important to the story), I think Azula as a character would be a great Hades.
and Katara as Persephone because they're both very political and loud (positive sight) people, goes against the ideas of Hades/Azula of Lord and even call Hades/Azula's people her brothers and sisters, while Hades call them children (hence, putting him in a responsable and someone people depend on, Unlike Persephone, who sees herself as one of them even though she is a goddess.).
and Katara would drink herself to oblivion if her wife was Azula lowkey....
Adding more to this AU: the characters outside of Azutara!
I thought about this a lot with a friend, and I came to the conclusion that our Orpheus would definitely be Aang! He's a very heart-on-his-hands, loveable guy who would def put love on top of most things, while maintaining the seriousness of it all. I would say that what made him choose Aang as Orpheus was with how naive he is.
And for Eurydice, I thought Toph would be a good match! I'm not much of a Taang gal but I think it would fit perfectly: Toph has this impulsiveness bordering on naivety, this hunger to be more than what she's made for (reasons why she would go to Hadestown in the first place), and many more. She's not as naive as Eurydice, but her impulsiveness would be her doom.
This one is very obvious: Hermes as Sokka! I don't see many reasons to describe this, since I feel that among all of them, it's the most obvious along with Aang/Orpheus. He's an energetic guy and would do a great narrator, all while being close to Katara/persephone and Aang/Orpheus.
The fates would be Mai, Ty Lee and Suki. This choice is a bit more complicated, but bear with me. I see these Fates separated into certain emotions, from the most melancholic to the most irrational, all the way to the end. They would be a great representation of the anxiety and doubts that the Fates cause the characters to experience, while Suki keeps both grounded to not overdo it (they do, nonetheless).
In Words to the Wise, Mai and Ty Lee would be the only Fates singing.
That's all I have for tonight, till the next day guys. Maybe I'll make art of those

— Dama de Honra [Azula/Katara, 4,9k words, rated M, chapter 1/?]
Then— Clack. The tip of a cane tapped against her boot. Azula’s head snapped up, fingers tensing. The woman before her stood silhouetted against the alley’s murky light, her blue eyes clouded like sea glass worn smooth by time. She was young, Azula’s age, perhaps… “Ah,” the woman murmured, tilting her head as if listening to the way the air shifted around Azula’s stillness. “I’m sorry. Did I hurt you?” Azula's lips parted, then pressed into a tighter line. The question was absurd. The tap had been feather-light, yet this stranger spoke as if she might have cleaved Azula in two. “You’d know if you had.”

I might change the title since it fuck ass
I changed the title
Urgh... I miss Dama de Honra so much, but I really REALLY can't bring myself to go back into writing that again. I think people who were expecting more deserve a quick explanation.
the day I posted chapter 4 was the same day I got a call that my mom died, and Ikem (the manager that gave Azula/Lu Ten her job) was HEAVILY inspires by my mom; how he took under his wing an illegal immigrant, how in the future would give housing to lu ten for a short period of time, and how much he remembers about other people. He would not be an all-good person, but he would do great actions in terms of his street community.
I tried waiting out to see what would happen, if I could go back into writing it again, but I couldn't.
I tried writing chapter 5, but that little thing always pestered my writing. Ikem made the prose and narrative I was creating seem much more depressing than it actually was, and I tried to fix it, I really did, but at every dialogue that I created for him, I saw my mom again, and Ikem is too important for the story to simply disappear.
For the time being, this one will be on hiatus! Thank you to whoever enjoyed it and talked about it, I appreciate all the love this fanfic has gotten, and I'm extremely happy to see how people could feel what I was trying to convey. I feel like I've done a thorough job, even if the story is unfinished.
If you guys want, I have made some topics with the biggest events in the fanfic. If you guys are interested, I can post them someday.
