Lovely Hats and Gowns in Les Modes 1908 – Beautiful fashion from Les Modes 1908. xx
Detail of Portrait of Cecilia Tower by James Jebusa Shannon, ca. 1889
I should stop making 1860s headwear that I have no occasion to wear
my whitework came, and it’s actually really, really nice quality. i’m pleased. and i cut out my bodice! it was a lot of slashing and spreading and piecing.
so, I’m putting together an outfit to go with my 1820′s Hat and im torn between
normal, appropriate late 20s sleeves
and UNBELIEVABLE 30S SLEEVES
features that im positive about: i need to make an underdress, possibly of of cotton or my cheap white silk, with short puff sleeves; the bodice is going to be gathered with those insertion details at the shoulders, gathering probably into the waist and not horizontally along the middle, the neckline will be bateau, and more square, like the first picture, the skirt front will be lightly gathered
just ordered some cheap ass vintage rayon ribbon and some luxuriant $3 ostrich plumes
They always look bigger when they’re actually on yr head
I need bigger hair and more trim, but you get the picture. silk on chip-bergere hat, 1770sish
i’m still alive! shit’s still going on. i made a new cap and kerchief, and ill take pictures of the black silk hat that i covered tonight. just bits and bobs.
although i am slowly finishing my white silk gown, and i have a nice aurora pink silk for a petticoat and trim...
making a bonnet is honestly so magical. about the time when you attach the brim wire it goes from a hot buckram mess to an honest to god piece of headwear
a good day w a good jacket
The jacket and silk petti!
what am I up to now, you may ask?
petticoats. a fuckton of petticoats
tryn 2 b statuesque
a.) this skirt is going to k i l l me, i don’t even think im liking how its turning out. goddamn bias decoration, and i need to finish it soon
b.) i think the bodice is going to be super cute... regular fan-front, with some decorative jockey thing on the sleeve
