Do you have any non-commission work to link to? Like personal projects? I love your work, and I'd love to see you draw characters interacting in a scene, or a comic, or an illustration. There's so much depth in just your character commissions, so much expression and animation, good weight and an amazing feel for motion. Maybe I'm just greedy but I can't get enough of your art and I just want to see you stretch yourself, I want to really see what you can do!!

Hello SFD, I was wondering what inspired you start drawing? And genre do you like most?

I first started drawing For Realz™ after watching Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron. And I kept at it after realizing how much I loved to draw characters in general.

As far as genre….? That’s a little harder to narrow down. My favorites always tend to be a mix of lightheartedness and drama. Nausicaa, Avatar the last airbender, Inside out, Mob Psycho 100, Kiki’s delivery service, Rise of the Guardians, the list goes on. If there’s a name for those types of shows, that’s my fave.

Honestly some people on tumblr can be so picky when it comes to fanart, and they don't consider how the skill level or art style of the artist will affect the appearance of the artwork. When it's phrased as a polite critique that's cool, but a lot of people will just come in like "this is wrong" and I find it so rude. They aren't the fanart police and I think most of them aren't even artists themselves. Anyway your art is beautiful and I love your take on the characters!

Aw shucks, thank you! and yessu- It’s also that critiques are relative. I always feel weird when people critique (for better or for worse) the proportions or accuracy in my art, cause neither are what I’m going for. I’ll take shapes and exaggeration over strict anatomy any day. I’m trying to swing that way more and more. It’s different if I’m trying to capture someone’s real world likeness - there proportion is key in order to be recognizable. But cartoon shapes? not so much

Critiques like ‘this is out of character’, ‘her hand’s on backwards’, ‘you forgot her stripes!’ are much more useful for me -w- b

experimentation is VITAL to art. otherwise people would learn next to nothing. so yes yes. gonna throw myself at stuff and see what sticks \-w-/

I think it's a very beautiful piece, personally. From someone still trying to figure out human anatomy still, I really like your take on these SU characters. (My humans suck, but my anthros, forget about it lol)

The recent Jasper drawing. The question’s more this: why did you maliciously omit her strong jaw line? (at least, as far as i can tell, i don’t have a perfect record for interpreting things).

Would you ever make a comic about mermaids? I ask this cause of the jellyfish one. Mermaid have now lower genitalia so for some transgender people it make them their favorites mystic being (example: Jazz Jennings)

I think so! The red haired merman that I posted recently in my progress pic is actually from a story I have in the works. It’s still rather wrinkly, but I do have a beginning, middle, and end all sorted in my head.

Heeeeeeeeeey do you have an idea of a timeframe for when you might open commissions again? No rush or anything, just lurkin, hoping for a spot. also have you given thought to maybe raising prices again? supply and demand 😌

It’s fluctuating a lot, I’m not sure yet. I’m still hoping on finishing them all out for October. 

The way it is now, I work on Zana 5 days of the week, and commissions 2. Which, as you’ve put together, leaves no breaks anywhere. I’m coming to terms more and more that I just can’t function like that for as long as I’d like, and gotta give myself breathing room here and there.

But, yeah- I do think I’ll r-raise prices again when I open. I want to help pay for my sister to go to the college she wants, so it’s important.

I’m still working on Zana as we speak, but the story will update every monday, wednesday and friday each week! ^^

ahhh i made the message before I’d seen how things were set up, so it looks like i was worried for nothin’ ^^; There’s still the issue that sometimes no notification will appear when there’s a new message, but that’s always been there >>
