Doublefrost - Team Fortress 2 (2007) Developer - Valve Publisher - Valve
Doublefrost is a Capture the Flag game mode map added to Team Fortress 2 during the Smissmas 2021 update. It is a seasonal version of the map Double Cross, and it is only accessible during the game's annual Smissmas event in December, altering the map to be set during the day and covering it in snow, ice and wrapped presents.
The map is composed of two opposing bases connected by a bridge over a large chasm, with a railway below that connecting the two sewer entrances found on opposite sides of the map. The objective of each team is to enter the enemy team's base in order to capture their gift-wrapped, intelligence briefcase and return it to the their own team's base. The team that does this three times first wins.
The map's two sewers have been changed so that the water has frozen over, and is also decorated with presents, but it is otherwise the same. It is accessed via the external entrance, a hatch at the bottom of each team's spawn area, a staircase near each team's spawn and by jumping down into the sewers from a hole in a small building in the outdoor courtyard behind each base. The sewers each contain a small health kit and a medium ammo crate, and can be used as an exit from the base, or a flanking route by the enemy team to sneak in.
The map also includes some added easter eggs that are not present in the default verion of the map. Behind a fence near the BLU base are two snowmen, while the behind the RED base has a row of reindeer cut-outs, one of which references Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. The maps near the Intelligence have been changed to be tracking a reindeer and possibly a yeti, and scattered around there are a number of toy trains, referencing one of the map maker's other maps, Trainsawlaser.
