i appreciate the amount of people reblogging this despite me not really tagging this at all. im glad many of people feel the same anger i do.
my biggest word of advice to anyone scared to post their work/ocs/involve themselves in creative spaces online is to earnestly get interested in other people. be kind to others, like/reblog their work, tell them what you like about their work, get to know them as people.
this isn’t to “weasel” your way into anything or having ulterior motives or whatever. if you become friends with someone then that’s great! but there’s always something very personal about posting any kind of creative work. we’re all trying our best to connect with each other and the best way to get comfortable is to get to know others and show up as yourself. 🫶🏾
you dont GET to treat masculinity as the default you dont GET to slap a "boy" "guy" "man" "dude" label on EVERYTHING you fucking see you dont GET to treat men like the funniest in the room you dont GET to distinguish boys abilities or habits as innately better or innately distinct from everyone elses you dont GET TO DO THAT!!!! i am killing you
"boys will be boys" mood
Hey do you know what rumination is?
Rumination is probably the most common type of OCD compulsion, but I rarely see anyone talking about it. I've talked to multiple people diagnosed with OCD who didn't even recognize it as a compulsion.
Basically, if you have OCD you have terrible intrusive thoughts. They can be about anything, but common themes are fear of being a bad person, fear of hurting someone, fear of contamination. etc.
Rumination is when you get stuck in a spiral. Rumination is when you spend hours catastrophizing, overthinking, analyzing, telling yourself it's going to be okay.
I'll say it again:
Rumination is a compulsion.
Rumination is a compulsion, and that means you have to stop doing it.
I did ERP (exposure response prevention) for my OCD with a therapist! For 9 months! And it did help, but the idea didn't really click until I found this website a couple years later.
And Oh My God. It made things make so much more sense, and I was able to pull myself out of an episode even though I wasn't in therapy or on meds at the time.
Genuinely if you have OCD, or even if you suspect you have OCD, I'm begging you to read some of these articles.
Like this was genuinely life changing for me.
Here are some of the ones that were most helpful to me:

BADI, otherwise stylized as Bʌ́di (バディ), was a Japanese magazine for gay men that ran from 1994 to 2019. The magazine first started with illustrated covers, but as gay culture became stronger and men less afraid, they began gracing the covers as well. The magazine published a range of content from manga to life advice, fashion articles and sexual health advisories.
I personally find BADI one of the most beautiful and impactful gay magazines, and it's safe to say it's had a massive impact on gay visual culture. While I don't have a perfect archive that goes back to the early days, I have located all monthly issues of BADI from 2010 to 2019 and saved the covers to my hard drive. I will be scheduling them to post on my blog once a week. They will be tagged under #The BADI Archive.
This post will act as a helpful masterlist, and I hope you all enjoy the ride with me. If possible, I'd love to go back and collect vintage editions as well! Anyone who has any leads, please let me know.

hey. you have to love your trans brothers of color okay. and your trans sisters of color. and your nonbinary siblings of color. you have to okay. its simply non-optional
this was funnier in my head but here's a doodle anyways
i know their universes are separate but mark watney randomly picking up a hobby of intensely following a niche branch of microbiology while he was recovering from the mars debacle would be so him
random thoughts at 4am had me thinking about how useful he'd be to the project because of his outside the box thinking and creativity
stratt WOULD send an international icon who survived on a planet alone back up into space no questions asked
Something that happens a lot in non-binary spaces is that a new member of the community will ask a tone-deaf transphobic question like "Hi, AFAB here, I was wondering if any other AFAB NBs had advice about swimsuits? My AFAB chest means I can't wear swimsuits for AMABs," and an established community member will have to gently explain that not only are we are a community of people who often change their bodies to a degree that certificated sex becomes a useless way to describe anatomy, but we are also a community of people who often join the community explicitly to get away from our birth sex assignment, and so referring to people that way can be really offensive.
And no matter how gently this is pointed out, the newbie will often initially feel instinctively defensive towards what they perceive as scolding. Which means that when another community member comes along and says "Don't worry about the language police 🙄, many of us think AGAB language is fine, it's a useful way to refer to the kind of formative experiences you had as a child," the newbie will latch on to them like a life raft.
And yes, we live in a transphobic society, a lot of people coming into the trans community will have uninterrogated transphobic views, but that just makes them more vulnerable when there is always someone in the community willing to tell them "no, your transphobic views are fine actually, and in fact here are some more you might not have thought of!"
It means a sizeable chunk of newly-out NBs are swiftly radicalised into increasingly extreme transphobia and transmisogyny simply as a defense mechanism against having their own comments criticised. One day they're just happy to join a community where people supposedly don't judge you on your birth sex, and the next they're talking about the importance of "AGAB socialisation".
It's a really big problem and I don't know what we can do about it.
Hi, I need to ask for help with medicine and food please help a disabled trans woman out during pride month. I'm also one of the moms of @rickybabyboy if it helps

why don't you present yourself more femininely?

Hyper-individualist cultures go, “Your emotions are your personal responsibility. Don’t burden others. Regulate privately. Maintain functionality. If you’re upset, process it offstage so the machine keeps moving.” Meanwhile certain collectivist or harmony-focused frameworks go, “Your emotions disrupt group cohesion. Don’t create discomfort. Don’t impose disharmony. Transcend or contain your reactions for the sake of the whole.”
Different mythology, same trembling fear that one person saying “actually, I feel terrible” will cause civilization to peel apart like wet drywall.
