Harsh Words.

Normally, I wouldn’t write something like this but it’s been a god-awful day of being taken for granted and I really just don’t have the energy to bottle this topic which has been on my mind for several months.

If you are wanting to establish an RP connection, regardless if it’s in-game or in Discord, have some idea as to what you are wanting. It doesn’t even need to be a solid decision because I am always open to brainstorming. 

I am so tired of being expected to carry the entire interaction between the characters and watching as it essentially slowly dies because the other participant has no opinion, no plans, not even a thought as to what their character might enjoy. Roleplay is supposed to be between two or more willing participants. 

If I wanted to write a plot alone, I have a novel that still needs work. 

This isn’t a callout. I’m aware I’ve been silent for several roleplays but I do what I can to keep in touch with my partners. If you cannot offer that same courtesy, IC or OOC, then please do not waste your time or mine by asking me to write the plot or ship for you. I understand everyone has real life matters to attend to and I am incredibly flexible regarding it to such an extent that I have regular partners that go weeks without a reply. I’m incredibly patient when it’s been made clear that I’m not the only one there to contribute.

Mind you, I don’t mind helping someone cross the road to RP if they are shy. I will gladly brainstorm with someone if they are clearly interested. 

However, I am not going to babysit your character and roleplay them for you. 

If you can’t invest the effort, why should I?

Oh man! Fucking preach! Honestly, this is what killed it for me with my last rp partner. 2+ years and only a handful of interactions both in game and out of game. Every time I’d try to bring up plotting, he either wasn’t interested or no reaction. I’d get a lot of “Whatever happens, happens.” I even went to the extent of restarting the story to try and draw interest. Now I’m actually very patient when it comes to posts but when posts go 2 weeks without being answered because they aren’t feeling it, but I know they are doing other rps with other partners, it just feels to me like a big “FUCK YOU”. And I totally get RL coming first or just not feeling the plot but don’t hold a person’s rp character hostage if you have no intention of meeting them halfway. Don’t get mad at people when they are within their right to ask “Well, what’s up, been a few weeks, did you still want to rp?” Don’t gaslight them into thinking they’re wrong for inquiring about a mutual story.

It wouldn’t just be the rp itself. Anyone who knows me knows I’m constantly throwing aesthetics at people. Don’t eve have to be ships or my characters. I know plenty of you have gotten messages where I’ve been like “BAM! AESTHETIC THAT REMINDED ME OF A CHARACTER!”If your partner is doing this and you can’t have the decency to at least acknowledge it, it’s just a really really shitty feeling. Here I am thinking about OUR story and OUR characters but by blatantly ignoring it is just really insensitive and conveys that you have no interest. I’m not even asking you to reciprocate. If you don’t like it, at least say you don’t want someone spamming you with pictures/aesthetics/art. If people care enough about you to want to write and create with you, have the common decency to at least put your expectations down and not just use them when it suits you.

REMEMBER! YOU DESERVE AN RP PARTNER THAT IS JUST AS INVESTED IN A STORY/SHIP/ADVENTURE AS YOU ARE! DON’T SETTLE FOR ANYTHING LESS!
