Wow, I’m on my 5th shiny, and it took 1 and half hours in the friend safari (watching cloud atlas at the same time). Its a shiny ninetales with its draught ability (pokegasm everyone). However it has a horrible nature that takes away from its special attack (I don’t care though). 

I’ll tell you EXACTLY what I’ve done for the past three shinies (swadloon, pumpkaboo and now ninetales). 

1) Keep a knocked out pokemon with the illuminate ability in front of your party (I use a  chinchou that was caught in azure bay) it increases random encounter rates.

2) Make sure the person who owns the safari is playing at the same time as you (all three of mine were caught that way).

3) Use your bicycle in the grass.

4) Roll around the safari for 1-2 hours while watching a movie (you should encounter 20 pokemon every 5 minutes). If you do this for 2 hours a day you’ll get a shiny in probably 4 days (maybe sooner like me).

5) Keep quick balls ready, especially when catching ghost types (you can’t use false swipe on them). If quick ball fails use a scyther with false swipe and a cherish ball.

Hope this helps (its insane how I’ve gotten a shiny everyday for the past 4 days). But I stress, use the chinchou!

WARNING FOR POKEMON X/Y USERS! Do NOT save outside while in Lumiose City!

Just a fair warning out there for all you Pokemon X and Y users out there! There has been confirmation of a glitch that happens when you save in Lumiose City, where if you save, there is a chance for your game to freeze up and the only fix right now is to reset your entire game.

There’s an entire thread on it on GameFAQs if you would like to check it out.

Please spread this around! I would hate it for somebody to have to reset their entire game cause of this glitch!
