do you think people are being a little dramatic about the tumblr thing? like they are banning adult content not deleting the whole website • i still plan on being on the site because like i am a minor anyways so the rule didn't seem to bother me as much because i don't use it for adult content but i can't be the only one. idk some people are going at far as deleting their whole blogs even if they are sfw

The main reason people are freaking out is because a huge amount of SFW blogs are being flagged as expl*cit and then being marked as expl*cit with no way of appealing it.

This is bad in itself, but its worse for content creators where their blog was a huge source of income, and now posts of theirs that are following new guidelines are being flagged and deemed unseeable.

I’ve watched two artists I follow on here who have never post anything not sfw lament over how half of their blog has been marked expl*cit, how tumblr keeps trying to say theyre expl*cit when they’re clearly not, and give up completely because Tumblr will Not Work Outside this bot algorithm.

Pictures of vases, cats, dogs, old paintings you’d see in muesuems that are open for all ages- all of that is being flagged as expl*cit when anyone with two eyes can see its not.

It may be overdramatic to you, but a sh*tton of content creators have lost a valuable source of income thanks to tumblr f**king up so bad. Not to mention that even normal users are experiencing a handful of glitches ruining their tumblr experience.

If you think I’m being overdramatic- you know where the block and unfollow buttons are.

also like the whole fact of HRT and post-surgery posts being flagged, sfw lgbt+ content being flagged. that pretty much takes away a whole community’s place to connect with each other. like really i don’t see much people focusing on the fact that it’s literally not just porn that’s being flagged and not just porn blogs being forced to leave. not to mention the fact that tumblr won’t ban nazis but will flag pictures of animals looool.

Pretty frustrated with all the tumblr stuff and, like a ton of folks, a few of my pieces were incorrectly flagged. Regardless, I don’t think my art blog is going anywhere for now and I’ll keep posting here every so often.

people essentially calling anyone who has experienced sexual attraction/arousal “horny freaks” seem to lack the knowledge that the sexuality of women, the lgbt, poc, and etc has essentially been criminalized, shamed, etc for generations and they seem content just continuing that honored tradition.

and I love “female presenting nipples” jokes as much as yall, but I hope yall like them because they mock the use of transgender “accepting” language to push an old misogynistic standard unfairly put on women as a means to sound understanding to the plight of the transes, and not cuz, ya know, the idea of banning women’s nipples sounds like a joke in and of itself.

i was gonna make a post about this but people legitimately don’t seem to understand the reason there’s so many like explicitly sexual communities of LGBT people online is because regular, harmless expressions of LGBT sexuality are persecuted and face violent retribution even in contexts where expressions of cishet sexuality are seen as completely acceptable. people pushing this ridiculous idea that the internet needs to be a totally sexless space seem completely disconnected from why the LGBT internet is so sexual to begin with, and while, sure, there are a lot of issues that have arisen in these contexts, its got absolutely nothing to do with people being “horny freaks” and a lot more to do with mechanisms of abuse that also exist (in even greater proportion likely) among cishet people.
