Continuation of my previous fic:
Rebecca Chambers is at the BSAA, checking the roster when she sees a familiar name on the patient list.
Last she heard, her old friend, Jill was presumed dead after a mission with Chris where they headed back to the Spencer mansion to arrest Ozwell Spencer. Things had gone awry, Spencer was killed by Albert Wesker and after a fight, Jill threw herself at Wesker to save Chris, pushing them both off the cliff that the mansion itself was on.
After an extensive search of the area, neither body was found so they were presumed dead. At least, Jill was. Wesker seemed to be invincible to Chris.
Rebecca hurried to the room listed next to Jill's name. On the way, she bumped into Barry Burton.
"Barry! Jill's here. She's alive!"
"I don't know. I'm on my way to see her right now."
"I'll come with you, if that's okay."
Together, they headed to the room Jill was assigned to. Their old friend was hooked up to several medical equipment. Not only alive but awake and aware.
She was making small talk with her new friend, Sheva.
Rebecca gently knocked before she walked in with Barry.
"Sorry to interrupt." She said as she walked closer.
"Rebecca! Barry! It's so good to see you, guys."
"It's good to see you too! Permission to hug?" Rebecca asked.
Jill extended her arms and the two hugged.
"How are you?" Barry asked.
"I've been better." Jill answered honestly.
"What happened?" Barry asked.
"Wesker tried to conquer the world with Uroboros, starting with me." Jill said.
"That's a very simplified version of events." Sheva said. "Chris and I wrote down everything in the report."
"I see. It's probably how you're still alive after that fall." Rebecca commented.
"Actually, my body rejected Uroboros because of the exposure I had to the T-Virus." Jill explained.
"Wesker is a very sick individual." Barry commented.
"Was." Sheva corrected. "We dropped him in a volcano along with the Uroboros."
"He's dead?" Rebecca asked.
Jill and Sheva both nodded.
"For good this time." Sheva answered.
A moment of silence passed.
"Well, good riddance." Barry said, breaking the silence.
"So, you're gonna be looking after me?" Jill asked Rebecca, gladly changing the subject.
"Yes, if that's okay with you."
"Of course. Why wouldn't it be?" Jill answered with a smile.
"Good." Rebecca said, matching the smile.
Sheva looked at the clock on the wall.
"I better let you rest." Sheva said.
"Me too." Barry responded.
"Yeah. I'll read the file in the meantime and com back later, okay?" Rebecca said as she gently patted Jill's shin.
Barry walked out first, Sheva followed and Rebecca got out last. As they walked a few steps away, Sheva reached inside her pocket and pulled out the P30.
"Please, just Rebecca." She answered.
"I'm Sheva Alomar. I'm from the West Africa Division. I was Chris' partner for this mission."
"I'm Barry Burton. An old friend of Chris and Jill."
"You too. When we found Jill, she had this on her chest." She showed them the red device.
Barry took it from her hands and examined it.
"Looks like a pump of some sort." Barry said.
"Like an artificial heart?" Rebecca asked.
"An external one but without it her heart is beating okay." Sheva replied.
"So it was likely pumping something else." Rebecca commented as she took it in her hands and taking a closer look. Slight moisture was still inside. "I'll take this to the lab. See exactly what Wesker was pumping Jill with."
With that, the three went their separate ways.
