Ramadan and Mercy

There is no month wherein all the doors of mercy are opened like #Ramadan . Both divine guidance and deprivation are in deeds; those most divinely guided are those who do much good and those most deprived are those who do much evil.

Breaking fast

The best thing to break fast with are dates, then water, then milk. Specifying rutabs [fully-ripe dates] with virtue has no authenticity. The hadith mentioning preference of rutabs over other dates is munkar [denounced]. Abu Hatim, Abu Zurʿah and al-Bazzar graded it as such.

Endings

The best of the ten days of Dhul-Ḥijjah are its last, the day of ʿArafah and the day of Naḥr; just like Ramaḍān, its best is its last. Whoever fell short in the start of these ten days should catch up in its end, for deeds are based on their endings.

Hajj prices

It is considered averting people from the way of Allah and preventing access to al-Masjid al-Ḥarām to raise the costs of Ḥajj groups many times more than their true cost, to the point where a person traveling as a tourist to the furthest place on earth is easier for him than traveling to perform his rituals.

Sin and Mercy

There is no sin too great for Allah, and His mercy has preceded His anger. However, the extent of your repentance should be in line with the extent of your sin; the acceptance of repentance from minor sins is not the same as with major sins.

Ten days

It was the first ten days of Dhul-Ḥijjah wherein Allah spoke to Mūsa, wherein the religion of Islam was completed and by which Allah swore. Worship therein is better than in any other days, especially takbīr and fasting. And ʿArafah (9th of Dhul-Ḥijjah) is the best day of the year.

Dhul-Hijjah

Every virtuous act of worship is more virtuous in the first ten days of Dhul-Ḥijjah. Moreover, Friday is a virtuous day, and it is more virtuous in these ten days. The virtue of any given act may increase due to several virtues being associated with one another.

Rights

Islam brought preservation of rights before enactment of punishments because souls tend to rebel against those who punish them if they don’t preserve their rights.

Private sins

Sins done privately nullify good deeds more than sins done publicly. The Prophet ﷺ mentioned people who will come with good deeds the size of the mountains of Tihāmah; Allah will nullify them because “when they are alone, they transgress the sacred limits of Allah.”

Happiness

Nothing waters hearts with happiness and tranquility like the Qur’ān, and nothing causes the soul to live with humility like prostrating to Allah. Whoever is deprived of a remembering tongue and a prostrating forehead proceeds behind a fake happiness.

Good and evil

Recognizing good and evil is not sufficient, for you may recognize good but find yourself reluctant in doing it and you may recognize evil but find yourself drawn to it. One of the duʿas of ʿUmar was: “O Allah, show me the truth as being the truth and bless me with following it.”

Creator and creation

Whoever comes near the Creator will not worry too much about the creation. A person feels safe when he is near important people, so how about the safety of one who comes near the Lord of all people!

Sins and mercy

Some people try to find a way around sins by making them permissible; they move away from blame and self-guilt while moving closer to punishment. You remain closer to Allah’s mercy as long as you disobey Him while acknowledging your sin.

Syria Chemical Attack

There is tribulation in ‪‎Syria‬ that requires aiding, duʿā and qunūt in prayers; for among the greatest means that wards off tribulation is aiding the weak. O Allah, empower the truth in Syria and send to it one who will aid it. 

في الشام ابتلاء يستوجب النصرة والدعاء، والقنوت في الصلوات، فإن من أعظم ما يدفع البلاء نصرة الضعفاء، فاللهم مكّن للحق في الشام وقيض له نصيراً

State of mind.

If a person wants to think about something and give it close consideration, he closes his eyes so that his sight does not steal the accuracy of his concentration. He is fearful for his thinking from his sight, so how about he who thinks about the Ummah while opening his sight to money or status?

Knowledge & Fear

Do not look at what you have of books and notebooks, rather look at what is in your heart. If your heart is humble and submissive before Allāh then you are from the people of knowledge, because fear is the fruit of this knowledge. 

“It is only those who have knowledge among His slaves that fear Allāh.” 

[Surah AlFāṭir 35:28]
