I’m reading this book about the changing arctic and the author stayed with the Nunamiut people of inland alaska for a while and talked to this high school kid who was like “ugh I hate going to school in the spring I wish I was hunting caribou” and I thought that was charming. you often hear about people who are devoted to preserving their traditional culture and knowledge but it’s rare to hear about someone who’s invested in the old ways out of pure teenage selfishness. school is lame and hunting caribou is awesome

Anyway this disability pride month I would like to shoutout disabled folks whose creativity has suffered because of their condition. I’m talking people with hand tremors and pain that stop them from drawing, knitting, and playing instruments. People whose thinking has become so disorganized that nothing they write makes sense to other people. People with chronic pain who can no longer dance. People so over medicated in a fruitless attempt to maintain stability that the wells of their imagination have run dry.

I see you and I love you. You are more than your creative output. You are not a shell of what you used to be. You are a whole, complete person, regardless of what your creativity has been, is now, or will be in the future.

the american south is the most racially diverse and poorest region of the united states, and any political sentiment that treats the south is stupid or expendable is inherently racist and classist. a lot of y'all are racist and classist. the south is also the heart of american culture. argue with a wall. you cannot deny that everybody in the entire world does not emulate artists from atlanta. there is vested interest in keeping the south poor and uneducated BECAUSE this is the most racially diverse region in this country. if you actually give a fuck about progress, you would fight for the south, not mock us.

This is her wanting to eradicate all trans people (with an extra special hatred towards trans women specifically). This is her trying just that by personally funding transphobic hate groups with millions to push around laws in the UK. It is not hyperbolic to call her a dangerous, genocidal maniac.

the discussions around the odyssey's historical accuracy is so fucking anal in so many aspects because people either want to be as racist as possible or flex that they used to be into percy jackson and said "oh my gods" on their blog while getting all their info about greek culture from other tumblr posts. in the simplest terms its obviously handled like a stage play that does certain concessions in service of the performance and narrative, and on top of that deliberately changes many aspect of the original tale for the sake of themes the director and writers wanted to explore. and the cast is incredibly diverse and full of amazing performances, i dont particularily care its not "entirely greek" because terminally people online would still argue about an actual greek person not looking greek enough, because the idea of what a nationality looks like is vague and undefined. its so stupid. i wonder if scholars who read the first written version of the odyssey thousands of years ago also had pointless debates about it being inaccurate
