Hey look I spent like 2 hours making a TikTok! It would be awesome if you'd click through & leave some engagement there too. :)
(All statements about tradition are from a US Reform/Conservative point of view. Judaism is incredibly diverse and there are many valid ways to observe and celebrate! Judaism is however a closed ethnoreligion so please don't just "borrow" stuff. If you wanna convert, talk to a rabbi!)
Also, in ancient times, Sukkot was the holiday where people from surrounding nations were invited to share in the festivities. So non-Jews, if you are interested in Sukkot, ask your Jewish friends if you can come over! This is the holiday to do it!
Yeah! I was going to cover this in a second video (this one already had a lot of text) but I will definitely do that now that you've brought it up too. 💗
Is it terrible that I saw “Sukkot is a relatively open holiday with invites extended to anyone” and thought to myself, “Ah, it’s a big tent holiday.”
No it's actually perfect. :)
This being our first holiday with this particular sukkah we actually built it wrong, it's about 50 square feet smaller than we intended. We purposefully got a big tent so we could have lots of friends over whenever COVID lets us do so!
For anyone who remembers that post that goes around every now and then, this is "Shake a lemon at God week"
