Forest green vibes for the cold weather 🌧️ picked up one of my mom’s thinner books for light reading during lunch hour at work and it ended up being an oddly appropriate read!
beauty & brains
in the end, we’ll all become stories.
Beautiful~
She’s beauty, she’s grace, she’ll eat all your homework and then yawn in your face 🐈
I’m so excited.
— It’s been more than a year since I completed a nonfiction book, almost 9 months since I finished my Honours, and just about 6 months since I began my full time job.
— To be able to pursue knowledge is a privilege; there’s truly something about flipping a page, putting the nib of a pen to paper, and digesting each word as I read it — can you believe each word was chosen? One by one? To convey the meaning, the point, to share the idea with the world. Something so beautiful about it, like a breath of fresh air.
trying a new commonplace method where i categorize my entries x
// I’m going to have a day off after a quick cognitive psychology recap. Yesterday I studied biology 8 hours straight and had an exam on top of that so it’s a well deserved free day!
essay drafting — thank you, Mr. Roosevelt sir
being midway into my final semester is so bittersweet;
having 6 essays to submit within 1 week is pretty insane but I’m trying not to get too caught up in the stress and forget to relish the last of my undergraduate journey! so here’s to getting some writing done at my favourite brunch spot 🥯 ☕️
Do u have any (daily) journaling tips for self improvement? 🎧
Consistency is key!! If you struggle to journal daily, try journaling less "aesthetically" my journal is a total disaster, but it helps me; it's really personal, and I actually do it daily since writing without trying to make it look aesthetically is really easy and also freeing!!
One of the most essential aspects of self-improvement, in my opinion, is being well-reflected; here are some journaling prompts that might help you with that:
How have I been feeling today? (you can also rate this on a scale, like 1 to 10, for example!!)
What is something that made me emotional recently?
3 Current goals that I would like to archive:
What area of my life could need some improvement?
What has been making me feel good / giving me energy?
How is my week going so far?
I will make a more in-depth post/posts on journaling and how I journal soon, so if you have any more questions, feel free to ask them, and I'll try to answer them!! <33
"A consciousness of wrongdoing is the first step to salvation."
Epicurus
“We must realize that the Reformation world view leads in the direction of government freedom. But the humanist world view with inevitable certainty leads in the direction of statism. This is so because humanists, having no god, must put something at the center, and it is inevitably society, government, or the state.”
—
Francis Schaeffer
Hegel's overriding impulse was to comprehend all dimensions of existence as dialectically integrated in one unitary whole. In Hegel's view, all human thought and all reality is pervaded by contradiction, which alone makes possible the development of higher states of consciousness and higher states of being. Each phase of being contains within itself a self-contradiction, and it is this that serves as the motor of its movement to a higher and more complete phase. Through a continuing dialectical process of opposition and synthesis, the world is always in the process of completing itself. Whereas for most of the history of Western philosophy from Aristotle onward, the defining essence of opposites was that they were logically contradictory and mutually exclusive, for Hegel all opposites are logically necessary and mutually implicated elements in a larger truth. Truth is thus radically paradoxical.
