Happy One Week Anniversary, Lover!
Taylor used to leave scarves on banisters at sisters houses. Meaning she was just a guest. But now, sheâs helping paint brothers room. Sheâs part of the family. đ
When he got your heartbeat skipping down 16th Avenue
when you go home and try to stalk him on the internet
when you thought forgetting him would kill you but it didnât
when the traffic lights say they donât know
when no cameras catch your pageant smile
When heâs staring out the window like your not his favourite town
When youâre walking down Camden market in the afternoon
When you think he knows
When they whisper in the hallway sheâs a bad bad girl
When he just wonât cut to the bone
When âI love youâ is the worst thing you ever heard
When you went home and stalked him on the internet.
i donât want to see you guys dragging taylor for wearing a similar outfit. itâs the metaphor. a man can go to multiple award shows and wear something similar like a plain black suit five times, while when a woman wears something A BIT similar to something sheâs worn before she gets dragged. and thatâs what happened tonight, proving what she thinks. so all in all, stream the man đ

The Man. #loverera
Reblogs if this is one of your favorite quotes from #Lover!
I think what really GETS me about Miss Americana is that the lyrics do really have double meaning.
If youâre not paying attention, youâd be like, âoh, yeah, itâs about high school loveâ... but then you listen closer with the context of her singing about AMERICA, or rather, TO AMERICA and itâs politics. âYou know I adore you, Iâm crazier for you, than I was at 16, lost a film scene.â This is really obviously symbolism of, âI was so caught up in my own life and being distracted by my career I didnât really notice you, American politics, needed my attention.â
I now kind of read the chorus in two ways, too. She could so easily just be singing to the Heartbreak Prince as a love interest, saying, âItâs you and me,â and that the rest of the world doesnât approve of her being with him... but the chorus is so much more layered when you approach it from the singing about her society / her country angle. Itâs like sheâs saying to America, âremember when I was known for my 4th of July parties? You were my whole worldâ, but then the Republicans claimed her for their own in her silence, and people were bullying her and talking about her, so âthey whisper in the hallway sheâs a bad bad girl.â
So when she says, âthe whole school is rolling fake diceâ, (which is !!!!!) This is her saying she realises the new America she lives in is run by those who manipulate the system, (just like she said in that Guardian interview as well??!). Then sheâs like taking a dig, like, if âyouâre doing to play stupid games with power, then your prize isnât a real prize, eitherâ.
This analogy is made even more clear and easier to see in the second verse with, âmy team is losing / batteries and bruising / I see the high fives between the bad guys,â and âAmerican stories, burning before me / boys will be boys then, where are the wise men?â Because guess who said, âboys will be boysâ famously???? A certain President.
The whole analogy is genius when itâs then mixed with the American high school symbolism as well? Because to anyone who isnât American, the MOST American thing is movie vision of âhigh schoolâ, of cliques, of cheerleaders and bleachers.
And there ainât nothing more cliquey and high school than two party politics at the moment, huh?
Can we also talk about the brilliance of the "Go! Fight! Win!" Chat incorporated into the song. That is a common American cheer
Go! Fight! Win! is so well done, it would make the song a hit for me even without the other, incredibly important messages. Proud that Taylor is taking a stand
and also, the fact she says that she starts out saying that itâs a hopeless fight but then in the final round of âGO! FIGHT! WIN!â she says, âThis is a fight that I know weâre gonna winâ because love and tolerance has to win in the end.Â
Very well presented!
THE BEST DAY!!!
This album is seriously so amazing Taylor,
WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!

Just think of all the relationships Taylor is going to help salvage with Afterglow!

âThis song is one that was hard to write, because itâs something that Iâm going through right now. My dad got cancer when I was 13 and he got better, and it wasnât a very long process, but things with my mom have been very different. This song is special in a lot of ways because when I wrote this one, I recorded it with Jack, and he was working, at the time, with the Dixie Chicks, making their new album. Thatâs the band that made me wanna do this. Thereâs a handful of artists that made me wanna do this. The Dixie Chicks taught me that you can have a strong female voice, saying whatever she wants in music, and experimenting with having a very feminine aesthetic, but very tough resilience to them. And their musicianship, the way that they played their instruments made me wanna play an instrument. Basically, I said to Jack, âCan you please play this song for the Dixie Chicks? Itâs a really special song for me and my family, and they were such a big part of my life, and I wonder if maybe they can sing background vocals on it, or maybe even play on it if they wanted to.â And he played it for them, and they got really emotional hearing it, and wanted to sing on it and play fiddle and banjo on it too. So, the background vocals that youâre hearing in this song are the Dixie Chicks, who Iâm obsessed with.â
â Taylor on Soon Youâll Get Better for iHeartRadio (x)
Iâve been thinking about and listening to âI forgot that you existedâ lot lately. I know it can easily be interpreted as an ex lover, but for me it hits in a different way.
See, Iâm estranged from my family. I donât see or talk to any of them ever. Itâs been this way for 9 years.
As you can imagine, this has been so hard for me. But certain members (my mom and sister) did some truly awful, horrible, unforgivable things to me and the rest of the family supported them.
As Iâve moved on and grown up and matured and built a new life for myself, they have become more and more of a distant memory. But there are some days when I still cry over that loss.
My hope for myself is to get to a place where I can truly say âit isnât love. It isnt hate. Itâs indifference. So yeah.â
Thanks for listening. Love you guys!
@taylorswift thank you for yet another song that so clearly explains how Iâm feeling when Iâve never been able to fully. đ
